Inflation is a meme

>tfw she will never be your teen love
>>1776753
Yup. Pretty much since '85 in the US, we've not really had much.
Did anyone else decide to go to law school here?
>>1776741
No.
It seems like a boring, shit career. I can't see why anyone would go into it for any other reason than the money which probably has something to do with the fact that the job market is supersaturated.
>>1776741
I'm considering it, but I've heard rumors (and seen) that the market is over-saturated.
>>1777037
It's like playing Russian roulette with your life. There are a certain number of big firm jobs "biglaw" that pay $180,000 starting, and then everyone else starts at $45,000 to $100,000... if they can find a job at all.
>Harvard/Yale/Stanford/Columbia will give you 90% chance of getting biglaw.
>Top 14 ranked law schools, you have to finish in the top 50% of the class 1L year
>top 25 ranked schools, top 25%
>top 50, top 10%
>top 100, top 5%
>ranked any lower and you're basically not even considered
What would be a good business to start I have 10,000$ and can get a loan if needed
>>1776732
for 10k you can sell (costume jewlery) from a mall kiosk
>>1776738
doesn't the mall charge a huge fee for that though
Could also start a concrete business
Is international business a meme degree?
What's better?
Advanced kneepad studies.
>>1776704
Yes.
Dual B.S Maths and Finance
then PhD Maths
then MBA from top tier school
It can be great if you do it with a year or two study abroad. Get a part time job in the summer or during school year and try to work that into a full time job.
If you only study in your home country and think you'll work overseas, it will be tough.
Hey /biz/ I'm in highschool and slowly I am realizing I am not good at anything.
My father was an engineer and I wanted to be one for a while but I feel like my soft skills are better than my technical skills so sales would better suit me.
lol at my situation when they are child prodiges who are have mastered calculus at the age of 4 or who have completed their phd's at the age of 18.
What do I do /biz/?
>>1776646
Next time you're doing some kind of high school fundraiser test your affinity for sales out. Instead of just having your parents buy 36 chocolate bars because you're a fucking pleb try to actually move some merch. If you like the experience at least you'll know.
>>1776646
You choose something you enjoy doing and you go ALL IN, wether its programming, designing, working with your hands or playing poker.
You become obsessed by it and completely explore every bit of information.
Dedicated hard work > Lazy genius
Take risks, no risks . . . no reward
(also pepecash is a good investment right now)
>>1776646
in highschool I was border-line retarded playing vidya RLY the whole day.
then I took a subject I was interested in and am now making my PhD in it.
Can anyone help me to understand the concept of duration of bonds and the properties of interest rate risk?
>>1776615
Bonds are shitty. If you buy a bond, and interest rates increase before the maturation date, you have a bond worth less than what you paid for it.
So that's interest rate risk. Are you asking for a particular formula for your homework or something?
>>1776615
The duration of a bond is the length of time utill payment is due. A $10K five year bond means that the bond issuer will pay the bond holder 10K five years from the date of sale. So a 10K 5 year bond at 5% interest would sell for $7835.26.
Interest rate risk is the risk that rates will change during the duration of the bond. When interest rates rise, bond prices fall. You can buy an older bond on the secondary market that will be due at the same time as another bond. I.e. you can buy a 1 year bond today @3% or a 4 year old 5 year bond @5%. The lower rate of return for the 1 year bond means the price is higher than at a higher interest rate. That means the 5 year bond is worth more now that it was expected 4 years ago.
>>1776640
>If you buy a bond, and interest rates increase before the maturation date, you have a bond worth less than what you paid for it.
That is only an issue if you do not hold the bond until maturity. Though, your point is why most of us buy bond funds.
>TFW shilled my family and friends into switching to a better mobile carrier and putting me down as their referral
>TFW my cellphone plan is literally almost free now, and soon will be
well?
>>1776537
Cellphone contracts are rip-offs. If you're not using pre-paid you're a fucking sucker.
Good job ripping off your family for some temporary discount, you low-rent bitch.
>>1776578
It is pre-paid, faggot
>Temporary discount
It's literally subsidizing my cellphone plan. You get $1/mth discount for every faggot you refer
Am I missing something? Unless trade schools are a few grand they aren't fucking cheap, yet they are always recommended when people either don't want to go to college or have debt or something. Never specific either about what you should actually learn, most people would hate being a plumber or welder.
pic unrelated
>>1776533
biz is a SFW board
are you retarded? CC's are cheap as fuck and most offer trades.
sage
>>1776553
no they aren't cheap at all, no one is ever specific and acts like a "trade" is decently safe bet, and there is that image is SFW, no actual nudity
Having a trade lets you open your own business very easily to escape the wageslave life
/pol/ here, wanting to know the full effects of Trump repealing Dodd/Frank, what exactly will this mean for our economy?
Hahahahaha. Well, Dodd/Frank is a piece of Legislation. "Repealing" it by Executive Order is unlawful, so... you ever hear the phrase Constitutional Crisis? You're going to hear it a lot soon.
>>1776499
You could at least answer the question.
>>1776507
What will it mean for the economy? Take a look at fucking Turkey's economy since Erdogan or the Phillipines since Duterte.
You have 10 seconds to give me ONE good reason why you aren't investing in this man
he cares too much about his outside appearance to be a smart businessman
>>1776470
He's self-made and worth $13,000,000,000.
You don't accomplish that by being dumb
Because he doesn't own solarcity yet
I've been using Excel and OneNote for so long what kind of programs or apps do you guys recommend for keeping track of your personal finance?
>>1776404
Mint for tracking values and Excel for projecting them.
>>1776404
Excel mostly.
Mint refuses to track my bank account for some reason, but I can download my statement log in CSV, so it doesn't bother me too much.
>>1776404
Pen and paper.
Or you can be a millenial snowflake and buy one of those faggy apps.
Hello /biz/
I recently lost my job under some "unique" circumstances. I had only been working at this place for a month. The long and short of it was that I gave a particularly cunty manager some lip and she, with the assistance of a long-time female employee, falsified a sexual harassment allegation and used it as grounds to fire me (this didn't happen, I even asked that the camera footage be reviewed by other managers in an attempt to clear my name; it didn't work and their "investigation" hasn't went any further and it's been a week).
Now, because I have bills to pay, I've just come back from looking for another job with some applications and I'm wondering what the best way to go about listing this would be.
Thanks in advance
Sue your past employer, don't put them on your rez claiming famy illness if they question the gap

no money for a lawyer
im a senior in high school and this was supposed to be a shitter job i could use to put gas in my truck and save some money for the real world
>>1776397
Most lawyers will take a cut of the winnings. Alternatively file a complaint with the labor bureau and osha.
What is your endgame and how will you get there?
>Wall Street/HF
>get internships from family friends in IB
>hs had internship program, already have a couple of years of experience from that
>use experience to gain entry into IB, where I build my network
>after 3-4 years, get job at HF and work my way up the ladder
>live in the highest tax bracket
>be successful with 2 kids and a big house that's paid off
>2 vacations a year
>retire at 50 (or 40 if I work hard enough)
>send my kids to ivy league schools
>make sure they graduate without non meme degrees
>die of pancreatic cancer
All I want out of life
The Presidency.
>Establish business

Cybersecurity job making >$80k
>start as IT bitch
>get more certs
>pay through college with minimal denbts
>do internships, hopefully the kind that turn into a job after graduation
>buy a nice used car, maybe a nice regular house if it seems like a mortgage won't fuck me over
>pay them off early

>once financially stable and done with all the fun stuff I can maybe ruin my life with kids or something
I don't think it's too much of a stretch.
yes if you want to buy ethereum then do it
>>1776298
depends on how much, it's at a billion dollar marketcap and i dont know how much more it can go up.
i think ETH is making decision to go to proof of stake this year, which means no one will be mining, and GPU miners will most likely switch over to ETC
https://medium.com/@VitalikButerin/a-proof-of-stake-design-philosophy-506585978d51#.l82tztbc1
if you got a lot of money, and think ether will be worth more in the future, then yea, i would do it. but if you have low capital, definitely check out some other cryptocurrencies for potential higher return
>>1776307
What would you recommend, I'm talking around £1000, something I can just sit on for a few years and maybe make a couple £
Are there any legit ways to make money online?
I'm using Mturk, which is helping but I want to make more money
>>1776249
>Brown ID
Move out of india
>>1776249
How much you make from mTurlk? Thought about it but seemed to much for too little.
Thanks in advance.
>>1776249
I tried to get into it, but for some reason mturk denied me. but honestly you can't make any big money doing shit like that.
