How risky is trading currency?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.

>>
>>1775868
very high risk.

assuming a diversified portfolio I wouldn't recommend risking any more than 5% of your portfolio in trading currencies. This is to protect you from wild currency swings and also to ensure you know what you are doing before you decide to put more into it.
>>
>>1775868
i used to long certain currencies because they had a periodic swing they went up in the winter and went down in the summer. i could make serious enough money on it with low risk. but it's over now.

Germany is often accused of having an undervalued currency or dumping wages to export more. Is that true?
14 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
German wages are actually quite high and some of the highest in the world, trailing only slightly behind the US.

Most German exports are also highly sophisticated goods, like luxury cars. So they are hardly winning by simply producing cheap.
>>
The Mark would be far more expensive than the Euro, so yes, using a depreciated version of your currency by roping some idiot Greeks into a scam is equivalent to devaluing your currency.
>>
>>1775887

Why did so many countries join the Euro then, if it actually weakens them?

There are many Eastern European countries still willing to join the Euro, waiting in line.

You niggers heard of this graphene stuff? Been all over the news again lately and I'm starting to feel like it could be the next huge advancement, how does one go about investing in it/is it worth investing in?

there's just no good production methods rn and graphene is fairly old news. I think we'll see it become extremely popular eventually, but I'm not sure if that will be in 5 years or 25 years.

LMT has a good patent for graphene water filters but idk if they've done anything with it. LMT also has shot up a shit ton recently with the f35/trump programs.

BASF, Dupont, DOW are probably other good companies to look into

I could use some help with this stuff as I'm not a financial guy

>Be me

>No raises yet, they keep saying to just "wait"
>How can I renegotiate my salary and possible get some stock options out of it
>What is it going to take
>Can someone also explain how to start an IRA?

from my experience you should just take the initiative. I wasted huge amount of my time wasting like that.

Only advice i can give you:
Get to know the environment they are playing. Try to identify some opportunities in the field, or better yet make some opportunities.

1. Why do you care about stock options as compensation?

You sound like you're not powerful enough to have any impact whatsoever on stock price, so do you just want them for meme appeal?

2. Your boss will dick you around if you have no leverage. At the same time they also don't want to cave in for no reason, i.e. just because you asked nicely.

Since you haven't given important information (e.g. which industry your corporation is in, what your job is, what your experience level is, how shit you are at your job), we can't help you there.

Your leverage might be: offering to spearhead an initiative that requires work and makes your boss look good, causing your coworkers to be fired/quit, comparing your salary to similar jobs, interviewing for other jobs to actually get a job offer, or going into work on your own.

3. To setup an IRA, go to Vanguard. You can contribute up to $5500 a year, likely into a target date fund for a year close to your retirement.

If you're poor, you want it to be a "Roth" IRA. If you're not, you want it to be a regular one and take the tax deduction.

Note: This is separate from a 401(k), which you get through work. Talk to HR about that.
>>
>>1775668
>how to start an IRA?
I'm not exaggerating in any way, shape, or form by saying that you literally need to just sign up a free acount on Fidelity or some other platform's website.

>step 1 - go to website of place you want to open your Roth IRA (don't worry about regular IRA's until you can max your Roth IRA annually [which means putting the legal limit of $5,500 in a Roth IRA which doesn't ever get taxed]

> step 2 - click "open roth account"

> step 3 - sign up with email, username, password, and a Social Security number

> step 4 - put money in new account by linking your checking account to it

> step 5 - start trading stocks/bonds/indexes/mutual funds/penny stocks/whatever your silly heart desires

> step 6 - enjoy watching money grow into atleast a million dollars before 60 if you mostly invest in index funds, meaning you retire with a high salary as it is and maybe a 401k...? You'll live life large but retire even larger with that tax free withdrawal.

Step 6.5 - Once you have the Roth IRA maxed at $5,500 a year, open a brokerage account and start putting nearly $5,500 a year in that one too as your next annual goal

Step 6.56 - Watch as both accounts grow while you invest in very safe bets like indices and mutual funds with the IRA, and more risky ventures like blue chip stocks and options with the brokerage

In the end, even with a stock market crash you're in the clear because your roth IRA never needs to stop buying Index Funds, since you will always spend $5,500 on them a year, meaning during depression/recession your investment potential goes way up, and when the economy recovers after however long, you'll have even MORE than you should have.

Start maxing that shit out now and you'll be a guranteed millionaire in the long run.

For irrelevant reasons, I have ended up with some shares from a privately held company.
What the fuck can I do with these shares? From what I get, I'm on my own trying to find someone that for some strange reason would want to buy them as well as at which price.

Sorry for the dumb thread, but you guys don't have a QTDDTOT thread.

Bump for interest, always been curious about what people do with shares in privately held companies.
>>
>>1775635
If the company has any future, just holdon to it and collect the dividends. You basically own shares in its purest form, thus making you one of the owners who are entitled to a share of the profits.

If the company ever gets a stock market notation, those shares will become tradable at a price much higher than what they're worth now.

The only way to sell them right now, and I strongly advise you not to, is the company itsself so they rebuy their own shares.
>>
>>1775681
How does one exactly go about collecting dividends?
These shares are kind of uh, orphaned from any brokers or such. As in, all the paperwork is fine, they even show up when checking the owned assets at the gov site that regulates such things, but there's no link between owner and any other relevant party.

I have an incredibly large 11 year old fap folder full of pictures and videos that are nicely organized. Most of it is pretty normie shit like non-nude, tight clothes, candids, some nudes, ass shots, boob shots, etc. Some of these pics and videos are very rare or at least hard to find and you pretty much wont find them on the internet anymore most likely. Is there a way to make money with all of this?

Most foolproof way to shut them down is to say you rent the house and can't make any decisions. Or say you're not interested in paying for shit for a house you just rent. They chuckle and move on. So easy.

is there any real reason to buy instead of rent other than ego
106 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
do the math, it depends
>>
Because if no one bought then there'd be no places for you to rent.
>>
>>1775465

The only time I'm going to buy instead of rent is when I'm going to rent it out.
I've done the math a few years back and calculated different scenarios. For me it only makes sense if I'm going to rent it out.

Don't know if it would be different if I've lived in a different country. Germany here.
