I downloaded Snapchat to check out how they're advertising.

They aren't making money because ads only appear after stories or news articles, and not everyone uses those, and the ads don't appear that often.

It's like they aren't even trying to exploit their userbase. They have all the ads tucked away in the third and fourth screens, away from the actual main functionality that everyone of their users uses.

I live in Los Angeles with my gf and combined we make about $140k. We could currently put down about 100k as a down payment and have emergency money left over.

Her parents and my parents have also said they would help with a down payment, so I'm guessing we could probably get around 200k total for a down payment. We'd pay it back eventually but it wouldn't be super pressing.

After taxes our take home pay is conservatively around $7k/month. (I work freelance so it varies)

Looking at places around the 600k range I'm guessing I can rent a room for $1200-1400/mo to help pay the mortgage, or possibly air bnb it for more money.

I'm guessing our mortgage would be around 400-450k.

For those of you that are home/condo owners does this sound like a realistic scenario?

Anyone have experience with hosting air bnb? How money can be made with a spare room?

yeah that's a concern, as well as air bnb guests perving on my gf. I'm home more often cause I mainly work from home but I'm not there all the time. It would probably be better to have a roommate I just don't like sharing all the fridge space etc.

Part of the reason I'm considering it is that rent is really high and keeps going up. For the cost of renting a decently nice apartment I think I could buy a condo. Downsides are debt, less mobility, and having pretty much my life savings tied up in a down payment, but at least I'll be building equity instead of pissing away money to my sand nigger landlord. Did I mention how much I hate my sand nigger landlord?

Made some minor gains that I converted to ETH when it was at @189. Decided to gamble on Etheroll. Can someone explain the layout? It says 30,xxx ETH won, does that mean won by the house? What credit card should I get? I have a 796 credit score, so I imagine I can get most everything I apply for, but I'm not sure what to get. AMEX sent me an offer for their platinum travel card, but $550 is not worth it for me as I don't travel enough to utilize the features.
Otherwise credit card general?

I follow #1 and 2. Borrowing in a way that lets interest accrue is almost always a bad move. Especially on non-productive assets. I couldn't give less of a shit about my credit score.

Anyway. I have a Chase card affiliated with amazon. Have it set to auto-pay. I get 5% back on amazon purchases. 2% back on food/gas. 1% on everything else. The catch is, i can only spend them at amazon, which is cool with me. It just makes Christmas free.

I had to pay for a secured credit card (200 deposit and $30 annual) since I had no credit at all and it raised my credit to like 730 in a year. Then I got a nice low interest auto loan. I'm now waiting for my chase freedom unlimited cashback card. I was gonna go for the citi double cash back but this one offers $150 for spending 500 in three months.
