Why do Sam's club and Costco make you get a membership?, wouldn't they sell more if they didn't had that requirement?
>>1805451
They wouldn't sell more than the money they get from selling those memberships.
>>1805451
>wouldn't they sell more if they didn't had that requirement?
No.
Without the fee they have to charge more to turn a profit. With it they charge less and gain very loyal customers.
Before asking questions like this, realize that companies like Costco have incredibly intelligent people advising, running and planning their business. They know what they're doing. They know how to maximize profits. They have undoubtedly compared scenarios and optimized their membership price as to gain the most profit from sales and membership revenue.
Tldr if you're asking this question kys
>make a loan application for $5000 to trade stocks
>bank rejected it
What the actual fuck? I earn 60k a year with 10k in savings, so could easily pay off the loan in my sleep. Why did the bank still reject my loan application?
Because you're white trash
You fucked up...should've said you were going long on NAK and that they were faggots for skipping out on this obvious moon mission. Go to a new branch and try again, stay as verbatim as possible but I understand if you need to improvise a little.
If you trade with interactive brokers, you can easily get a low interest loan for trading
Wanting to start investing in stocks, but have no idea on where to start. Any help on where to start would be appreciated.
With a demo account.
And probably with funds instead of trying to stock-pick on your first trade.

/rhg/ Robinhood General
go there and do EXACTLY as everyone says. If someone says put your life savings on NAK you do it. If someone says PIP is gonna POP you're right there waiting. If someone says you need to get in on DRYS before it moons (moons means its gonna make you a BOAT of cash bra) you get in DRYS and strap yourself in.

What jobs pay relatively well (at least 50,000CAD) and require little-to-no education? I'm okay with dirty jobs. Pest control maybe, that sort of thing. I'd like being a truck driver or garbageman but I'm afraid that robot trucks will replace me within 20 years and I will be right back where I started, except middle aged. I may go to trade school for plumbing but it's almost impossible to get hired as a first year apprentice.
>>1805239
Considered learning programming and going freelance? I'm completely self-taught and doing okay. I would be doing a lot better if I wasn't a socially awkward trainwreck, but I'm not held back by a lack of formal training. I've certainly never had a client ask about my educational background.
>pays well
>little to no education
Pick one retard. This is why white Canada will be extinct in a decade, because of dumb uneducated shit stains like you
>>1805268
It's the well educated who don't breed though.
I am interested how places with potential oil look.
Unless we're talking about surface oil sands (which are a bitch to extract) you can't tell. Subterranean deposits are invisible from above ground. These days exploration is done with satellites, seismic patterns, exploratory drilling - it's not exactly cheap.
Also beware, regardless of who owns the land, natural resources below ground usually belong to the government who liscense mining to companies.
>>1805158
Like this OP.
Grew up drilling and pulling wells.
Kansas and Oklahoma.
Litteraly no way to tell without a geologist. Dude i know has upwords of $40,000,000. Took a loan out of high school and drilled 2 wells. Both dry hole. Bankrupt off his ass when you cant throw a fucking rock without hitting a pumpjack around here.
Once i see wtf trump does about this pipeline shit and fracing in texas I'm paying $150,000 cash and praying it pays off.
I'll invest in oil but i will never take out a loan on something so volitile. Let alone seeing half the town lose their ass.
Truly sad.

Redpill me on "Credit Unions".
I met two people this past month who are involved in Credit Unions, and they're supposedly the same thing as those evil (((banks))) but they care about you for some ambiguous reasons.
I don't get it.
Navy Fed is a pretty goof CU, most of their rates are low, since you have to be military or be related to someone who is.
Not sure about others.
>>1805061
not really any different from a bank
some of us just prefer to avoid big banks
>>1805061
I don't know if this is the case for all credit unions, but in my experience, mine has better interest rates, lower fees, and friendlier service than most banks around here. I think the idea is that it's only as powerful as its users, so they have a more "by the people, for the people" attitude in how they're run.
Yo, /biz/, I need your help.
If anyone is a lawyer in here, who is familiar with AL finance law, I need your advice
I have a buddy who bought a truck from one of those "u buy car here mang. iz gut" places. The original payment was 430 a month.
He made all his payments on time. But somewhere along the line, the pulled the ol' switcheroo on him, and now apparently he's behind on the truck. They increased his payments and now he apparently owes them $2500 in late fees. He is still make the payments but they are repo'ing the truck.
He is a disabled navy vet and he needs the car to get back and forth to the VA and to get his daughter to school.
Wat do?
>>1805026
You'd be better off having a lawyer read the fucking contract. Your friend would also have been better off if he read the fucking contract.
I swear, fucking rednecks. Defunding public education is the worst thing you Cletuses ever thought of.

>Barnett theorized that the company’s stock value would plunge after the explosions, allowing him to cheaply acquire shares of Target stock before an eventual rebound in prices
Why not just short it with an insane margin instead?
Hear me out.
I have dual citizenship in Aus and USA so choice isn't a problem, but I just want to to determine where I should go to university.
I am planning to study computer science. The main points for either side are:
Australia - interest free loans that automatically defer until you earn over like $50k.
USA - better universities with a more employable reputation.
I grew up in Aus and have lived in the SF East bay for a couple years so I'm familiar with both countries. Currently around the Berkeley area and considering doing Community College and then transferring to Cal if I can.
Is the Cal reputation worth the heavier financial stress? Am I an idiot for not jumping immediately at the opportunity to take advantage of the Australian education finance system?
>>1804853
Depends where you want to work. Foreign degrees are not very well recognized by US companies. And if you want to work here, the necessary networking opportunities would be lacking in Aus.
Toronto is not part of the United states. Try harder
>>1804853
Listen here.
You could spend a fortune to get some Ivy League degree or choose a cheap/free university to get your knowledge.
You know what the difference will be? Maybe the first three to five years. Some MIT degree will get you a great starting salary, maybe even open the doors to some great companies. But you'll be paying for massive debt.
Start with some noname University degree, work five years, and you most likely will be on the same level as some MIT graduate. Reputation is worth shit, your experience will determine your value!
There is a reason why some silicon valley managers trash the education system in the US and support students dropping out and starting their own shit. Experience > degree.
Stay in Australia and get experience (internships, jobs, project) as much as possible.
Any advice to get some quick cash? I need extra money by the 24th or i'm fucked. I'm applying for jobs, but there is absolutely no way I will get my first paycheck by the 24th.
Get a job that tips.
its the /biz/ way
>>1804590
>applying for jobs
>jobs are kinda hard to get
>im ugly people dont like me
This is fruitless!! Unless I have a quality group to give me decent tips on which coins to expect to grow, I am trading blind. I should not be trading blind.

Grow over what timeline? We had hundreds of threads on ETH at the end of 2015 and beginning of 2016, with vast majority of /r9k autists screeching "its a russian scam!" / "vitalik is a skeleton". ETH went from sub $1 to $12, with a peak for $20 in between.
If your timeline is greater than a year, go 80% ETH, 20% BTC

What if I'm low on foods and need to predict all the small pump & dumps on Bittrex before I move onto Poloniex and the big boys like Monero, ETC and ETH?
>>1804641
Uhhh yeah sure foods, instead of funds.
>open a small or even non-existent "business"
>make up a market price for every small, minuscule thing you do for anyone but don't charge them for it
>Write off the market value of all that you've done as bartering tax deductions
>Fool the IRS
Why does nobody do this?
Because the IRS doesn't think this kind of shit is cute and they will bend you over if they catch it
>>1804478
But it's in the IRS's own tax law. In fact it's exactly what you're instructed to do for any services you perform.
Are you saying I'll be prosecuted unless I pay more taxes than the tax code tells me to? That doesn't seem constitutional.
>>1804573
Anyone?
I REALLY want to drag this out as long as possible. Im willing to be a little shit if it helps lower the payment.
>>1804144
Go talk to whoever services your loan you moron.
>>1804144
Well you can't go lower than $0 payment.

Is it true that you can not escape student loan debt, not even through bankruptcy? You have to pay no matter what?
Starting my new job today after 3 months of beautiful NEET unemployment. i told them i was making 21/hr at my previous job and they said they will get me around there, if they low ball the shit out of me i can still receive my unemployment right?
>>1804066
>starting a job before you even know what you're being paid
>>1804067
Yeah I know but first thing this morning during all the w2 and paperwork im going to say i was told 20+ at least
>>1804066
You won't get any unemployment if you take the job and it's full time. Don't cancel unemployment until your actually working. I collected 800 after taxes for a year and a half before they kicked me off. At the time, living with parents for free so I'd just go to the bank every few weeks and just bank it all from my unemployment card.
