"Price is what you pay, value is what you get"
What are your thoughts/tips/advice for value investing?
I bought credit Suisse like a year ago and I feel like value investing is genius (I'm a complete amateur though)
Value investing is genius compared to the irresponsible speculating conducted on this board.
I think you're unlikely to have enough assets that your personal hand involved in it is likely worth the time invested... but it's one of the least stupid things to do with your time and money.
Less stupid would be buying an index fund.

>Value investing
CS they cut jobs to save money year after year they won't be sustainable soon. Growth in their private banking is also slow, they don't take american or Russian clients below 50m. Value investment my ass

Depending on when she invested, she is already saved.
If you buy in right now though, you're not going to see any significant gains.
>$120K
Am I responding to a troll post?
If your sister could invest 120k in some dumb meme stock, and it means she's filthy rich, and i can't feel sympathy for rich people
i hope she drags your entire jewish family down with you

How can you not get laid living in a crackden? All seriousness though, what happened?
>>1850405
This post is meaningless without you actually explaining how you lost it all in a five year period?
Did you just sell your portion of the company and blow all your money on whores and drugs? If so, that's your fault and you won't get pity from me.
hello /biz/ just turned 18 and I want to save for retirement. What is the best way? I want to retire as soon as possible and I plan on joining the military for 4 years and getting out and joining a trade or going to University for engineering. any advice on how to go forward?
Buy cryptocurrency. Don't do a 401k that shit is for cucks who want to pay for all the retiring boomers mcmansions. This is a brand new financial system that always works 24/7, and no one can touch your money except you, IRS and court rulings and political policy be damned. You will retire in ~4 years if you put your savings into crypto
>>1850423
already holding on to some BTC, sounds like a meme tho
Set up your TSP account as soon as you are able and make sure to opt into the new blended retirement system so you get that 5% march. Which branch are you joining?
So, I have lots of certs, and a shit bachelors, and more than 10 years of IT experience. I make good money in Canada, but not boatloads. Would love to make 6 figures in the US.... just looking for the easiest way to do it without scaring off employers.
Has anyone got advice on have Canadian Hacker Fags can cash in on the American IT Security boom? How does the NAFTA TN Visa shit work for Canadians. The last thing I want is to quit my job in Canada to go to the US, and then have some at border security not allow me in for some reason. I cannot have this process fuck up and leave me without a job ......
>>1850388
Does anyone know if you can get pre-cleared for entry? IE: Go to the border and tell them that you want the visa to begin in 30 days, so that you hand in your resignation properly after you get the approval?
>>1850476
go to the consulate and apply for a permanent residency visa you faggot.
Wouldn't care even if you are Mexican, so long as you go through legal channels.
I want to make my first stock purchase.
However, I don't have a lot of money to begin with.
I've heard robinhood allows you to buy with low minimum investments, is this true?
Any tips/advice is appreciated.
>>1850366
Are you planning long or short term trading?
If you're flipping penny stocks on the daily use speedtrader.
>>1850368
Long term. I think penny stocks are too risky.
What's the easiest way to buy about 200$ worth of stocks (like credit Suisse or BOA)
>>1850366
You can start with as little as 50 bucks.
Just open an account and deposit money.
There are stocks that trade at 10 cents a share.
In your calculation what does it take to get on the boards of major corporations?
>>1850291
a 5% or higher stake and/or a previous position in the company and/or friendship with the board/CEO and their circle
>lmao work hard and you'll be on the board!!!
Nope, you'll be put in the mail room if you work hard.
>>1850296
What do you think about an Oxford Law degree and being a figure in the company town HQ?
If we want to learn about good investing we need to learn about deplorable investing. Name an incompetent investor.

>>1850253
There are way more traders who lost a lot of money and got fired.
But you know, these traders made a lot of money for their employers and therefor got more money to trade with. They get encouraged to continue and all are happy as long as they method works.
Calling them incompetent is stupid because every trader loses money at some point or fails big time. And still those traders made more money than any anon here would ever manage to do, probably not even with paper trades.

Okay, Howie. Everyone secretely wishes to have that legacy.
If an S-Corp isn't taxed and a C-Corp has double-taxation, why the hell would anyone form a C-Corp?
>>1850250
Because C corps can have more than 99 shareholders and allow for foreign shareholders when S doesn't.
On top of that C allows for retained earnings, and can do offshoring easier.
>>1850250
I have an LLC.
I was under the impression that C-corp and S-corp are almost identical.
I just remember my accounting teacher telling me that c-corp is better 90% of the time.
