Is there something I'm missing /biz/ ?
I live somewhere the average 2 bedroom apartment costs 180,000$, average house 300,000$, and I see small commercial buildings, usually with previous company utilities still inside, going for 25,000$. I don't get it. Only the piece of land is worth that, and it comes with a free business.
Should I start buying small businesses, operate them for some time and flip them ? I do not see how I could lose any money, it literally can't depreciate more than that. Also, the buildings I've checked are in good state, they were just generally ugly.
I thought of buying small businesses for dirt cheap like that, selling their utilities, buying tables and selling cheap stuff until the payments are finished, then hold/flip it and buy another one.
How could it fail, if I buy them for dirt cheap ?
>>1755424
what do you mean by utilities?
>>1755433
The equipment, like the washing machines, chairs, tables, etc
You assume all the employees would stay with you.
Idk, do it and find out. The fact that they're so cheap should tell you nobody is buying.
Hey all, I work for one of the big 4 accounting firms and I just finished paying off my student loans. I've decided to direct that monthly payment into a brokerage account.
Little more background: I work in an advisory capacity as a Cybersecurity consultant. I'm not held to all the independence restrictions an auditor is, but the firm I work for is one of the more strict of the four. Given all the restrictions I'm subject to, what are some general tips / advice you have with respect to investing?
I'm particularly attracted to making some volatility plays and doing whatever I can to over-leverage myself given I'm only 24 and have a small amount of initial capital to work with.

What degree did you get, from what school, and is it a master's or just a bachelor's?
>>1755378
Private school is a bitch nigger. Also not an athlete and not black, so I was shit out of luck from the aid department.
Either way, you're just baiting without giving any real advice. The question would still stand if I was 30 and entering the investment world
Everyone hates on /biz/ for giving shit advice, but last night in the wee hours of the morning I made $2,600 because I listened to some bullshit on /biz/.
In the summer some of you guys told me to mine pascal coin and I did then forgot about it because price projections were terrible so I gave up and moved on. When it was added to poloniex, I happened to locate 1600 coins I had mined and deposit them while the price was still very high and made a decent sum of money for no investment other than minor electrical consumption.
So thank you /biz/. You have done me a solid this once. Now please tell me the next way to make $2,600 with minimal effort mining fake coins.
bump i am waiting
>>1755281
here's proof of /biz/ absolutely hooking me up. it's obviously not a crazy amount of money, but it came so easily.
>>1755280
whatd you make 2600 on last nighty
Mexico was on its way up as the 14th economy of the world. Now here comes 4 years of recession and going down with the populism as the rest of the world.
In what would you invest during a recession?
Wall building companies.
>>1755238
How is the prostitution industry down there? Men will always find a way to pay for pussy.
>>1755310
You don't pay for pussy in Mexico you just cut the bitches head and dump her on a street
I'm someone who develops websites, and in this day and age the golden ticket to job security is getting a position with small companies or non-profit organisations.
I'm not sure how to go about doing this however.
tl;dr how do I become a webmaster for a small business or non-profit organisation?
I'd like to know too
>>1755218
How is that the golden ticket? You'll get paid shit and have no prospects for advancing your career
>>1755278
all the duties (of the few thatthere are) fall onto one person, guaranteeing job security
and unless you're third world, the money is pretty decent.
Hey /biz/
Im taking an introductory level economics course, and have some questions about the basic law of supply and demand.
Supply goes up as price goes up, correct? But if I own my own business, I am setting the prices. So if I raise the price of an item, wouldn't it be risky to supply more, because less people would buy the item at a higher price, no? I would have just wasted a lot of money on an item that isn't selling.
Also, a tax question. If a business sees that income taxes go up, they would have to lower prices to not lose customers that now have less money. So the consumer loses money to taxes, but 'gains' money when stores mark down prices. So wouldn't raising taxes help the overall economy if you lose money, but the power of your money goes up?
price goes up as supply goes down
think of it like a rare pokemon card
The best answer is that as supply goes down, price goes up.
If you and your competition have 1,000 items and 500 customers, you have to lower prices to incentivise customers to buy your over someone else's. If you and your comp have 100 items and 500 customers, then if a customer wants to get one the have to be will ing to pay more than everyone else in order to get it. Prices are rarely ever set by you, they are set (theoretically) by your competition and customers.
>>1755138
Supply is the supply of every firm on the market not just your firm. Also in the simple two line model they show you it is assumed that it is a competitive market so you changing the price is irrelevant as all the goods are the same. Only monopolies can set prices on their products. If for example some technology change increases the amount of tomatoes all firms can produce, this is a increase in supply that reduces the price as they are easier to make and more numerous. If all the crops get wiped out that is a reduction in overall supply and firms must take a higher price to remain in business.
No the tax's burden is split between the consumer and the producer. The producer raises the price some fraction which is given to the consumer, further a lower quantity of goods is produced because the tax raised the equilibrium price. This lower quantity of goods available to consumers has caused a loss of wealth in society.
How do I make money off this, /biz/? Suppressors will be available for everyone in a short time with the passage of the Hearing Protection Act.
This is obviously huge news, but I don't know what to buy (particular stocks, assets, etc ...). I 'm having trouble finding stocks that are tracking suppressors.

how weird would it be to go back to college you already finished(ass. degree) but a completely different program? is it abnormal to have more than 1 ass. degree?
>>1755081
it is actually quite common to go for multiple degrees. it is less common if they are unrelated degrees but some people have changes in their life that can adjust their world view and what they want to do for a living. If you do get multiple degrees though they tend to recommend degrees that mesh together to better impact your profile for being hired.
>>1755081
Wait you're gonna get another associate degree? Can you finish a Bachelor's? Too advanced?
>>1755081
hey guys i just graduated and im having a tough time looking for work in electrical engineering. I don't know what to do.. it's so hard to find work. I been applying a lot. Resume and Cover letter seems up to scratch.

Who has read the intelligent investor? thoughts? take aways?
>>1755032
buy low and sell high
you have the right to say no to high prices. don't be emotional and follow the herd strategy. Examine the margin of safety when investing in stock.
Most of this is lost on /biz/ users though as they invest instead in currencies or volatile penny stocks for get rich quick schemes.

Ain't no friend worth having if he's trying to cock-block your money making.
Tell him to go fuck himself, hide your friendship from co-workers and go make your paper.

Children need male role models in their lives, even if it's not their father. Don't let the father see the child unless he brings the Benjamin's ($100s) if you know what I mean. We respectable ladies rarely get in any trouble for this. Worst case, he'll have to pay a lawyer to force you to share custody eventually if he's a cheapass. You won't even need a lawyer for that and it'll fuck him financially lolol girl
I'm a neet in Ontario Canada.
How can I become successful or at least financially independent in the next five to ten years?
Is it worth getting a job here? It seems like there's lots of tax credits and incentives for people who work but don't make all that much. How can I cash in on those optimally?
>>1754958
If you are a white male those incentives are not for you.
>>1754967
They don't discriminate based on race though
>>1754958
In Ontario they do nothing to promote genuine success. The politically created environment encourages welfare leeches. Sorry pal but the systems not for us. We got to get things done swimming against the tide.
I've got

I'd rather try and become self employed in the time that I have rather than trying to find a job and wagecucking it the rest of my life. I can live comfortably off of $2k a month - that's a decent starting goal for me.
I'm not asking for a fully worked out solution. Just a little direction and some general advice as to how I can reach my goal.
