"Pump and dump" cryptocurrency schemes are illegal, and enforced by the SEC. If prosecuted, this can lead to jail time and fines.
>Can the SEC regulate crypto?
Yes. A security is defined using the Howey Test. The Supreme Court stated in Marine Bank v. Weaver, 455 U.S. 551, (1982), the definition is “quite broad” and meant to include “the countless and variable schemes devised by those who seek the use of the money of others on the promise of profits.”
For more information on SEC's enforcement against crypto, see:
https://www.sec.gov/investor/alerts/ia_virtualcurrencies.pdf
>But I don't live in the US.
The SEC enforces Security Fraud cases overseas. If there is a US victim, the scheme falls under SEC jurisdiction. Nearly every country cooperates with SEC investigations. For more information, see:
https://www.sec.gov/about/offices/oia/oia_crossborder.shtml
>I don't want to get arrested, what I can I do?
The SEC offers a whistleblower program. If you bring evidence that leads to a securities fraud conviction, you will avoid prosecution and you are eligible for a reward. Eligible whistleblowers are entitled to an award of between 10% and 30% of the monetary sanctions collected by the SEC and related law enforcement authorities. For more information, see:
https://www.sec.gov/about/offices/owb/owb-faq.shtml
>How do I whistleblow?
In order to qualify for an award under the whistleblower program, you must submit your information either through the online Tips, Complaints and Referrals questionnaire or by completing the hardcopy Form-TCR and mailing or faxing it to the SEC Office of the Whistleblower, 100 F Street NE, Mail Stop 5631, Washington, DC 20549, Fax (703) 813-9322.

So, either these walls are just bleeding us dry and they're gonna put the hammer down soon, or they're accumulating and trying to stop this huge volume from taking it sky high.

It has some big players in it, some were scrambling to buy OTC week ago. Heat wallet was too shady. Possible someone would only have a chance to really accumulate now.
I'm still an optimist but is this like the other bitcoin downswings that dragged on for a very long time?
Is there some news I've missed? I hear Aug 1st is a date to look out for.
Once bitcoin gets segwit on or before august 1st, it will moon. Shit coins, especially ethereum based ones, are probably in for a long hard bear market though.
August 1st kills Bitcoin, ETH will take over
Its over

What do you think about a Bitcoin/Litecoin fork using DaggerHashimoto as its PoW?
Simple, proven coin
Highly optimized GPU miners available
Democratic mining
DogeDagger?
DogeHashimoto?
>>2681810
Could you please link material to read about these things?
>>2681932
DaggerHashimoto is Ethereum's proof-of-work mining algorithm, also known as Ethash
https://github.com/ethereum/ethash
It's designed to be ASIC resistant, meaning it can't be easily centralized like Bitcoin is. Anyone with a GPU gets a fair chance at mining.
Now there already are many ASIC-resistant PoW algorithms like CryptoNight, but most of them don't have a significant GPU advantage. CryptoNight is still profitable on CPUs which is why Monero is often mined by botnets. Botnet mining is unfair to legit users.
Most other coins that are ASIC resistant try to innovate with many additional features, like Decred and its governance functions.
I want a very simple coin like Bitcoin or Litecoin, but with a PoW algorithm that is fair for normal users and their GPUs.
Not sure if anyone else would want that, though.
I'm capable of implementing it, no problem, just transplant DaggerHashimoto from ethereum-cpp to Litecoin.

Lets do something smart on biz at least and start relevant information thread.
RULES:
> No one is interested in your personal opinion.
> Information should be as current and / or relevant as possible.
> Your own amounts that have been set or want to be set do not interest in here. They produce "emotional noise" which distracts from the essential. Like your own faggot opinion or conclusion from something.
We try limit ourselves only to share the most valuable. The pure information. The rest is uninteresting for biz / ness. Useful information was once the strength of 4chan. We could do it better than anyone else, so back to reason and make you useful you fucking faggot. You want the money to.
The crypto-segment remained in a correction all week long following Monday’s scary mini-crash, which was arguably led by Ethereum. The long-term picture looks more and more neutral for the major coins, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Monday’s lows were the final lows for the correction. The majority of the major and smaller coins are falling once again this weekend, but volatility is lower and correlations are not that strong anymore between the currencies, and Bitcoin is holding notably above the $2450 level, acting much stronger than during the past two weeks.
This is great, keep on keeping on anon
Bitcoin is still likely to split
However, the impact of the anticipated events of August 1, 2017, extends beyond just the expected improved efficiency of transactions within the Bitcoin network.
With significant opposition still in existence, a possible breakup is expected. This leaves room for a lot of uncertainty, leading to widespread speculation and predictions on what will become of Bitcoin and the crypto ecosystem in general.
Michael Vogel, CEO of Netcoins, affirms that SegWit2x and SegWit Support has officially surpassed Emergent Consensus, he identifies this development as a significant milestone.
