Without lying, and without shame, write the year you first came to 4chan, along with your first 3 boards.
Don't be ashamed if it's only 2017. We're all welcome here.
2005, /b/, /x/ (was backup /b/ when /b/ went down anyway), /fit/
well at least you posted nonon i guess
>HAHAHAHA TINYTRIP'S PARENTS ARE DEAD LOL DEAD PARENTS DEAD PARENTS
I don't think oldfag elitism even exists anymore.
4chan isn't the "wild west" it used to be, where we felt the Internet was too fast moving and advanced for even the law to understand. People would do stupid shit and the old cunts running games we trolled like Habbo Hotel, news anchors, and local PDs / the FBI couldn't understand or cope with it. Then they caught up. Everyone knows what a troll is. The FBI/NSA have taps on everything. There are no games now. moot capitulated to LEO requests and sold out. This site is monitored.
Eight chins (I don't know if I can say it without being autobanned anymore) had a wild west feel to it for a while but the luster wore off as it was egregiously mismanaged and became a hotbed for pedophiles which killed the ebb and flow of the site. Traffic became isolated in pockets, different boards were managed by rivals, and the site withered away pitifully with only the pro-GG /v/ and Neo-Nazi /pol/ to attract new users ... new users most people don't like.
So I'm an 'oldfag', 24 years old and nearing 10 years senior, and all I want to do is die.
(and when I saw neo-nazi /pol/, I mean ENFORCED nazism. If you disagree they ban you immediately for being a cuck. and that's using a 4chan namesake board while crying about censorship)
I witnessed final tranformation to physical autism of this boards in my short time here.
>I mean ENFORCED nazism
oh yeah 8ch was probably the worst attempt at relocating i've ever see and their /pol/ board was full of schizophrenics.
nobody even stopped to think that an actual internet reich might be a shit idea.
/g/, /3/, maybe possibly /diy/. Not entirely sure anymore. Not even sure about the year, it feels like last year still.
How come you remember 8ch but not the other earlier pedo boards? That shit was quite recent.
I was a global mod for a while. 8/pol/'s board owner believes in a safe space for the far right wing. Trying to persuade him to allow anything else was impossible. He firmly believed any dissenting opinions were that of "shills". I believe in paid content posting and I believe it's a problem, but outright censorship of anyone left of Hitler is fucking insane.
Are you talking about shit like not four chan and 13? I remember those.
The issue is that those were segregated and 8 was not. /b/ had constant little girl threads. In Eastern Europe, there are studios that pump out pictures of children doing lewd poses, and those were ALWAYS on the first page of /b/. They never stopped. They kept talking about who their favorite model was and what they'd do to the child. It drove away all non-pedo and non-weirdo traffic. I put up with it because I liked the site's mission statement but my goodwill only went so far, in the end.
Not to mention, in regards to the pedo content, 8 had a problem for over a year where a bot or very dedicated spammer was cropping out genital shots from child porn and adding URLs to the image to entice traffic. The adminship had no way of dealing with it for a very long time, and as a result of the problem, every board (especially dead boards) had actual cp in their catalogs and on top of their thread lists. The problem was so bad Google delisted the entire site as a consequence. Eventually they developed an OCR bot to handle the problem, but it killed the site before the vaccine was made.
>In Eastern Europe, there are studios that pump out pictures of children doing lewd poses
You know, by contacting the studios you can get custom photoshoots done. The studio photos you see are a kind of cover business.
Eh. Eastern Europe is like that, they don't care about cp as long as it's not gay.
This bot posts on literally every vichan board, ubuu had a real problem too. I'm still deleting such posts on the boards I'm staff at.
The suggestive usenet groups are full of that shit too.
Also there were those posters who posted their cp with sage to the last threads on the catalog. Easy to share, decently hidden and nuked simply b creating a new thread on the board.
That'll happen when 4chan dies.
And only then. Because right now all the posters are here, they're bored but not bored enough to be forced to leave.
It was the end of 2010, and i came to /b/. It was nice finally having someplace to discuss things with, and see contradicting opinions
Before i got there, i didn't even know there were still a relevant amount of people that identified as communists (not that i endorse commies, i just didn't know)
Not long after i showed up, some fag started spaming the "New trollface", which i thought was fucking annoying. and so, i experienced my first forced meme.
Not long after that, moot or some mod did the whole PUDDI PUDDI PUDDI PUDDI bullshit, where every word in a post was converted to "PUDDI" and the video played on repeat in every thread
When it was finally over, i saw some people mentioning that /x/ had gone through the same bullshit as /b/ had, so i went to check it out.
Man oh man, i loved it. /x/ is a mediocre board, but i loved all the creepypastas and spooky videos and stuff, so i started hanging out there.
But then i realized i hadn't even checked what sort of boards there were, so i did, and i decided to check out /vp/. I think one of the first threads i saw, was about the character N, and i would later see a screencap of that reposted, but i don't have it saved anymore
A different thread i saw that would be screened is this one.
Ever since that, i've been getting on and off of the games, but i've always followed the franchise
that's unfair i've never even been to the donald or anything political on reddit
I don't think it's running anywhere. I prioritized certain features to get it out to 8 as soon as possible and neglected the back end so it's quite difficult to set up and it's unfinished.
After the falling out I left the Philippines to return home. I hadn't been in the US for over a year by that point. When I returned, because I run a website called the Kiwi Farms (drama forum in the vein of ED), a lunatic started aggressively publishing material calling me a pedophile. I attempted to find regular programming work during this time and got into stage 3 of interviews with several companies needing PHP developers only for them to drop out during the 'background check'. I'm not a criminal, so I assume they lost interest after seeing the hit pieces put out on me.
The guy moved his attacks onto my immediate family, even getting my mom fired from her work in realestate by threatening to write articles on all her coworkers calling them pedophiles, so I left. Went up north. It sucks not having too much money but what sucks more is a lack of direction in general. I just wish I had some shit to do that had immediate returns.
I know what Vichan is and I have no idea who you are. I did know there was such a project as InfinityNext though.
Are you going to continue working on it?
Also, tinyIB is much easier to set up than vichan, which is also a bloated clusterfuck.
I've never been arrested. I've been detained by the FBI (the same guy sent bomb threats in my name to local schools using my lolcow.email public email server), but there were never any charges. I just don't break any laws.
I'm probably not going to continue working on it for the foreseeable future, no. I had a vision to make 8's community the international one, with a variety of languages. The forum software has a mostly-functional RTL layout which works with Arabic translations. A vishun, man. A vishun.
I didn't really have a third board for quite a while. Eventually /tv/ replaced /b/. /v/ bores the shit out of me now, and /tv/ is old. I still spend time on /k/ /sp/ and /x/ from time to time, but really /bant/ is the only board that keeps me entertained. For now.
You made me curious. I still have the development site installed. RIP.
I do not break any laws. The most risque thing I've done is buy birth control on Tor's Abraxas market. A girl in the Philippines got pregnant and she begged me for help so I tried to ship her some day after pills that are illegal in the Philippines (very catholic country). But, that's the Philippines, not the US.
/flash/, /b/, /h/
Feels good to be cancer
I will, eventually, but not for you.
If you want to set something up, do it well or not at all.
It's just a vps, a domain and copypasting some commands into a terminal.
Such background checks should either be made illegal or very very difficult to do.
I'm not going to comment on whether I think you're a pedo or not, but so long as you stay on the good side of the law that shouldn't affect your ability to work.
Do you know who the dude is?
You mean translations like tanobb?
Cannot honestly even remember, maybe 2004 or 05 and was /x/tard for a long time before I even visited other boards.
>Do you know who the dude is?
Yes. My aunt is currently in the process of suing him for damages to her company.
>You mean translations like tanobb?
I don't know what tanobb is but if you're referring to internationalizations, yes. I was preparing to translate it into the most popular languages so that international IB users would congregate on 8. 4chan is entirely English speaking so it would be an opportunity to open the doors to non-English speakers, especially with inbuilt support for Tor. A lot of good could be done with an Arabic imageboard and a Tor hidden service.
Oh, my mistake, I was thinking of something else.
Tanobb.com was (it now seems, shame, I liked it) a bbs with imageboard mechanics but a different stylesheet that could automatically translate multiple languages in user's posts to other languages. It was pretty great for speaking with Arab and Japanese people specifically.
Though now I understand you meant to translate the software.
>A lot of good could be done with an Arabic imageboard and a Tor hidden service
I can see the use in this.
Oh man it's Rustle, long time since I've seen any.
>he's only been using /bant/ since Hiro made it public
I visited /b/ for the first time. As we all know it was SHIT. Luckily I did some resarch and settled on /pol/ and then I learned about /bant/. /Bant/ and /pol/ are very good boards. I browse /int/ sometimes.
but really it was probably just /b/ shit, /v/ and /tg/ stuff. almost definitely found out about 4chan from newgrounds.
Not an oldfag in our terminology, but I fucking hate newfags who came from when the Trump election started.
I am so glad 8pol exists, all this board is for me is a place to relax and troll at.
>2015 fa/tg/uy forgiving a 2016 BR alt-lite memer
I think people miss things just because they were younger.
If you guys do this, you won't like it. I came here in 2005 and I don't miss it, I just can't believe that time is considered old now.
Pretty sure it was around 2007.
My first two boards were /v/ and /b/, and eventually I think I tried out /mu/ for a while before being turned off by all the hipsters.
Also, a quick reminder for all the supposed 'oldfags' in this thread: any time spent on 4chan before you turned 18 doesn't count. There's a whole generation of posters who found 4chan around the same time that I did, but they were fucking 10 year olds at the time and ruined the place with their general lack of ability to understand irony and irreverent humour. This is how we ended up being overrun with alt-right cringelords. They didn't understand that 4chan wasn't actually about being a racist gay basher, it was about pretending to be one to piss everyone off. If you're a literal child using 4chan, you're not going to be able to tell the difference. Just like any literal children on 4chan today wouldn't be able to properly understand the ironic shitposting.
they have all been exactly the same for five years running
I only came here for Boxxy.
Best year of my life.
After that it went all down the drain lmao.
I've heard about 4chan multiple times, but never found it appealing until (year above). The first board for me was /b/ if course, but I hated it later that year cause of the trapfags and the furfags. Then I went to /pol/ and /r9k/. Never go on those anymore cause they suck almost as much as /b/. I exclusively browse /bant/ regularly now.
> read the thread
almost noone is visiting porn boards? Y'all either lying, or weird.
Sure, that's why I'm here (though my reasons are not exactly the same - either way you can't live on porn)
I'm just saying, /hc/ was the second thing I checked out after discovering 4chan. And /h/ and /gif/ followed not much later.
2014 i think?
/a/ ( i was too scared to go to any ofher board because i believed in the rumors about 4chan)
/r9k/ i think?
I had a friend tell me about it when I was 12, and he'd tell me stories about it, but I never went on. I'm glad I didn't, that shit would've fucked me up when I was a kid.
As for first boards, it was pretty average, /b/, /pol/, and /bant/
Came here in 2016, first three boards are /b/, /pol/ and /r9k/
What's sad about me is that I still browse /v/ all these years later.
tought this place was so cancerous that i didnt come back for a year after that
look at me now
I wish I had stayed on the blue boards. I can never go back.
I was from reddit and tumblr when I was 12-16 and was always told how /pol/ is the root of evil and I went with my tumblr friends to "raid" them, and I... never returned.
want to get into /diy/ but it's just so slow.
Old forum I used to lurk on got shut down. Different community leaders went different places, and somehow I ended up in this madhouse.
I feel ya man, sometimes I even have to go onto /fit/ with Werk Tyme on, not to mention these yellow boards.
>says the person with a crescent and a star in their flag
I am letting Terry know about this
Been here for so long. Seen it all.
And everything else.
Salute to all other Oldfags, we've been though some shit. Enjoy our hobby.

I did not count the trolls so numbers may be off. Is it a good thing that more people are coming in the last years?
i switch my main board every month or so but i have multiple side boards. so i'll just list my main boards that i remember in order of when i went to them.
this was my loop for a while now but /bant/ has joined it.
probably '09, i used a different imageboard and they were talking about this one and so i checked it out and thought it was scary.
i used /a/ sometimes over the course of that time but i only started using it again actively in early 2016 with /g/, as i made the switch to 100% linux and wanted a place to talk about things.
i end up on other boards sometimes too but usually i am just on /g/.
/c/ mainly, with a little of /a/. /azu/ whenever this shit went offline for weeks.
I then mained /g/ for like a year, then /co/ for another. Then around '07/'08 I left /co/ for good and mained /a/ for years. Then n/a/ruto happened, and I left for maybe half a year, but didn't manage to stay away because I'm here forever.
Nowadays... I don't think I have a main board. I use /jp/ and /pol/ heavily. Some /bant/, some /v/, some /lit/, some /wsg/. /a/ whenever I need to discuss chinese cartoons I've recently watched (pic related, what I watched this season) because something interesting happened, but overall I stay away from it. Tried to main /wsr/, but after a couple of months it felt like hitting your head against a brick wall again and again, so now I only go there once a day tops.
started lurking around 2009, had visited the site a few times before though
only started posting often in 2012 when I got into watching football and posted on /sp/
now, I only visit /sp/ during the NFL season and the grand slams. spend most of my time on /a/
Same guy you asked here. Now I know what you were talking about. Was at the workplace when it suddenly hit me that there was a thread about an Anon being sad about his dick. I was in that thread too.
/pol/ will always be my home though.
You do realize you are being datamined right now?
>/b/, /c/, /e/.
If this was someone's attempt at 'datamining' they really need to find new data to mine, kveck.
Regardless, the NSA knows all of this stuff anyways.
The real datamining threads are the steam giveaways.
