>>734311058 Look, Anon, I need to tell you something because I don't know if I'll ever see you again.
I... I was an orphan... and I was raised in a whore house in Philadelphia. I read about Milton Hershey and his school in a porno mag, or some crap the girls left by the toilet, and it said some kids had a different life there. I could picture it. I dreamt of it. The idea of being wanted. Because the girl who was forced to raise me would look at me every day like she hoped I would disappear.
The closest I came to feeling wanted was a girl... who made me go through her John's pockets while they screwed. If I collected more than a dollar... she would buy me a Hershey bar. And I would eat it... alone... in my room... with great ceremony. Feeling like a normal kid.
>>734311553 This is so stupid and ridiculous that you can say than about anyone that tries to prove the earth Is round even in this thread. >inb4 "you are a NASA spy trying to prove the earth Is round" >inb4 I actually am
>>734311800 The answer is gravity – the same force that keeps us anchored to Earth. Yet, Earth does continually lose some of its atmosphere to space. This loss occurs in the upper atmosphere, over billion-year time scales.
>>734312222 Oh, those wacky NASA conspirers. They sure done goofed up this time! Their agent was meant to circle the disc, but he messed up, and did it in 3 hours faster than an expert basement dweller analysist who knows THE TRUTH determines he should've.
Well, that's blown the whole charade wide open, hasnt it?
Couldnt possibly be that he had a tailwind that cut 3 hours off his estimated flight time? Couldnt possibly be that the plane was better than he'd thought? Couldnt possibly be that over a flight of 9 days and 40,000 kilometres, there would be variables, eh?
>>734312380 >But what if the laws of gravity are a big lie? What if gravity works differently than what has been taught to us?
then perform multiple experiments. Record gravitational constants. produce a hypothesis of what you beleive gravity to be, which does not contain conspiracies, unknowns, or other blank areas. publish the hypothesis for peer review.
Other scientists will peer-review your work. They will discolver that your experiments are correct. the observations will conclude your idea of gravity is correct.
you win the Nobel Prize for physics. You make a million dollars. you become world-famous.
Or, you do the experiments, and you will rapidly discover that gravity is exactly how they have said it is all along.
I know which is more likely, but in the event that a miracle happens... congratulations on your Nobel Prize, give 4chan a mention in your acceptance speech for having inspired you to your life's work. Good luck.
>>734312380 Gravity works the same way, every single time. No matter what you do, your object will always gravitate to one with more mass. the inner workings of the force are still mysterious, but our observations of gravity has never changed and the evidence is irefutable.
>>734313480 Do you even physics? The 9.8 m/s^2 is a local approximation of gravity as a constant vector field to make newtonian physics easier. In reality, we are in a gravitational field that is definitely non-constant..... use newton's universal gravity equation.... as distance changes, g changes.... https://www.mansfieldct.org/Schools/MMS/staff/hand/lawsgravaltitude.htm
If the earth were flat the entire planet would either face the sun or away from it at the same time. There would be no time zones, places like the arctic of Canada and Greenland and Scandinavian where they have incredibly long night wouldn't exist and there would be no reason for days to get longer or shorter as the seasons change since thats due to the angle the planet is rotating
>>734313931 The gravitational constant is 6.67408 × 10^(-11) And is used to calculate force of gravitational pull.
But it requires mass which can change, if you stand on top of an iron deposit you can see a difference on gravitational pull than if you stood on less mass.
Your calculation is based on the entire mass of the earth as a generalization of earths gravity. Earth's mass isn't uniform and Earth's gravitational field will fluctuate depending on where you are. Not noticeably for a human but it can be measured.
>>734314376 >new guy here, my source is vsauce, different parts of the earth have subtle changes in gravity
Yes. different areas and in fact, on a 5.9 year cycle, different chronology DO have a different gravitational constant - measurement values analysed range from approximately 6.672 × 10−11 N·(m/kg)2 to 6.675 × 10−11 N·(m/kg)2, which is a percentage variation of about 10-4.
However, that 10-4 variation is, in realistic terms, roughly equivalent to the measurement variation in running a tape measure from NYC and Indianapolis, and coming up with a difference of 1 metre, between all your measurements.
