I watched anime for the first time not too long ago. It was called Tokyo Ghoul or some shit. It started out kind of interesting but by the second episode it had turned so autistic and retarded I couldn't really even enjoy it. I watched the first two seasons because I'm a total masochist. As the show went on, it just got worse as the 'ghouls' stopped being flesh eating monsters and started being more like pussified vampires. And the government agents trained to hunt them started looking more like power rangers. And then new aspects of the world would just start popping up out of nowhere. I guess the writers thought they were being surprising but there was no foreshadowing whatsoever and it all just seemed like it was being pulled out of someone's ass. The gore wasn't even that good. I don't have a lot of experience with anime but if most of it is like this, then I agree with OP that it's total shit.
