Debt, lack of education, and living in a location with a terrible job market

>Debt
Trying to pay it off little by little

>Lack of education
Have about $700 more to pay back to the college before I can enroll again. Thinking of Accounting.

>Terrible job market
Once I graduate I plan on moving away. Trying to find a stable full time job, but every thing around here is some menial slavery temp job, part time min wage, or requires a bachelor degree to be a fucking office assistant doing data entry.

Should I even go to work tomorrow?

It's close to my last day on a temp assignment. They chose not to keep me because of attendance. Missed 2 fucking days because a close relative passed away.

I'm certain I have another job lined up with a different temp agency, but Monday I will be going to the temp agency I'm with now to talk about other options.

After taxes, I'll only make like an extra $100 for working tomorrow. 12 hours of menial slave work.

Is it even worth it to leave on a good note through a temp job, or should I just say fuck it and move on to the next? I don't NEED the money but it would be nice. Just doesn't feel worth wasting 12 hours in that shit hole tomorrow.

the only dilemma here is whether the 12 hours or 100 dollars is worth more to you. no one will remember or give 2 damn shits if you "went out on a good note" from a random temp assignment. you seriously went on the internet to ask this question?
>>
>>1819291
Well I'm only on the fence about it because I have bills and I don't 100% have a job lined up. But temps are always pretty quick to find you another placement.

Is $100 worth it to me? Yes. Is spending 12 hours being called retarded, stupid, and lazy because I don't do something that isn't even my job to begin with worth $100? Not really.

Do credit card companies decline your application if you apply for a bunch in a short amount of time?

I applied for 4 credit cards over two days to take advantage of the sign up rewards bonus, but was declined by Amex for some reason.

My credit shouldn't be a factor as I know I have good credit.

They noticed that you had a high amount of recent credit background checks on you since you just got 4. They don't like that and it hurt your credit score
>>
>>1818626
>>>1818619 (OP)

It surely can't hurt enough to get declined if the credit is decent though right? I was under the assumption it just does a temporary marginal bump lower and then goes right back up

Post you are portfolios here and r8/h8/appr8 others

Also a general for advice/help in planning yours.

Pic related, started just over 18 months ago, progress has been good. My general aim has been diversification and picking stuff I think will do well in the future (I'm very bullish on India over long term for example). Overall I've been pretty lucky with everything going up imho, I can't see this run lasting.

I also have 3 buttcoins and rest of money is cash. 22 y/o.

I have about £3k in the Vanguard LS 80% (Acc), at the moment I have £200 a month going into that, it would be more, but I'm currently putting another £300 each month into a 5% regular saver with First Direct. Once that matures I'll probably put the whole £500 a month into it.

I'm lazy as all hell, so don't really feel like I need to be too cute picking stocks, and other equity/bond funds.

I'm currently interested in adding some property to my portfolio, I was looking at adding the Blackrock Property Securities Equity Tracker, (Acc), but not really sure how much to add. I was thinking 10%.

25 y/o by the way

My 401k, which is the focus of my savings right now. My taxable account has too many active choices(individual stocks), and I don't want to let go of them yet(slowly changing..., letting stories play out), so focusing on saving to 401k and passive investing funds and distributed funds.

Has anybody made any money with political betting? What strategies do you have? What kind of models do you use?

I shorted Bernie Sanders early in 2015. He didn't have enough support from minority voters, so I calculated that he could only win the nomination if the US were >75% white. He improved his numbers later in the primaries, but it wasn't enough. I also assumed there would be party fuckery to undermine him, since Bernie was an independent. He was at like 70% no, so I made about $0.30 per share.

I also assumed, sometime in March 2016, that either Trump would win the nomination outright, or the Republican national convention would be brokered/contested/open. Trump was the only candidate who had a realistic path to the majority of delegates, and a lot of the bound Trump delegates were actually Cruz supporters. Those two positions summed to 90-95%, so I made like $0.05 to $0.10 per share.
>>
I made $600 on election night trading forex betting that trump would win

Mostly on British Politics, I got Brexit at 5-1 and made 8000 GBP

My model was to look at the polling companies data (not the headline figures, but the actual tables) and I realised they were over-estimating youth turnout. Once I re-adjusted I figured out Leave would win by a thin margin and got in on it. I wish I bet on the night because odds of 25-1 were flying just after polls closed but I couldn't.

Also betting on bye-elections has been pretty safe so far, not good odds but the winners have been obvious which allowed me to roll up my money a bit.

I have an idea for a business /biz/

It's basically a car parking fine insurance. You buy insurance, the cost of which is based on your risk and history of accumulating parking fines, which say starts at £30 per year per car.

You're then covered for any fines you get, which may sound trivial, but it essentially gives you guaranteed parking anywhere in case of emergencies or half urgent scenarios.

Say you're trying to find a parking space on valentines day for a dinner you've booked with your gf. You drive around a bit but there are no spaces because it's busy. With my insurance you can easily park wherever the fuck you like without worrying about whether or not you'll get slapped with a ticket.

Your mindset with this would be to think that it's ok to do once or twice because you may not get given a ticket anyway, and if you do it's only the once and it's not going to affect your rate that much.

The upside as a business model is that frugal people tend to buy insurance and remain frugal and wouldn't accumulate tickets much anyway.

Anyone think this is a legit good idea? Completely untapped market.

>>
>Every single customer you have gets 20 tickets in the first month because to them, "ticket insurance" means "free parking anywhere"
>they all cancel after the first month and you have to pay for their tickets

Yeah great idea OP, I'll be your first customer.
>>
>>1820218
Also, I have another business idea for you OP. Bankruptcy insurance.

>charge $50/month
>if customer is in danger of bankruptcy your company will bail them out of any and all debt obligations
>same point as your first idea about how frugal people buy insurance and frugal people would totally still be frugal even if they had a get out of jail free card.
>infinite profit

I'll be your first customer for this one as well
>>
>>1820227
>they try to claim for more tickets
>hit the claim limit that all types of insurance have
>try to cancel
>the contract they signed (like all insurance) means they can't or have to pay a cancellation fee

Do you even have the most basic knowledge of insurance? I left those things out because they're standard with insurance

What exactly is the point of this comment? You may have something on your CV but it means absolutely nothing if you're a complete autist and it will show in the interview -_-
>>
felt kinda bad so I thought I'd come back with some useful advice.

1. do you have anything useful to put on your resume?
2. if not, do something useful then put on your resume.

rinse and repeat.

examples include:
>student societies
>voluntary work
>project experience
>other work including part time jobs during study

if you're about to graduate and you have nothing, then I'm sorry to say that you're either going to have to leave it to luck or spend atleast another year doing cheap or free work.
