Hello. I am looking for advice how to invest a rather big lump sum of money. I have already started purchasing.
My mother has never had an investment account, she knows nothing about investing. Everything she has ever earned she saved in a bank account. She is nearing retirement age now and has about 120k that she asked me to invest on her behalf. Obviously 120k is not anywhere close to the million+ nest egg one is supposed to have for retirement, but she did her best.
I have been thinking of dollar cost averaging into a sort of lazy portfolio over the course of the next few months.
A while ago I purchased 5k worth of ETH when it was around 150. I also hand picked and purchased 10k worth of high dividend large cap US stocks (IBM, GE, XOM, MO). I also purchased 5k worth of an international index fund (SCHF).
She has about 100k left to invest. How should I go about doing that? I was thinking to put at least 50k into a bond fund to lower portfolio volatility because she is so close to retirement age, and split the remaining 50k evenly between a portfolio of international and US funds.
Any thoughts on how to allocate the remaining 100k?

All in long on bitcoin, thank my later
what would you do if you were given a lump sum of a million dollars? invest in stocks/bonds? pay off loans and debts? what would you buy?
>pic related. it's my Grail car. I'd buy it before putting the rest in bank accounts and investing a little in some bonds.
I'd buy that truck then wreck it.

Move out of NYC because 1 million is basically what a house costs here.
So let's say 300k for a nice house for me.
200k for a rental property
200k in a large cap US index fund
100k into international index fund
150k into bonds
50k intro crypto split 50/50 between bitcoin and eth
Invest all of it. I already have tons of shit I barely use.

What are your thoughts on this?

Why? How much energy is used to handle the world's transactions today? To haul money to banks and businesses in huge-ass armored trucks? To run ATMs and millions of bank branches and data servers?
this is why burstcoin is gonna take over the planet

What should someone who has no experience in finance take before the exam prep then the exam itself to ensure passing?
Should i just jump right in and do the exam prep?
This board is for cryptocurrency. Get out.
>>2916960
I mean presumably you pick up a practice test and take it, then grab a Kaplan book or whatever and start reading it.
If your knowledge is totally inadequate then you won't understand the prep. Then you'll know you need to do more reading.

I'm studying for the level 1 CFA exam this december because of what I've learned on biz. Don't let these faggots >>2917326 change your mind, they don't realize that by learning more about finance you'll do better with crypto while they end up on the sidelines
Fuck yeah jump right in dude, download some study materials and get on that shit. Best of luck

I hope your mining and not buying
An acquaintance of mine has told me something about a stock involving a "source". I don't know if he's fibbing or not, but in the past, he's tended to be right about his predictions.
If I follow his advice and buy into the stock, would it be considered insider trading? I don't want to do anything illegal.
Yes but as far as regulations are going to go if you don't work in a professional environment dealing with stocks then you're good because who the he'll would know or check up on your activities
>>2916732
Because he posted about it on a taiwanese basket weaving forum
Depends on how possible it is to prove he
1. has the knowledge
2. passed it on to you
if he's a direct family member then it gets hairy but if you just know him from somewhere then no one can prove anything.
That's how rich people do stuff, they play golf and hang out at the club and who knows what hot tips they are swapping that turn out to become suspiciously wise investments
A while ago I bought 0.4 btc for around $2500 per btc and today I sold it for $2770 per btc, because I got scared. Did I do the right thing
