If Bitcoin (or any cryptocurrency) just keeps increasing in value... doesn't that make people reluctant to actually use it as a currency? Isn't that a fundamental flaw, if everyone keeps holding, holding, holding hoping to eventually reach $1000,000/BTC or something?

I am done with this shit I have no more stamina for that!! It behaves like a waterfall to me, it doesn't benefit from a general uptrend and it is falling free when there is a general downtrend. This piece of shit deserves to burn back down to 3$ per coin!

Unlikely.
ETH is an immature ecosystem which has a lot of changes in store. These changes carry risks. For its current value it has very little real-world application. Its network is more ambitious than bitcoin's though and more capable. But how useful and "revolutionary" it'll actually be has yet to be seen.
BTC has first-mover advantage and serves as a better store-of-value given its initial coin distribution, coin issuance model, and lack of central "foundation". It is used to exchange value in the real world but its blockchain lags in technical sophistication and adaptation.
For a long-term hold I would definitely pick up both.
For greater diversification you might consider BCC/ETC but you'll be fine with just BTC/ETH.
I'd hold 3-4 ETH for each BTC and an equal amount of BCC/ETC to BTC/ETH if you go that route for grater diversification.
More important than these choices though is:
IGNORE ALL SHITCOINS

Anyone got their eye on DNT?
It has gone up significantly and it seems to be rising steady despite being on a lack of exchanges. Next week is Bianance and Bittrex is unannounced but should come soon. I can see this going up another 5 cents in a day, momentum is picking up.
