I'm a dumbass just getting interested in this and have no market/business experience so I wanted to ask some very general but probably dumb problems

How does any cryptocurrency gain traction? What actually gives it value?
I'm basically thinking in the same way any currency does...labor produces value, value which is paid for in currency
Then people use that currency to buy bitcoins/any other e-coin to trade for goods (but as far as I know, never any actual cash value)

So why do companies use bitcoin? How do they get their revenue if bitcoin isn't a standard? Sure it's widely used, maybe millions of people use it but what causes the value to go up?

Everyone wants to sell high and buy low, so the value of these coins would generally go down over time would it not? But these things spike up or sometimes have steady improvement

tl;dr how do cryptocurrencies have value, continue to gain value, and how do businesses make a profit selling goods on something unreliable/not used as a standard throughout the world

>How does any cryptocurrency gain traction?
Low transaction fees, global reach, inflation is predictable, no single entity controls your wealth.
>What actually gives it value?
What gives a dollar dollar bill yall value? A consensus between participates in the currency system that the unit is worth something. (and see above advantages of the currency itself.
>So why do companies use bitcoin?
See above
>How do they get their revenue if bitcoin isn't a standard?
Through payment providers like BitPay who exchange the Bitcoin into the currency of their choosing at the time of payment.
>Sure it's widely used, maybe millions of people use it but what causes the value to go up?
There's a limited amount of the currency and that's intentional, new cryptocurrency is printed at a predictable rate as a result of "mining" or verifying transactions on the network.
Because there is a limited amount and people want to use it to take advantages of the above advantages the price will go up when there is more demand then supply etc. (basic economics 101)
>Sure it's widely used, maybe millions of people use it but what causes the value to go up?

Can somebody redpill me on why increasing the blocksize is a bad thing? Why would "jews" or whatever big companies be against such a thing?
20 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
More transactions per block = less blocks to mine (read less sheckels) and less transaction delays mean less fees (read less sheckels)
>>
>>2462140
it isn't, it decongests the blockchain and fees will be lowered accordingly, because tx fees give your order priority

segwit also increases blocksize, except it has a hardcap of 4mb. it's not future proof like bitcoin unlimited

however the discussion is now centered on whether or not the side benefits of segwit (lightning mainly) outweigh the 4mb hardcap
>>
>>2462173
>More transactions per block = less blocks to mine (read less sheckels)
Isn't the total number of bitcoins capped though? So they would simply get less coins per block than they are right now?

And what exactly is "segwit"

just ignore it anon, devs discontinued it and moved to komodo

it's the riskiest pump and dump there is, because it's in danger of being delisted from polo at anytime due to the fact that it's literally orge

people are just pumping out what they can now

Now is your chance to literally do nothing and get Bitcoin.
Just go to 1broker.ml and copy a few traders, then watch the numbers go higher, while you shitpost in the comments of each trade.

How the fuck does that site works? It's only for btc or it has alt trading?

DESU I'm retarded
>>
>>2462111

Basically pro trading forex, gold and silver markets. All you have to do is copy them and your BTC makes the same trades as they do. BTC markets coming in a few months.

You don't have to do anything.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you copy 5% max if you are a new trader of your total btc, and test the waters. Traders WILL make losses, but make up for it with bigger profits and do 'opposing trades' on losses.

I wake up every morning and end up 0.4 btc richer. Not bad for doing literally nothing and theres no panic involved at all.

The more I think about this coin, the more confident I feel about it. For full disclosure I will state that I bought 100k DGB at 100 sats and sold 25k at around 2200 sats. I intend to hold onto the remaining 75k for at least one year.

We know the tech is great (and even adopted by other top coins) but we should also know that software is only part of the equation in this market.

What I like most about DGB, and Jared specifically, is that he seems to understand (more than almost everyone else in the scene) the importance of networking, relationships, and personality. This dude is the only white guy shilling crypto in Asia right now and you can tell he's working his balls off. As far as I can see, his life is dedicated to this coin and he has a spotless record when it comes to trust and transparency and things like that.

He is directly targeting 1) Asians, and 2) Gamers. As a holder, this makes me very, very, very happy. Possibly the best demographic targets I've ever seen in the current crypto market.

I sort of rambled there, but I am interested in discussing some of the more neglected points of DGB in this thread so I'll stick around for that (and the memes of course).

TL;DR Jared seems like /ourguy/ and I know his white ass is going to make us Asian rich if he keeps up the work ethic. I doubt he's even hit his prime yet. God bless.

Just went all in on LTC.

WHY?

1.the litecoin roadmap 2017
2. Litecoin has segwit
3. Litecoin is drama-free
4. Bitstamp is coming next monday
5. Litecoin is releasing the lightning network next week
6. Smart Contracts are coming to litecoin
7. Anonimity is coming to litecoin
8. decentrilized
9. There were no premined litecoins
10. Neither Charlee Lee (the creator) or the developers hold the majority of coins (eth is being held 75% by creator and devs)
11. Litecoin has the same security that Bitcoin 12. There will be 84 million litecoins and no more. Ethereum will have an infinite supply 13. There is no risk of forking the network (like with ethereum or bitcoin)
14. low fees to send money around
15. The community is awesome 1
16.China loves litecoin

screencap this, and I will show pics of my lambos by christmas :)

Because of the bitcoin fork? As we have seen already, BTC tends to bring the entire market down. You would be better off just cashing out, or getting tether dollars.
>>
>>2461843
Seems pretty stable (for crypto) ATM

Now is probably one of the better times to get in on it, it just hit a low in USD it hasn't had in a while and seems poised to jump up based on developments coming up

Almost every fucking Coin is tied to Bitcoin, thats why everyone lost money today.
So basically if you invest in crypto currency you just gotta hope that Bitcoin will go through to roof and you will make profit. Just the amount of your profit depends on your choice of the altcoint currencies. Also vice versa with loss. Am I right with this assumption?

I was looking at which coins didn't fall horribly and seeing if there's something more to them after this, it's interesting to see which ones didn't crash.
>>
why are you still looking at value in USD implying you will one day cashout? These coins will replace fiat hombre, switch your blockfolio to BTC mode only and watch how steady this market is today.
>>
>>2461924
This senpai. If you cash out to fiat you better need that money now and you better replace it when you can afford to. We're replacing (((their))) currency never forget it.
