Is there a possibility of online commodities like Bitcoin or Litecoin being suitable standards for money or for being the exchange-standard for money, seeing as they can balance each other through market stability, much like Gold did with Silver or the dollar in the past? They also have a very high liquidity preference under Keynesian economics because of the low output and carrying costs.

Yes/no?

Well which one do you think is feasible within ten years? Money? Or the exchange-standard?

Twenty?

It profits the private sector in the short term, but in the long term it makes the economy less stable.

BUSINESS IDEA:

What if we made a /biz/ group and collaborated to give terrible, negative reviews on a decided upon business and then contacted them extorting them for payment to remove the negative reviews, and additional payment for positive reviews?

I think this could constantly work if we tried it on small businesses.

Better idea:
Start a network of people working in the world of finance to generate rumors and "tips" with the purpose of sinking businesses or launching them into success.

So which % of money should I use for basic stuff (food, housing, education, etc), which % for non-basic stuff like clothes, entertaintment, etc and which % should I save/invest.

Also Im just a normal 20 yo guy that studies medicine (Im from Europe so I dont have to pay for education).

Depends on your GDP

your first goal will always be saving 10% net income. upwards of 40-50% saving will allow you to retire comfortably in a reasonable fashion. anything above that allows you to pre-retire in your 40s-50s, assuming you dont plan on living above your current means

Hello. First time here.

I'm going to university soon for 4 years. The uni I'm going to expressly tells students not to get any jobs (except for holiday ones) because they want us to focus on our studies.

Is there any way to supplement my termtime student stipend without getting an hourly job? Like, freelance work or something? I'm a mathematician, I dont know if that qualifies me for anything...?

Your university is fucking retarded.

You'd be retarded not to work at least part time. You'll have a lot of down time, especially during your last two years.
>>
>>1774607

its a very good university i think. they say the policy is needed because otherwise nobody will be able to keep up with the workload.

What school tells students not to work?

Hi,

Who can give me a class or some stuff (not wikipedia stuff) about Austrian Economics?

Why Austrian Economics should (not) be taken seriously?
10 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Almost no math whatsoever. Just like Marxism.
>>
I don't really support Austrian Economics but here's a short list.

The Road to Serfdom by F. A. Hayek
The Common Market the case against - Enoch Powell
Bernie Sanders is Wrong - Tom Woods
"Karl Marx and the close of his system" - Eugen Bohm Bawerk
Socialism + Human Action - Ludwig von Mises
Jörg Guido Hülsmann: Mises: The Last Knight of Liberalism
>>
>>1774515
Economics in general is bullshit and backward looking.

Hey /biz, I just want you to know that time here isn't all wasted. I found out about Pasalcoin when it was still cu mineable, mined a little over 10,000 coins, then sold them all when it got listed on Poloniex and made about $10,000.

So, lurk here and keep your eyes open. Opportunity is out there if you keep at it.

Cheers!

Why did you decide to mine this shitcoin out of 9999999 others?

seems like you had luck
>>
>>1774393
Not really, I mined it too ; it was so heavily shilled on /biz/ with Zcash and everything else in september that I figured "why not, costs me nothing"
>>
>>1774393
Yeah my biggest regret is not mining zcash as well. I mined it because it was the only coin that I came across at the time that could be CPU mined. Actually i'm pretty sure most shitcoins are difficult to mine or are just PoS at this point, so there really weren't a lot to choose from.

>Option 1: I get a job, but it will most likely be a shitty dead end one because of my 0 connections and no work experience. I will have to wake up half dead at 6 am in the morning every day, miserable and depressed, work 15 hours for barely minimum wage while watching chad fug stacies, run marathons for charity (which he hosts), all the while just doing 5 hours of real work which tbf will be enough to make him CEO one day. I will also have to pay 70% of my salary in rent, 20% in travel expenses, and the rest in whatevers left to prevent me from killing myself.
>Option 2: I continue being a NEET and get to wake up anytime I want, eat anything I like, and play video games, watch movies/anime all day long; with the only downside being having to endure my parents shout at me for being a failure in life every once in a while.

You tell me which is the most logical option to choose from here

Loser mentality. You're going to go with option two anyway you slice it, so fuck off and stop spreading your bullshit to others.
>>
>option 3: get comfy night-shift job paying $15/hr, continue living at home, invest half your wages, and go to school part-time in the day.

This is just like option 1 though

Finance questions:

I just moved to a new city because I graduated and I got hired at a pretty awesome job

I am currently making 50k a year and I do not have any type of student loans

Since I moved to the city I have nothing in my apartment except a bed.

I was planning on buying a couch and a nice T.V

If I put both the T.V and couch on my credit card and it takes me a month + 2 weeks to pay off the entire debt.. will that hurt my credit?

I know I should pay it all off before the end of the month but I feel like if I pay 80% of it off within the month and the additional 20% within the next 2 weeks... I should be ok, right?

>>
>>1774211
just get a 1 year 0% apr card. spending money on credit always drops your credit score.
>>
>>1774261

It actually helps your credit card score if you pay it off that fast
>>
>>1774211
Why would you not just wait 2 months to buy those things

>25 year old Finance undergrad/masters grad
>work for undisclosed bank in lower-wealth management
>essentially work with accountants to help middle class families get their finances in order
>often family-planning style work, answering questions on how to invest for a child's college fund, paying off debt while still building up retirement, etc...

So I thought I would actually contribute here in my own thread. Going to make these once a day (assuming the thread is autosaged or off the board)

Ask any questions related to beginner/intermediate finance, investing, debt management, financial planning, etc. and I'll try to et you a detailed answer by the end of the day.

So the basic advice I always hear is
>pay debts before investing, in order of interest rate
>have enough liquid assets for a few months of bad luck
>look at tax advantages
>index funds
What's your take on this? Whats your first few points of advice beyond that?

wow what the fuck? Why is there no big news about this? They're throwing away almost 20 years of history, even if it's just people complaining all the time. This actually bothers me.

Cash in on this man, no one wants to fucking transition from a forum to Facebook/Twitter those platforms are not sufficient for actual discussion. Create the next IMDb message board.

It depends on what field you are in.

Otherwise, get a job with whatever company in your field to gain credentials, then start applying to higher level jobs afterwards. Or utilize your alumni network.

I went to an okay state school and ended up getting a job at a company because the owner and I shared the same alma mater and had a lot to talk about.

Hey /biz/, redpill me on why it's worth studying business (and finance) over medicine.
I am currently studying Business while having decent grades, but I'm kinda unhappy with it.
I feel like medicine, despite the lower salary, has much more to offer and I won't be unhappy forever with it. But I don't know whether the grass just "seems" to be greener on the other side.

Medicine is too much commitment. You can work in the medical industry without being a doctor anyways. Look at Martin Shkreli for example.

Going to school for business is like learning how to drive by reading a book. You're already retarded.
