I come to you, in this, my hour of need.
I have asked my Boss for a sit down/chat tomorrow, where i will be asking for a raise.
I have never asked for a raise before, and although i have googled a little bit, im still not sure if i will be able to actually pull it off.
Ive worked for this company 4.5 years. Nationwide company, listed on the Stock exchange, biggest company in the country, by far.
Started as a shitty old warehouse/store person on $38k Salary. After about 6 months, Boss offered me an office job, it came with a $3k salary increase.
Worked that job poorly for 3 years, got 1 raise during that time of around $1200
Boss offered me a job at our sister company, different products, different customers, Customer Service/Order entry.
Took him up on the offer, new job came with a $3000 pay rise.
Been working this job for 11 months. Because they both used the same order entry program, i skipped the 2-3 months of training, and just had to learn product.
Company tracks total Orders Entered - since i started keeping an eye on this in Jan/Feb, i have been top 2-3 Order Entry in the company Nationwide.
Boss got informed of this by his Manager a couple months ago, so been making sure he tracks the Monthly figures as well.
I have 1 of my customers trying to poach me, and get me a job with our competitors (im having coffee with the competitors on Thursday)
I have another customer (largest customer for my Branch, for a particular market atleast, probably 2nd largest for the Branch overall) who will solely deal with me, and recently told me that because of me and 1 other person, they stick with my Company, otherwise they'd go elsewhere.
The above customer has also said that i can tell my Boss to call him if he needs any persuading.
So /biz/, what experience, ideas, information can you give me?

Just ask for a raise, don't try to ultimatum him or point out you have other options. If he thinks you're trying to get one over him he'll fuck you in the ass.
If he doesn't give you a raise then explore your options afterward but don't do anything big unless you have a guaranteed safety net instead of just a theoretical one.

Honestly from the way you've moved up the chain it sounds like your boss has looked after you a bit, shifting you into better positions rather than letting you rot.
If you ask straight out for a raise on the back of your high performance it sounds like he's the kind of guy that'll give you one.
