Rick and Morty is better. South Park has a lot of good elements and is thought provoking, but at times I can get a feeling of disgust during the show that's simply unpleasant (such as when the teacher takes a shit on the desk). Even though R&M is crude, Im never disgusted. The creators of R&M just present their points and humor in a better, more campy, less disgusting way.

I've actually been watching marathon of the show on streams and one thing that really struck me actually is how much non-continuity it has had this whole time.

There is an episode where two cops kill themselves. Several episodes later, those two cops are actually still alive appearing in another episode.

The show has always had very minor continuity but the latest seasons have definitely turned it up way more as you put it. I still say what I said earlier is hurting the show way more

I don't watch southpark but I think it has more of a right to the king of cartoon comedy title because it has been around longer. Rick and Morty still has more to prove. Regardless, there are many cartoon comedies that can stand up to either of them. Simpson's, American Dad, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, even.

South Park is one of the longest running cartoons in American history. Regardless of which show you like more it would take at least a decade for Rick and Morty to attain anywhere near the level of cultural relevance or influence South Park has had. Cartoons like these weren't always popular or widely accepted.

American Dad is criminally underrated. It is like Family Guy, but without the flashbacks, which is why Family Guy sucks so much ass now. The characters in American Dad are also not one-dimensional characters. Admittedly, it has declined somewhat in recent seasons, but it is still one of the few shows that makes me laugh.

South Park is great and all, but I don't find myself eagerly awaiting the next episode like I do Rick and Morty.

Animated comedies have been shit for a long time now, KOTH was the last decent one, and even that went a bit south before it ended. Rick and Morty seems to appeal to the LOLSORANDUMB, liberal, pot smoking, millenial, pseudo gamer, atheist crowd, so nah.

South Park has always been high high points and low low points for me, it became sour 6 or 7 years ago.

As an adult, the mindfuck's in the show is genuine dark humour. The fact that it's also a parody influenced by Back to the Future, and a parody of formulaic television in general, peaks my interest.

Like anon from earlier said, Family Guy was good for only the first few seasons. It sucks major balls and the flashbacks isn't the only thing. Some of the punchlines and jokes they do can only appeal to the biggest normie idiots on the planet. It is just plain unfunny. A good example of what I mean is that one episode where Peter thinks he is a woman and then says guilty in a gay voice for like a minute. Family Guy is full of dumb obnoxious humor like that going on for the longest time now.

I agree with you entirely. The earlier hand-drawn animation gave the show character that it has long since forgotten. Also most of the original writers left to join American Dad when FG first got cancelled. That didn't help.

Unlike the Simpsons, South Park and Family Guy still have funny moments, thought Family Guy's plot structure is schizophrenic to say the least.

Rick and Morty is only better now because it's only been 2 seasons so the consistency is there.

However, South Park has a more established reputation and there are more total episodes in South Park that are funnier than all the Rick and Morty episodes (Scott Tenorman, AWESOME-O, The Losing Edge, etc.)

So for now, South Park. But both shows are different. Rick and Morty all ties together so it's almost like an HBO show where as South Park with the exception of the last 2 seasons that weren't even that good, are individual escapades.

Both are good though but if you have to choose, South Park is still 'King". Rick and Morty is coming though, and I'm damn happy for that.

Have you seen how South Park is made? Storyline, animated and aired within a week. Creators are geniuses.

As for Family Guy itself, it's just gotten old. I'll watch one episode and laugh at maybe one joke while the rest is just regurgitated old jokes. The only good episodes anymore are the Brian and Stewie ones that come out maybe once a season. It lost its touch because the storylines per episode were absolute trash where as other comedies, they could lead up to someone epic which intensified the hilarity. Example: Scott Tennorman episode from South Park or Homer as a boxer in Simpsons.
