I currently work for a cannabis company that does over 100mm in revenue a year and am very close to the owners. They aren't very technical and are hesitant to invest in something involving crypto, although they think this is a good idea. That said, they're a very valuable resource for connections and investment in the future.
Consumers, dispensaries, manufacturers, and distributers are prohibited from paying for cannabis products with credit cards. Inconvenient.
What if a consumer can swipe their credit card, purchase a coin, and immediately exchange the coin for cannabis goods. After the exchange of goods for coins, the dispensary automatically exchanges the coin for fiat. The processor charges a fee to the consumer and the dispensary.
Cannabis is a billion dollar industry in retail sales alone in Colorado. Come 2018, California will completely blow this number out of the water.
How can this work? I know little about crypto, but I think it's the key.
Anyone interested in developing this with me?

The manipulation sickens me.
The highly illegal pump and dump groups are cancerous.
The insider trading is unacceptable.

This stuff needs to be reigned in, big time. I hope you all agree with mee and help me come up with a solution to send our senators to let them know that we need these markets throttled.
Perhaps some sanctions against China will show those chink whales we expect a friendly competitive market not slanted in their favor.

How would you do this? Could someone, or a group of investors, actually buy an island, and create their own "country" without it being a country, just a business. And to answer your question, no. There was a bunch of Libertarians who tried that in the 70's, I think it was called "Minerva". The atoll fell beneath the waves and the Togo "navy" (just a bunch of convicts on a dingy with the King) reclaimed it as Togo Territory.

There have been attempts by companies like Cadbury and I assume even Disney to build towns where everyone works for the company, but I assume that's not what you're talking about.
Your way better off simply buying off a poor small country and infiltrating their government as a éminence grise, there by giving you access to regular diplomatic channels, legitimacy in the eyes of international law, and most important - LUXURY.
Think of Cecil Rhodes, Rupert Murdoch, the early Medici's... a silver tongue and silver coins is enough.
