Small town America is so fucking useless

They make ZERO contributions to America. They will never make a successful product or business. They will never donate to a charity or a real organization trying to help the world

They will continue to disable the world. They will do nothing but buy beer and molest children while hardworking people are construction cities, creating charity, and helping the economy

Small towns are a FUCKING curse that stop anyone with true protential born in them.

Any redneck...should be slayed. Small towns should be forced to shut down. Anyone with potential should get assistance living there and anyone wanting to live there should either contribute to the global economy or be slaughtered.

I feel so bad for children born there. We need to start a movement to fucking destroy these places to help children all over America

How are we defining small town?

I live in a 20,000k population area. We make warships, fire extinguishers, and paper. Seems pretty useful.

Half hour north there's a town of 1,000, they make parts for cars and planes. Another ways from all of that are a few towns with only a couple hundred people. They make food.

Food seems pretty useful, unless you want to start eating crickets like the rest of the world.

Freelancing feels thread.

> Be me.
> Freelance programmer.
> Making really good money for all of second half of last year, from June up until about the end of December.
> Was drunk and lazy pretty much that entire time.
> Make New Year's resolution to work harder and make more money.
> Actually follow through; double work hours and quit booze completely.
> Income actually goes down, because freelancing is about 80% luck in the short term (and I always find January and February shit months for whatever reason).

Any other freelancers know these feels?

How do you handle the income roller coaster and feeling that your income has little to do with how much you're actually working?

I'm at a point in my life where I'd really like to have more financial stability so I could spend more of my income instead of having to always save money to prepare for the next 'draught', but I just hate the idea of kissing some boss's ass. I also here jobfags talking about shit like diversity training and tech companies that just makes me want to want to stay as far away from the 9-5 world as I can possibly get. That sort of thing just isn't me.

Do you charge per hour, then?

As a graphic designer, I almost always charge per project. It just makes sense, given that the market value for everything I do is vastly different (photography, copywriting, web development, etc. are completely different). But most importantly, income is more steady that way, regardless of the work I put in. Clients don't care whether it took me 2 hours or 40 hours if they can bring out the company checkbook to pay me the amount we originally agreed on.

I last saw Tonald at the Bitmex main office early Monday morning. While we typically only offer x100 leverage, Tonald insisted we allow him to open a x1000 short position against BTCUSD.

He assured us the 400k USD he recently deposited to his Bitmex account were the legitimate proceeds of a home loan. After threatening a legal suit against our company we eventually gave in and granted Tonald the position.

Tonald was relieved at first but as BTCUSD began raising become visibly angry and began threatening employees. Security was called and Tonald was escorted off the property.

Several hours larer we were forced to liquidate the position.

We have not heard from Tonald since.

It's still fucking bullshit.

If I have a plumber friend who fixes my sink and as a favor to him I take a look at his sore tooth, I have to pay taxes on that.

It's absolute bullshit.

Let's say I have $100 in Savings and a skill set which I agree to use for a friend.

I now have to give up my $100 in taxes for legally being helpful.

What is a comfortable percentage of your pay that goes to monthly expenses?

I'm feeling kind of suffocated now with all my monthly bills. Money is in canadian pesos.
+ $2000 pay a month
- $1350 monthly expenses from ... $500 rent, $450 car insurance, $250 student loan payments, $100 permanent insurance payments, $50 cellphone plan

Gas is not very much since it's only 15km one-way. Perhaps the car is what I should cut off if I want to save money but I really really don't fancy using the bus an hour one-way for 15km.

That leaves me with $650 a month to work around with for gas, eating out, whatever.

Is it acceptable to be only putting 10% ($100 in this case) of my pay into savings or paying off my student loan in bulk?

>>
Instead of cutting something out have you thought about trying to earn more money?
>>
>>1803512
This. Are you working full time? $2,000 a month isn't much.
>>
>>1803512
I just graduated a couple years ago so I'm just about done milking work experience from my current entry-level job. That's definitely something else I'm looking into, and I can probably hope to bump up my pay to $2200-$2400 monthly. Job prospects for newly graduates don't really look great around the Toronto area.

been with it for 3 weeks now. ETFs are solid but returns are less than expected given how much money I put in. is it worth it? am I overestimating my returns? is acorns better or are they both memes?

Why not get Robinhood and directly invest in ETFs and the like?
>>
>>1803314
investing is a very slow process and returns take time to accumulate. Part of returns can be dividends which are usually every 3 months while appreciation of stock price generally is a slow up and down slide, but up in the very long term.

>>1803578
I looked at both options a while ago and will provide my input on this.

If you want to buy fractional shares and be less involved (more advice) then Stash is the better choice.

If you want no hand holding and don't care about fractional shares then Robinhood is better.

Dividend modification can be an issue also but I prefer to use it to reinvest how I want it, making Robinhood superior. Some people like it automatically reinvested.
>>
>>1803578
Quick question, was thinking about tryin robinhood with like 100 bucks to toy around for a bit. Do I have to file the profits I make as taxes (college student no job)

I'm creating a chart of historical price data to determine correlation across asset classes. I've started with all nyse tickers, but this is getting tough.

remeber historical data doesn't predict future trends. Assets will develop correlations and then they will stop correlating for underlying causes
>>
Op here.
Part 2 of this plan would be to find the underlying cause of the correlation.

Hey /biz/, college faggot here.
In my first year doing general education courses, and I have some questions you may be able to answer well enough.

Is a bachelor's in accounting going to be worth it?
Is this a flooded field?
Would finance be the better option?
Is there a chance to make big bux in the future?

I'm a lost retard and computer science is my current major.
Thanks in advance.

finance is pretty much just an upgraded version of accounting

harder courses, harder certification exams, a little worse job market (accounting is god tier in this area), but moderately higher pay and less overall wageslavery

just take a class or two to find out if you like it or not instead of asking an Malaysian basket weaving forum for career advice

> How is it free?
"People" invest your settled funds when you're not using them, just like banks.

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, why?
Robinhood graphs are shit and only show you an average, not true real-time prices. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.

> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
Real brokers, like TDAmeritrade's thinkorswim. Otherwise you should be using stockcharts.com, finviz, or a non-pile-of-shit for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

I dont know if this was the proper board for this so excuse me if its not.

I have been living with my girlfriend for several years now and we never wanted to get married, have a wedding or things like those that most couples do.

But I've been thinking if we should get married or not. And Im not talking about love or anything like that.

I wanted to ask you guys if I should consider marrying her since we have been living togheter for so long and plan to continue doing so. What I mean is if there are enough finalcial/economic/social/legal/w.e benefits to get married and what are those.
30 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
Depends on where you live. Some states like South Carolina would most likely already consider you married under common law, so if she left you would have to go through a divorce process identical to what a formally married couple would go through.

In cases like that you are already incurring all the massive risks with none of the miniscule rewards.

I stil wouldnt marry her though, you may still stand an iota of a chance in court. But if you formalize it you have none.
