How likely is it that 2FA is going to protect your coins from an exchange getting hacked? I feel it's more likely that I'll lose, break, or have my phone stolen.

How do you guys manage to make money daytrading, every coin I buy end up not moving a lot and I'm just winning like 1 euro every now and then. Btw I'm only practising for now so I only have 30 dollars on my bittrex account.

by not daytrading, usually
20% of my stack is for "daytrading" by which I mean I do leveraged trades on bitmex which I never like sleeping on, I open and close trades on the same day
without leveraging or a huge investment that could shake order books, I don't think you're going to be able to consistently get good returns daytrading in crypto

When BCC got its difficulty lowered to a level that made mining it more profitable than mining BCT?Did you miss that _A_LOT_ of hash rate migrated to BCC and the value increased dramatically?

to be honest I thought there would be a happening but after watching the bcc price for a while I don't think anything will happen except the price will go down even more.
The problems are:
1 - no one buys BCC. Even if everyone switches and it becomes the coin with the most hashrate, when no one needs it for anything then no one will buy it except speculators. People will still buy much more BTC and then it will be more profitable to mine BTC and buy BCC if you want BCC.
2 - It's overpriced, you can't have 7% of BTC's marketcap in 3 weeks when there is no economic infrastructure
3 - Again, its Overpriced, hashrate on Saturday will be at ~5,6% of BTC's Hashrate so price should be at 0.056 if there is enough demand.

I just want off this wild ride.
"Researching" the new shitcoin of the day makes me want to take a revolver to my head. 500% gains are nice in the rare event they even happen and you went big in them. But at the end of the day, looking through Blockfolio sleeplessly, I realize once again I don't give a fuck about any of these shitcoins and have never even thought that Bitcoin has any legitimate future with widespread use. It's just penny stocks with ridiculous upside potential.
As a short-term intellectual exercise I think it's fine. I just don't want to spend more than 10 minutes a day at most thinking about this stupid shit.
How does this strategy sound, for not leaving the game while having a life - hodl long in BTC and ETH, put 5% of the rest of my shekels into whatever shitcoin's managed to get some traction around the web.

My mum bought a bitcoin for 4k AUD a few months ago, and recently after 4 months of negotiation with an "investor" she decided to let him use her bitcoin to invest with promises that she would end up with more money. Suprise suprise, the guy was a con artist and isn't responding to any attempts at contact. He has also done this to at least one more person who my mum is also in contact with. Is there any establishment or group that we can contact to try and get it back or at the very least get this guy punished? Apologies if this isn't /biz/ related enough, I don't frequent this board.

MFW I bought BTC for the last 3 years with my spare cash every end of the month (about 100€ each month) and the intention to sell once it hits 4200€. Then finding out my harddrive crashed and the thumb drive with wallet.dat doesn't work either. I guess money isn't everything.

Does nobody here know about memory decay? Entropy causes all data storage to fail eventually. I have multible copies of my encrypted wallet on all my storage devices and on paper.

People who own Bitcoin now are simply not willing to "sell" their Bitcoin for fiat anymore, there is a certain trust that has developed, the altcoinmarket has proven that you dont need fiat to trade. Even blockfolios posted here are more and more showing the value in BTC only.
(((Bancor)))jority in Bitcoin wants to use it, not sell it. The general mentality is to "hold" and every attempt at selling to buy back lower is being severely punished. On the other hand you have big institutions that want to get in on it but cant. Attempts on taking value away from Bitcoin have failed (e.g. Ripple, Bancor).
So there really is only one way to gain a stake, its to find some fool willing to give you their Bitcoin. People who need fiat urgently, People blinded by high amounts of fiat, People who believe in TA because it has worked before on Bitcoin. This is the time where Crypto establishes itself in the world and you can watch it happen live.
Be happy with the stake you have in crypto and wait for the developments during the next year to use your crypto, (((they))) will want your coins and are going to adapt to accept it widely.

depends, if you got in relativly late sell in increments to cover some expenses, just in case. Your long term strategy should be to hold as many as you can and wait for more uses to pop up, effecticly you want to replace fiat with your stake.
