I saw it without knowing what to expect, and I loved it, but yea I get what you are saying. The twist was kinda cool but definitely not complex or "mind boggling". I just thought it was well done and entertaining. I liked how they built anticipation throughout the movie and how they represented a possible alien life form. The twist was just a bonus. It's not an intelligent movie, like Interstellar was.

The "twist" was awfully predictable (Charlize Theron's family being dead already and back at that wasteland place they went to)

Mad Max felt big time neutered in this movie. Why is our first reintroduction to this classic character him basically getting his ass whupped by a buncha guys? Talk about a limp dick intro.

That's like reintroducing Luke Skywalker in Episode 8 with 20 guys mobbing him and making him look like a bitch. Weak.

Again, on the same point, Mad Max didn't really feel like the star of the show very much. Charlize Theron nearly upstaged him.

I'm not that poster but the science behind interstellar was very spot on. They hired lots of leaders in physics and theoretical physics for the job. The part where a wormhole is spherical instead of an actual hole is a very recent scientific theory with plausible calculations backing it up. The light around the black hole that jetted off almost like an arrow is also based on data and science based theories.

I like how he used time dilation and general relativity in the story, and created a closed loop with the story that almost seems like a paradox but it isn't. I like how he used the concept of a black hole to create that loop, which is scientifically not-impossible except for the small minor detail of being shredded into a million pieces within a few hundred thousand miles of an actual black hole. But still, it was relatively "realistic" compared to other sci-fi movies.
