>robots and computers become so intelligent and adaptive that they can work >almost no human is required to do any work >everyone can live free in an utopian society >98% of all jobs and tasks can and are performed by robots
>>734317141 However, >almost all robots are owned by richest 1% >robot labor makes them even richer >it's always cheaper to buy a robot than to pay a human >most of humanity lives in poverty because nobody will pay them to work
>>734317568 Yep, some people will get paid to maintain the robots (for a brief period until we build robots to do that). Everyone else will starve because it costs more to keep them fed and sheltered than the market will pay for their labor.
>>734318090 OP's premise is that computers and robots are intelligent and adaptive. Of course the Maintenance Robot 9001 will be able to repair all sorts of other robots, including maintenance robots. Sure, there are some things that humans will have to do, but the vast majority of humans will be more expensive than robots for a given task, and will therefore be jobless and broke.
>>734318470 The AI will replace a lot of jobs we humans do, but with all the profits made from having AI, the companies could grow and create new jobs and maybe fill markets that aren't capable of being met on a mass scale yet
>>734317680 >>734318090 oh darn, how stupid you are. If robots do everything money isn´t required and as enough workers are there, enough food could be supplied BUT no one who could build robots by now would want this because humans still depend on meassuring achievements by the amount of money they have,... Long story short: war robots because money
>>734317141 >robots and computers become so intelligent and adaptive
this will never happen, machines by their nature lack sentience and abstract thought, they will never be able to think without those thoughts being preprogrammed, they rely on an external source for programming, which will always be a sentient being, not a machine.
Even supposing that this impossibility is achieved it would mean they would eventually posses a will, at which point they become useless as machines.
>>734317141 I believe we will be able to transfer our minds (digitalization of our brain and concsiousness) into any object capable of handling it (or upgrading those that can't) people won't stay as humans, invasions of species and objects will become people. Resources won't be as big of an issue if everyone doesn't need the same ones.
