That can't be true! There has to be people from different countries that want to talk to me
If you want a job in the end, Mandarin.
If you just want to learn another language as quickly as possible, Spanish or French.

>If you want a job in the end, Mandarin.
Fuck you.
You wouldn't do this to an anon, would you?
Sending someone straight to turbojewland like that, that is not funny.

The Chinese do business overseas and interpreters are always needed.

Do you speak Mandarin? I've made efforts to learn on my own but I haven't had a lot of success because of how memorization heavy it is.
I'm thinking of returning to school to turn my general AA into a BA of teaching and take courses in Mandarin so I can go to China.
>>1151946
No, but I just started learning Cantonese because why not.
>>1151956
Cantonese? Are you planning on doing business with SG/HK/TW?
>>1151931
If you're not going to china yourself you'll just end up making hopeless phone calls there, asking why the stuff you've ordered is late, why it's not packaged correctly, why is it all off-spec shit and where the additional costs come from.
Chinese might be useful in business but it's the one language that will make you lose faith in everything that you see as fair in that field.

I might visit HK one day but mostly I'm just autismal.

Fun.
You probably know this, but this is one of my favorite factoids about China and the Chinese language:
Mandarin is a mostly synthetic dialect of Chinese that was developed by Mao Zedong and is the official language of the Communist Party and is mandatory teaching in all Chinese schools and schools in Chinese properties like Taiwan and Hong Kong.
However, since it's the communist language, regions that do not like the communists passive aggressively protest by using their own dialects like cantonese.

If you want a language that looks or sounds really foreign: Basque (ergative/absolutive), Cantonese or Mandarin (tonal system, isolating, ideograms and logograms), Japanese (pitch accent, agglutinative, weird pronunciation system), Or other less known yet peculiar languages like Turkish, Hungarian, Vietnamese...
If you don't care about it being dead, Ancient Greek is a decent language, as long as you learn the proper way to read the accents.
If you hate learning new word stems and etymologies, there's French and the Germanic languages.
If all else fails, then I guess Spanish or Portuguese would be best for you.
Greek is a pretty good language why don't you try learning it?

Whatever you do, don't learn chinese, i'm not even kidding. They are fucking scum.
I'd say learn german since its similar to other languages and germany is one of the strongest economies, and one that doesn't suck like china. Learning German might give you some nice opportunities.
If you just want to learn one for fun, learn french or japanese as these are nice sounding languages.
>>1155588
Maybe I could learn a few tricks from them.

I want to learn finnish, is it hard?
