This is common in people who are borderline schizophrenic, and it's a very big warning sign that:

1. You should stop smoking, you'll make things worse
2. You should speak to a doctor about the fact you've heard voices

It sucks, but you're better off doing something about this now than waiting for it to become a problem. Out of curiosity, do you have any other symptoms? Things like being unmotivated, depressed, maybe being disillusioned with the world, or not believing certain things are real? A lot of those are common (schizophrenic or not) so they might not mean anything by themselves, but in combination with this.. yeah.

Hi there anon 4chan user! Just stopping by to ask why you didn’t end this comment with a period? You are aware that this is improper punctuation and therefore the wrong way to go about using the english language correct? I think I speak for this community as a whole when I say that this is quite disturbing and it makes me very confused. Was this merely an accident? Did you really mean to add more but accidentally posted? Were you killed mid sentence? The problem is I have no clue! This will most definitely keep me up tonight if you don’t respond and acknowledge what you have done. Please reply with the proper correction. Thank you in advance it is greatly appreciated and I hope this clears up any confusion for any others in this thread.

Upon further investigation after I have typed this out you also did not capitalize the first letter in your sentence. Please acknowledge this mistake as well and let me know you will not be doing this in the future.

Getting weird and anxcious is pretty common for everyone when they're high. Also wow, I got quads for the first time in my life. Neat.

>>734492560
Yes, but they're a relatively uncommon side effect. The theory is THC can reveal / worsen the symptoms of schizophrenia if you have it. I'm not trying to scare OP obviously, but if they have some of the other symptoms it might be worth looking into. Especially if they're late teens / early twenties since that's when the symptoms start to develop.

>>734493125
It can, but it's uncommon, and you have to smoke a lot. It is definitely psychoactive.

Legit psychiatric nurse here.
Cannabis can be a provocative factor to push you into a psychosis. You are not necessarily schizophrenic but if you keep on smoking or abuse other substances it has a very high chance of pushing you deeper. So deep that you won't come back from it, even after the substance loses it's effect.

Stop now in any case and if possible, go talk to a doctor about it.
>>
>>734493732
>>734493591
>>734493656

Same guy who got the quads again, this definitely sounds like you're at risk for schizophrenia.

I had all of these same problems when I used to smoke, and shit got progressively worse over time. I was in high school then.

You seriously might want to talk to a psychiatrist and / or cut back on the weed. Especially if anything happens when you aren't smoking.

Just be aware, if you are schizophrenic you usually aren't able to identify the symptoms yourself (you won't believe there's anything wrong, you become delusional).

Also based on what you're saying, it doesn't seem like you have very good highs anyway. If you're having panic attacks and stuff it's probably not worth it. :/

Very much this. Idk if you are schizophrenic and a couple of sentences on an image board isn't enough for even a qualified psychiatric professional to know with any amount of confidence(>>734494149 btw).

I smoked pot for the better part of 18-24 years old.
Lost my memory, lost cognition, lost spatial-awareness.
Gained stress, ability to anger quickly, paranoia, and inability to focus on any kind of academics.

I work on addiction mostly (also EU). Sometimes I help out at fear/depression/borderline.
My patients are pretty much voluntary, some a pressured into therapy by their families but they can still quit whenever they want by law. Once in a blue moon we get an involuntary admittance.
The average length of stay is 2-4 months. +aftercare of a year (they come in once a week for a talk).
We let patients go home in the weekends ASAP though, so they don't get adjusted to the safety of the clinic.

>>734494453
I don't know what's going with OP but what I said is a possibility. Since he hasn't been in any long period of psychosis, chances are very slim he's a schizophrenic. Drug induced psychotic symptoms tend to be rather harmless, provided the substance abuse doesn't carry on.

No worries even though I made sure to choose my words carefully. "Can", "not necessarily", "high chance".
I'm just guessing, but hearing voices while under the influence tends to point towards drug induced psychosis. I've seen it many times and people tend to come back from it just fine provided they abstain from further use. If they keep abusing, things tend to get ugly. And fast.

OP should get further help but quitting weed (and not substituting it with something else) is undoubtedly the best step he can take right now, no matter what his actual issue is.

I'd quit smoking weed and speak to a doctor about the fact that you hear voices while being high, that's not normal. If you continue smoking weed it could trigger psychosis in you. Also you might get psychotic no matter what you do later in your life, if you're unlucky. In this case, welcome to the wonderful world of schizophrenia!

voices in your head are absolutely auditory hallucinations if they're something that you can't control, though it's not the only form of auditory hallucination

Haldol can take between 6-9 weeks to show effects. In some fringe cases, it won't ever take hold.
If he is feeling his therapist isn't providing all the necessary information and help, I'd suggest he looks elsewhere. There are alternative paths he could take, both medicinal and therapeutic.

It's important to know that trust is the main factor in any therapeutic relationship. It won't come easy for your brother due to the paranoia still lingering but it's still absolutely essential for him to get better.
Keep looking until you find someone he can trust. Gender can play a factor here too.

Any therapist can pump him full of meds but if there is no trust it won't do much good. Meds can only do so much with psychic disorders. There are no magic pills that will take it all away, it's always combined with some form of therapy.
>>
>>734499934

Yeah, it's vital he gets non medicinal therapy too. Sadly, some docs just love fucking around with pills until the patient is so numb he doesn't care any more. They are just stuck in the ancient bio-medical way of thinking. Paternalistic morons.
And my pleasure. I wish you and your brother the best.
>>
As someone who is a diagnosed schizophrenic, you need to stop smoking ASAP.

I smoked for a long time, but then one night I litterally lost my mind. It lasted for about a week and I ended up being taken to the hospital and was admitted to a psych ward for 5 days.

>Stick to alchohol.
Don't. Alcohol actually has a higher chance of inducing psychotic symptoms and all sorts of deliriums. Alcohol pushes harder and faster.
Not to mention alcohol is a habit a lot harder to break.

The sad truth is that once you experienced psychotic symptoms due to any form of substance you should stay away from every drug under the sun.
>>
>>734501072
I did not know this.

I haven't read anywhere that alcohol can cause psychotic symptoms and deliriums. Can you provide a credible source?

But yes, alcohol is much more addictive. But I don't get drunk every night or even buzzed. Moderation is key.

Perhaps these serious psychotic symptoms only come out in heavy, daily use?
>>
>>734501325
Have you never heard of the delirium tremors?

I've been addicted to and heavily abused both alcohol and marijuana. Heavy toker (3.5g/daily+) for 3 years and heavy alcoholic for 2 years (100+ drinks per week)

Both are shit to be completely addicted to, only upside was the weed was easier to quit. I personally feel like low dose weed helps with my psychotic symptoms, whereas high doses can throw me straight into psychosis.

OP, don't go to booze. It isn't safe. Marijuana WDs suck, but alcohol withdraws can fucking kill.

Take care, and if you hear voices when you smoke, try smaller hits, or just not smoking at all.

Just read the conclusion bit, it'll tell you enough.

It's rather rare and it usually affects chronic alcoholics. But it's not that rare neither. I've seen it happen a few times over. That said, if you had a psychotic breakdown from cannabis before you should realize that you have a much higher chance of going through the same due to alcohol.

I'm not judging and it's your mind and body so I'm not going to tell you stop, especially if you apply the necessary moderation. But just be aware that you are a risk of it all happening again if you push it too hard.
>>

my psychiatrist never told me about this, even joked about me drinking alcohol right after my first psychosis and told me stories from when he got back from whiskey tasting basically encouraging me to drink.

I'm this anon btw, >>734498171 , but I also quit smoking weed after first psychosis, and only rarely socially drink alcohol now, and never encountered much of a problem with it.
although when drunk I tend to talk about my problems more and tell people that I suffer from schizo, which always strikes me as stupid in the morning, that's why I usually refrain from drinking altogether, or at least from getting really drunk.
