Is bankruptcy a useful and legitimate business tactic? Is declaring bankruptcy 4 times? Drumpfkins keep telling me that it is and I'm too much of a financial n00b to know.

Yes it is. In various situations. But if one business for example has a lot of debts (maybe you have to pay employers, you borrowed lots of money and spend it on yourself or you simply purchased a lot of goods), while you keep the money in another one, then it can be profitable to just let the business with the debts in it go bankrupt.

This can be completely legal, but in the case of fraud it rarely gets caught.

I worked for a company that supplied aircraft parts. But something was wrong so the aircraft company wanted to sue us. Then we said we'd just go bankrupt and he wouldn't get anything at all. So they just let it slide.
>>
>>1913568
This used to be considered fraud until trump did it in the 80's to avoid paying the contractors that built his properties and the banks that financed them.

It's legal, but it usually means nobody will do business with you. Numerous articles exist about Trump's inability to get loans. People don't forget that kind of behavior.

The founders gave us a neat trick in the form of the bankruptcy clause. You should read about it.

The website is doing the trading under their own agreement, you only pay taxes on the lump sum deposited in your bank account at the end. It weighs the same way with Robinhood.

So I'm salaried at $62k. I got an offer from a competitor across town for 20% higher than that. What's the proper way to turn this offer into a higher salary at the place I currently work? it's pretty comfy, work a little less than 40 hours a week and can use my phone whenever I want. id really prefer to stay here but I also can't turn down a salary increase like that. how should I take it to my boss?
14 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1913192
first off, you have to be willing to change companies. If you aren't then any "negotiation" could result in them terminating you.

>Meet with boss, have two weeks notice with you
>Tell him you have a offer that's 30% more than what you make currently
>Don't say who it is, but that you like working here and what not
>Ask if they can match
>If they can't match the 20% you were offered, then be prepared to walk
>Hand your boss your two weeks notice and shake his hand that it's been a pleasure to work here, etc
>expect a phone call within 24 hours or prepare for your new job.
>>
>>1913192

Well you need more information. It sounds like you have a good job, but what is the quality of the other job? If the other job sucks then the money upgrade won't be worth much.

It's a little delicate, but pretty simple.

Talk to your boss. Say "boss I love working here. I''m happy here, but I need to do the best things for my life. I got an offer from another company for a much larger salary. Can you guys increase my pay to meet their offer?".

If they get pissed, then fuck em. Employers getting pissed that an employee asks for more money is so retarded. Your not friends for fucks sake it's a business arrangement.

In most cases they will match the offer.

If it turns into drama, join up with the other company.
>>
>>1913192
It's not advisable to take a company's counter offer. I thnk you should just bite the bullet and leave unless you've been there for less than a year.

Don't miss this train.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/horizons-etfs-launch-first-marijuana-203000776.html

Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc. ("Horizons ETFs") is pleased to announce that it has filed its final prospectus to launch the Horizons Medical Marijuana Life Sciences ETF ("HMMJ"). Units of the exchange traded fund ("ETF") have been conditionally approved for listing by the Toronto Stock Exchange ("TSX") and are slated to begin trading on April 5, 2017, under the ticker symbol HMMJ.

HMMJ will be the first ETF that offers direct exposure to North American-listed stocks that are involved with medical marijuana bioengineering and production. HMMJ is an index (or passively managed) ETF, which seeks to replicate, to the extent possible, the performance of the North American Medical Marijuana Index ("the Index"), net of expenses. The Index is designed to provide exposure to the performance of a basket of North American publicly traded companies with significant business activities in the marijuana industry.

Saging politely. List of companies in the ETF:

Aphria Inc.
Aurora Cannabis Inc.
CannaRoyalty Corp.
CanniMed Therapeutics Inc.
Canopy Growth Corp.
Cronos Group Inc.
Emblem Corp.
Emerald Health Therapeutics
GW Pharmaceuticals
International Cannabis Corp.
Insys Therapeutics Inc.
Maple Leaf Green World Inc.
Organigram Holdings Inc.
Scotts Miracle-Gro
Supreme Pharmaceuticals Inc.
Zynerba Pharmaceuticals Inc.

You could buy them individually but if you're a small-time investor, the fees for individual orders would outweigh the management overhead of this ETF.
>>
Invested in Aurora and Supreme Pharma
Like pretty much all ETFs, it's better to spread out in to individual securities. May still pick up a couple shares as a hedge.

You bastards turned my 1000 dollars into 2600 dollars. Now what?
1. Tried to send it from coinbase to the Mist wallet but my Mist wallet appeared to sync up, then restarted syncing up and after a week was still at only 20%. Can I just keep it in coinbase? I'm just gonna sell it anyway.

2. What's my plan on this? I'm a programmer, I know blockchains are the new buzzword, I followed bitcoin the whole way. Should I sell after Friday? Should I target 100? 1000? I don't want to keep this forever. I'd rather take big gains and get out at the expense of maybe more gains.

Forgot to mention, only sent 2 ETH to the Mist wallet and haven't seen it appear yet because the wallet never synced

Still holding most in coinbase

Seems like you're in a good situation to just hold. If you don't need the money and don't have a plan just enjoy the ride.

Charity.

I can donate some of my profits to charity without losing a cent after taxes.

Is there an environmental non-profit that's not anti-human like Greenpeace?
For example, Greenpeace opposes Golden Rice,
a GMO form of rice that could save millions of lives that would otherwise be extinguished by vitamin A deficiency.
Greenpeace opposes that, because muh evil GMO.

Are there any rational, pro-nature AND pro-human orgs out there?

All global charities are a waste and hurt as much as they help. donate to your local food bank or your local school or local whatever if you actually want to do some good. Small exceptions are maybe stuff like the Red Cross, that do good everywhere.
>>
>>1912931
Wait, how do you donate to charity without a losing a cent after taxes?

I get that it's tax deductible, but doesn't that just mean you get to deduct it from your income? Thus you don't pay taxes on it, kind of, but you're still losing more than you would if you didn't give any at all, right?

Can you explain how you're able to do that to me?
