since you can make profits when a commodity drops in value by shorting it, would it be possible to short a currency of a socialist shithole like venezuela and make profit with large margins doing it?

Does he offer sound advice? I have listened to him off and on over the years and he seems legit, however, a little too christiany sometimes.

What are your opinions on him?

I'm a big fan of Ramsey, OP

My one issue is that he pushes the "mutual funds can outperform the market" meme, without telling his listeners that those same funds will charge you a high expense ratio, thus robbing you of any extra amount they would truly beat the market by (if they even manage to do so)

Low expense broad Vanguard ETF is the way to go. Buy them after every crash. Sell as stocks explode and another crash is imminent (aka now)

>Low expense broad Vanguard ETF

Thanks anon, I'll check this out.

Also, I've never invested before, as I've been in abject poverty almost all my life. Recently, I got a job where I earn a lot more and my employer is offering a 401k where they contribute 25% up to a total of 15% of my income. Their portion vests in 6 years, but I'm not sure if I want to stick with them for that long.

I am 30 years old, no savings/retirement (yet). Should I do this, and if so, at what rate? I make $70k/annually
>>
>>1852683
I have a similar plan with my job, though we don't have our portion vested overtime, so that isn't an issue for me and I don't exactly know how to advise for it. That said, in my situation, I believe my employer matches for up to 6% of my income (meaning, they give me dollar for dollar for my contribution, which is 6% of my paycheck). I contributed 6% and that's it. I never advise contributing more than whatever your employer is willing to match since you can typically use the rest of that money more intelligently. Contributing less than what they match is also a waste, since you're forgoing free cash.

What should you do with the rest?

First off, Ramsey advises building a $1,000 emergency fund. I recommend you do that.

Second, do you have any debt? You'll want to focus on paying that off. Read about Ramsey's "debt snowball."

Third, if you have no savings, I recommend building a fund of 3-6 month worth of expenses (my monthly expenses are roughly $2k, so I saved up $8k). This is advised by Ramsey.

This is your emergency fund. This isn't savings and should not be used unless you lose your job or incur large medical expenses.

Once you've done that, I then recommend opening a Roth IRA with Vanguard and contributing the total amount the IRS allows you to contribute to it each year.

Otherwise, build up wealth in a savings accounts or money market fund until you can make some sort of real-estate play. I personally hope to get enough to take out a mortgage on a place that I'll rent out, while I continue to rent myself, until I can do it on a second property, etc etc, and start building up wealth through real estate .

I'm finishing my master in CS (artificial intelligence) and thinking about moving from EU to settle down in some Asian country. Main reason is that being white in a country full of beta-male Asians gives me instant respect and it's like a life on easy level. I'm muscular (two gear cycles so far), 180cm, 15% bf, 25yo and want to max out my prospects.

Later, I also want to find a traditional Asian waifu and have hapa children there.

Singapore seems like the best choice for me, since I'm a CS major. There are lots of startups in AI and being white male with MSc from EU university puts me instantly into leadership position. Very low taxes is a huge benefit as well.

Does it seem like a good plan? Thoughts?

What was your bachelor's degree like? I'm planning to study AI as well, and the uni that I'm looking at has a Cognitive Systems degree that is a cross of Philosophy/Linguistics/CompSci/Psychology with different streams that focus on one of the 4 concentrations. I want to do the CompSci concentration which is called Computational Intelligence and Design, but I think that the knowledge will be more theoretical than practical. I haven't thought about Master's yet, I'll cross that bridge when I get there. How are the job prospects? AI seems to be the future of everything so I doubt there will be any shortage of work for a long time. Also how are you planning on getting out of the EU? I'm in Canada and I'm trying to bounce from here as soon as I can.

Singapore is good imo, lots of different people there, not just Asians.

so your a fat roider with a small dick with a useless meme degree and you can't compete in the EU so you're looking to escape to cheaper market.

I think you have a poor grasp of the fundamentals to wealth generation, asset development and skill maximisation. Which tells me you've learned nothing about efficiency, planning or analysis. And since that was mostly what the brunt of your undergraduate and masters was presumably about, this means you're probably not worth shit as a quality hire.

CV? Past Experience? Contributed to any code base? Can I see some of your work? AI specializing in what? Why aren't you sitting down with your advisor or a professor you trust and asking for their opinion?

these are all red flags that you're a sub 130 iq retard who is going to crash and burn his life.

You max your prospects by going to America, and working for a serious company with an established track record for delivering on time, quality product, and is profitable.

Let's say I have a debt of almost 200k.

Assuming a 100k salary that after taxes is cut to 70k, using liberal spending estimates:

>15k in rent/internet/phone/electric/gas
>7k in food/eating out (liberal estimate)
>4k in leisure activities (buying vidya/going out etc.)
>another 4k on random stuff
>total 30k cost of living at most, very liberal estimate
>however much car payment will be
I'd have 30-40k left over to pay debnts

Does this seem like a correct estimate to you guys?

Is this sort of estimate/budget feasible? Loan repayment spread over either 10 years or 30 years (obviously with the 30 year payment, you can pay to finish in 10 anyway).

Depending, where do you live?
For example, real state and renting is 2 thirds cheaper in Detroit that in New York.
Rent is one of the biggest expenses that you must have in mind
>>
>>1852602
I already gave the figure for the expected rent/food.
>>
>>1852589

Seems reasonable, but if the debt is a low interest rate and you get a tax break on it you could just invest the money instead or use it for a down payment if owning makes sense in your location/you don't plan to move right away.

I don't have sound, but I file for all class actions that don't require proof of purchase.
I have made at least 2-4k doing this.

It has taken me about 2-3 years to make that much though.

It's great side money, and teaches you about what illegal marketing is, and what kinds of industries price fix (potatoes, milk, ice).
>>
>>1852293

Dude what.

Companies literally kill and poison people in mass in situations where the C-level execs know the lawsuit cost will be less than the profits they can make from the unethical behavior.

We absolutely need class action lawsuits.

The only lawsuit area that really needs reform is medicine. Doctors are sued constantly when they were not in the wrong at all.

Also in person to person lawsuits the person being sued should have an option where if they can prove the other person's lawsuit was completely frivolous (during the case) the pursuant should have to pay the defendant time+money lost.
