Is Trump literally retarded?
>Completely fucks over the EPA. Yeah, that will show those goddamn tree hugging foreigners. The thing is, this will only affect Americans when companies get a free pass to do whatever the fuck they want. Enjoy your brown drinking water
>Exit from Paris agreement is more symbolic than anything, but it just proves hes a reactionary cunt
>Wants to bring back fucking COAL. Which is even more retarded. Nations did not abandon coal because it's unclean, they did because it's fucking ineffective and produces nasty smoke in the area around the plant. Again, only affecting Americans

The thing is though, hes not putting american interests first at all. Hes just a retarded, regressive dinosaur that thinks he is being clever by going against the stream.

Renewable tech will win in the medium/long term. Exxon knew this, which is why they wanted him to stay on the agreement.

The thing about renewable tech is the infrastructure hump. Once you pass those the costs of maintaining them are much, much lower than fossil fuels. When maintenance costs are low, more money and resources can be spent on further investment.

Just look at California. They are producing so much goddamn solar power now that the energy prices are almost negative. Exxon wanted to stay on so they could use that sweet government money to grow into green tech.

Trump instead id now funneling gov.funds into shit like fucking coal instead of renewable energy because >muh jaas. No one wants to work in a coal mine, its fucking nasty. With that kind of logic, he might as well ban manufacturers from using robotics and demand they get the 1920's assembly line back.

Trumps energy politics is not only retarded because the environment, it's mostly retarded because it's reactionary, short sighted and won't pay off in the long run.

Just saying.

It's business friend. The future is green, and the companies who are in the business of making energy know it. They will do what makes them money. Your entire narritive of muh globalism, muh communism is dead dude. You're the old husk of a long dead meme, it's time to just let the future grab hold. It's going to sooner or later. >Tuesday, in an interview with E&E News, Bates himself downplayed any suggestion of misconduct. “The issue here is not an issue of tampering with data, but rather really of timing of a release of a paper that had not properly disclosed everything it was,” he told reporter Scott Waldman. And Bates told ScienceInsider that he is wary of his critique becoming a talking point for those skeptical of human-caused climate change. But it was important for this conversation about data integrity to happen, he says. “That’s where I came down after a lot of soul searching. I knew people would misuse this. But you can't control other people,” he says

So even Bates doesn't dispute the warming. But, as he says, you can't control people.

It's not about nostalgia, fuckwit. Coal is abundant, not dependent on subsidies, and best of all: CHEAP. Excuse me for not wanting to spend $300 per month to light up my apartment just so I can pretend I'm preventing the apocalypse.

So-called "green energy" can't compete economically and isn't developed enough to be useful on a global scale. We have lots of coal. Let's use that first so we don't bankrupt ourselves chasing the pipe dreams of statist con men masquerading as scientists and environmentalists.

I think you are the one who is gullible friend. Putting your money on fossil fuels is retarded when the future clearly lies in other energy sources.

Trump has repeatedly shown he knows fuck all about most things you would expect a head of state to know about and energy is no exception.

I never said we should use fossil fuels exclusively. It's just plain stupid to abandon such a cheap and abundant energy source for undeveloped alternatives, putting millions out of work and hiking up everyone's energy bills.

Besides, the Paris deal wasn't about clean energy or protecting the environment. At all.

A hundred dollar solar panel lasts twenty years, the average house uses a hundred bucks of electricity a month.

The average house can be entirely fitted with solar electric for about $5000

That means, with some basic economic planning, if its affordable for you, you can spend four years of electric budget, and get 20 years of electricity out of it. Admittedly, you'll have to replace the batteries once, and it helps to stay on the wire for cloudy days, you might sip a little electricity from the grid. But electronics are getting more efficient, too. With the right set-up, you can power your car from solar once the cars get more common and affordable. Panels and batteries are getting cheaper, making the cost per watt less and less each year, as everything else goes higher.

So heres the question... why do fossil fuel people refuse to accept this as a job creator, regardless of their party affiliation? Big industry understands the math, even if they don't care about environmental issues. They are beholden to shareholders to use the cheapest energy to maximize profits, any company would jump at the chance of cutting their energy consumption by 2/3rds. Make no mistake, they WILL do this when they have to do their next re-fits of turbines or build new factories in places with cheap land away from rail lines or Natural Gas transmission pipes.

People don't seem to get this - factories can take time to alternative fuels. But they will not build new facilities with antiquated technology with a fifty year time horizon til the next plant. Solar is not a fad. Its just a slow roll-out. You only have to look at new construction to see the nods towards the future practices, like low-E glass and reclaiming water from greenspace on the roof. They're all doing these things, and everything adds up to a few watts here, a few R-factors of insulation there, its part of the design. Innovation doesn't stop.

The EPA is actually pretty infamously corrupt.

On the Paris Climate Accord, which you probably didn't read, notice that it claims "developed countries" should pick up the tab for green technology and administration for "developing countries."

Trump's America First, so why should we be sending money to places like buttfuck Jamaica or some shit so they can pretend to spend it on solar cells & rainbows?

Yes. 90s Trump (his younger self) would be mocking him, saying something like "We need to impeach that egotistical senile lunatic, and we need to do it now." If 90s or even 80s Trump could see the Trump he would become now, he would probably spend millions on anti-brainwashing programs for himself and drugs that extend the life of coherent brain function. Either that, or run for president before he becomes an orange clown.

For example the potential for solar power in the southern states are fucking immense. Picking coal/gas ahead of that is fucking stupid because those are finite resources, solar power is not.

You will never get rid of electrical companies though so its a moot point. You can't live completely off the grid and the govt would never let that happen
>>
>>734510477
First - you haven't considered environmental hazards for those 20 years.
Living in tornado alley, we get hail to the size of grapefruits every Spring. Solar cells do not survive that.
Secondly, if you can get homeowner's insurance for your home (here, if the home is over a certain age, regardless of how well maintained it is, it will not be insured by any agency), there is no guarantee that your solar cells would be included on your policy.
It also depends on your state's total solar days - here, we get about 64% of the sun and have about 140 sunny days.
Most places have less - New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada have the most days and highest percentage. Someone in say, NY - they get about 46% and 93 clear days.
So - until they invent solar cells that A: can generate even from cloudy conditions and B: withstand the most impactful weather - it's not a realistic solution that would benefit everyone because of those above concerns.
We are still likely 30-50 years before solar tech becomes a viable source - same with wind, wave and any future forms of renewable energy - right now, unless you just live in the Desert SW, or someplace incredibly windy year round and use a combination of Savonius, Derrieus and horizontal axis towers, you probably won't benefit greatly from those either.
We're still in our infancy for renewable energy. You will see a small savings by investing in some for personal use, but it's not going to be much considering the cost for maintenance and related issues of battery replacement and equipment repair.
Honestly for $5000, homeowners are better off spending that money on better insulation for more efficient current heating and cooling of their home resulting in lower energy usage and costs.
>>
>>734504297
You're retarded and you should never speak out of your own mind ever in your life. Instead of giving money away to shitholes like china and India we should focus on bettering the country by funding local energy research. Giving money to other countries tha make triple as much pollution as us is not the answer so please go find the nearest Nigger and suck his cock because that's obviously what you like doing.
>>
>>734512709
Living in the South I can say - no it's not huge. Usually 1/3rd or more of the year is spent cloudy or rainy. We have wind farms here, and 0 solar farms because outside of 3 states in the desert SW, solar production isn't completely viable yet.
>>
>>734513153

It's impressive that wrote all of that with literally no understanding of solar panels. I work with a company that installs them and I've been with them for 6 years. You alleged grapefruit sized hail won't do shit to modern panels.

You also fail to realized that if you turned sizable deserts in the southwest into solar farms, they could then lend that stored power to other states that aren't getting enough sun.

Read a book or kill yourself. I dont care which.
>>
>>734513555
Silly me, should have known you're a just another fucking Jew shill.
You have a bias for solar energy because you're in the industry and lie about it too - grapefruit size hail, actually all severe hail, account for more than $15 billion in losses each year and growing and is second only to automobile insurance claims. Solar cells are not more fucking durable than other home making materials, faggot.
Get the fuck outta here with your bullshit Jew lying to sell solar cells.
It's faggots like you that make this place a shithole when we could have discussed the pros and cons civilly, instead your Jewness made your inner cunt come out.
Die in a solar fire, cocksucker.
>>
>>734513555
Beat me to it

Solar panels are so fucking durable it doesn't make sense. They are actually tougher than a lot of actual roofing materials.

As for maintenance, you don't know much about coal plants if you think they are cheap. Coal plants are hugely expensive to build and maintain. There's a reason why the growth in solar generation has been far higher than predicted, and coal needs subsidies, and is shrinking anyway.

Personally I think we need more hydro, pumped and conventional.

Dam. Pretty sad that this is so difficult for you to understand. Doesn't matter what you beleive, look at the effects. What happens as CO2 rises at a rate unprecedented in the history of the earth. Doubling our CO2 levels in 70 years to 400ppm, CO2 levels haven't been this high since 1.2 million years ago.

Then look up the effects of adding CO2 to the atmosphere. Unless you have an extra chronosome, you don't have to be retarded.

>You will never get rid of electrical companies though so its a moot point. You can't live completely off the grid and the govt would never let that happen
Electrical companies can supply electricity, nobody says they can't. How they generate it is up to them. Many people can't afford to retro-fit their house, many people rent, many people need to plug in in places they don't own a solar array.

Did you know, about a hundred years ago, natural gas meters had a slot where you could put a nickel into it, and it would allow gas into the house for 24 hours? Things change, man. Explain to me how theres not a retail market for electricity. Ten years ago, Uber was inconceivable. About a hundred years ago, you had to buy gasoline in cans, and gas stations were life and death for an entire town - people wouldn't buy a house unless a gas station was near, if they bought a car it changed how they designed the rest of their life. Fifty years before that, the same was true about railroad lines. Every fifty (ish) years, something like that happens with some mode of transportation or energy development. How is 1960 til now any different? (hint - 1960s was commoners using air travel) If you think theres no "boom" on the horizon, you are whats known as a "luddite".

I'm sorry to hear the insurers have declined to participate in home purchasing. Thats fucked up, because you can't get a mortgage without insurance. So I will assume they're bulldozing the midwest as we speak.

Whats wrong champ? The hundred dollar solar panel, or the hundred dollar electric bill?

Ok, I'll rephrase it. I have an average house, and it uses about a hundred bucks a month on a yearly basis, summer and winter are higher because of using a space heater, or air conditioner, depending on the season. The spring and fall, which in the energy world are known as "shoulder months", it uses less.

So, are you really gonna argue with me about my personal bill, or if I can purchase a solar panel for a hundred bucks? Idiot.

My coal stock doubled.
