Alright /biz/, Convince me that ethereum is worth my money. The fine print on the project is alarmingly long. Its been around since 2014 and still seems pretty on the low (By that i mean, they claim to have been crowdfunded by many but i havent really heard of it until recently). I understand that cryptos can change over night but it seems risky. Help

Hey /biz/ I'm coming up against a bit of a wall here.

I'm trying to find a job that pays decently, and involves being far away from civilization.

I can't stand living in a huge city. I don't like the large amounts of people, the garbage, the 24/7 noise, any of the caveats of living in a large metropolitan area.

I've tried looking at caretaker positions, but those rarely pay, and nowadays it seems that more are actually asking for money instead.

I don't care if it's in the middle of a forest, a deserted island, grassy plains, artic tundra, just let it be somewhere faraway from large urban centers, and pay a living wage.

Anyone know where I can browse to look for job listings that fit this description?

Look at jobs for McMurdo research station or the South Pole research station. Both in Antarctica and extremely secluded, especially if you work during the winter. If you're not a scientist, you can get in as a cook, electrician, plumber, administration, etc. Look at Lockhead Martin, I know they are one of the several companies that hire people for out there.

May not be relevant to you but I have a degree in math and tutor online for like $30/hr.

Probably not enough to live on but I just use it to fill a few hours in my schedule to make a bit of side cash. Need a degree or something though

What do you guys think of the food industry?

seems like there's serious bucks to be made in there, especially in it being the infinite demand and everyone lacking the very basic knowledge of the kitchen.

it's susceptible to competition by grocery stores.

after 16 years in food service management I came to the conclusion that the only people getting rich off it are owners, and they usually profit off of the real estate, brand, and cash flow rather than strictly off the profits of the business. Margins are slim, advancement beyond a certain point is unlikely. Turnover is high, pay is mediocre unless you're the GM or head chef. The market outlook is extremely competitive and getting worse. Risk is extremely high at all levels.

as businesses go it's marginally better than brick and mortar retail but that's not saying a lot. Both are businesses for the wealthy and the huge chains. Unless your family happens to own a restaurant, in which case you might as well go for it because the entry costs are already paid.
>>
>>1773020
>everyone lacking the very basic knowledge of the kitchen.
also this point is worth addressing-
career cooks and restaurant staff in general are a diamond dozen. No education required, anybody of the right temperament can and has done it. Tons of competition in that regard, a significant fraction of the population has worked in restaurant kitchens and thinks they're perfect for running a business. Most of them are wrong about their business acumen.

it's not knowledge of the kitchen that matters, it's business management skills that pay off for owners. You genuinely cannot get away with being the average idiot or felon or pot-head. You need to actually know how to spot and exploit a valuable niche. You don't learn that from frying people's dinner.
>>
Unless you can get a meme going then jack up the prices, it's a tough market with all sorts of competition

Is there any other SaaS business owners out there? Currently in the start up phase. Have gone with this niche before and had success.

what do you have to offer to be successful?
how do you find products people will pay for?

Srs. I focused my academic attention on tech/creative shit, have a job now making 55k.
In college I shyed away from anything related to business, Econ, finance whatever. I saw people almost killing themselves to get straight A's to make it to investment banking and i thought it was all dumb and for type A assholes.
Then I just got dated a girl who was super into finance, is on her way to doing investment banking and is super ambitious- and I was BTFO by her economic knowledge and her ambition.

Now I want to learn how to finance so I can be an ambitious business bro. Fuck tech betas.

Where do I start reading and learning?

Do you think Murray Rothbard, Ludwig von Mises, or Peter Schiff are legitimate economists? If so, you're probably retarded.

However, if you just like Friedman, Hayek, and Laffer, but also like to smoke weed every now and then, you're probably fine.

Well, Kid. You are asking that on /biz/, not in a College, to a Professor.

I guess Yes

/biz/ shill a lot of investing books but how about books to help get the job you want?

Pic related. I was a tool before, memorizing hundreds of Q&As for job interviews to look intelligent, when I just looked like a damn robot. This book taught me how to take control of the direction of the interview and how to play up to what the interviewer really wants to hear. Very recommended.

who cares youve been paid for it

Anyone else feel that works sucks? I waste the best hours of my day, 5 days a week for chicken feed.

And I'm not talking about dead-end jobs or low pay. I enjoy my job, I get paid pretty well, I just hate the fact my life revolves around my job more than anything else.

How do I escape this? I don't care about getting rich, I just want to be comfortable and work maybe 2-3 days a week. What are my options?

Here's my plan to achieve similar goals.
>Work
>Save up $100k or get loan for $100k
>Buy established gas station, convenience store with $30k annual profit
>Continue working
>Save/borrow another $100k
>Buy another gas station
>Rinse & repeat until the stores are making you enough money to quit your job

I would've had my first store already but I'm very young so I decided to buy foreign cars instead. I don't really regret the decision. However, good plan nonetheless. Does not necessarily have to be a gas station but it must be an established business with verified financials to minimize risk.

You're welcome.

1) Max your savings rate for early retirement: http://www.mrmoneymustache.com/2012/01/13/the-shockingly-simple-math-behind-early-retirement/

2) 1), but downshift to part time work instead of full retirement

3) 2), but just switch to part time immediately. Minimize time spent at work while still being able to pay bills.

4) Switch careers

5) Go all out in your job, aiming for a promotion, starting your own business, something like that.

6) Clock out mentally, grind out your work time, and spend nights + weekends on hobbies/family/shitposting

Actual citizen from Guadalajara here working for SAP (abap) here

We are not Sillicon Valley for being genious developers , the thing here is that we´re above average developers (for mexico standarts) aaand we are cheap to hire.

I Wouldn´t recomend STARTING here , however a lot of succesfull startups that originated in the US and then moved here are getting a lot of support from the goverment.

Also , offer flexible working hours and we will sell our soul to you
