Are you ready for the worst day of the stock market, ever?
why should something like a black wednesday happen?
>>1825377
Im ready. I jist deposited money into my robinhood account. Gonna wait until the stocks bottom out and start buying.
yeah.. but i just don't get why expect such a hard drop for tomorrow
I just want to create some software or invent something useful or have an investment portfolio where I can earn comfortable passive income (6 figures minimum before I stop trying to earn more money) and spend my days studying theoretical physics (QFT, relativity, cosmology, high-energy physics etc), lifting, going to the beach, partying, fucking hot instagram girls every weekend and getting high on the reg
I'm already doing all these things but I'm wasting time having to deal with all the bullshit of going to uni (working on huge assignments and labs about things I don't give a fucking shit about) and working some menial job just to be able to live.
what are your goals?
>>1825359
Is accounting the bitch of all business degrees?
It seems like a mix between law and finance. From my experience, everyone successful (from business school) has done one of two things: Either go for a 100 % biz degree (meaning finance or econ) or go to an ivy-league school and study some ridiculous nonsense.major like marketing or management and to go work for McKinsey. You never hear about brilliant successful business leaders who majored in accounting, you just don't.
>>1825316
Accounting teaches you how to follow the rules, while finance teaches you how to make money. That said, there are a lot of very complicated rules to be followed and you can do well financially with an accounting degree. As a partner at a decent sized CPA firm or a controller at a big company, you could make $250k+.
>>1825328
>controller at a big company
>250k
Unless you mean CFO when you say controller, I think you're full o' bull
CPA here. Accounting is for people who want a hefty paycheck doing next to nothing but punching a keyboard all day. No mental or physical stress, although some shitty accountants thinks it's a hard job because they suck at math and life in general.

If you don't have an INTJ personality type and a low digit ratio (pic related) you will never be a successful trader.
>>1825020
Also Leos, Scorpios and Geminis will never make good traders.
>>1825026
High digit ratio low-test cucks should stick to index funds.

Both my parents passed away, and I've unexpectedly come into a large amount of money. Over $1 million. What do?
What do people do with this amount of money?
go to a financial advisor, outline what your goals are and get it somewhere out of your hands. after that read a lot of books my dude then revisit the advisor with your knowledge and get it sorted
actually go to a few financial advisors.
>>1824322
Save part of it, say 10 or 5% for an emergency fund. Put the rest on the stock market. VTI is a good starting point.
You'll never get anywhere goyim.

How did StackOverflow win?
And why did yahoo answers and ask.com die?
I have literally never heard of that website in my life. How did they win?
>>1824303
They got all the users which sparked network effects - essentially killing off all alternatives.
But the question is what they did that attracted all those initial users in the first place?
yahoo/ask
>good luck finding answers in retardville

How many of you guys have passed the CFA, would you say its worth it? Has it helped in your career?
Taking level 2 in June, on US west coast

Why did you have to post pornography?

Got the charter in 2012 and got a nice pay raise at my job. I haven't actually tried to switch jobs since I earned it (currently have a good job in private equity) but I imagine it would help quite a bit. If there is an active CFA Society in your city, you'll find a lot of networking opportunities. I also get more random recruiting messages on Linkedin since I've had the charter.
People who have earned the CFA have a lot of respect for other charterholders because they know what it takes to pass those exams. Good job getting through L1. I found L2 to be the hardest (failed my first time). There was just a lot more material than L1 and it was much more in depth. L3 wasn't a cakewalk, but it was a lot more focused on asset management and there was a lot more qualitative material than L2.
>>1824666
Thanks for the input, good idea to check out those CFA society meetings, I've been ignoring them
