Now you just need to sanitize your hard drive. Just because you delete something doesn't mean it's gone. It just means your system doesn't remember the address of where that something is stored. That space is available for new storage, but if you have lots of memory that new storage might not happen for a long time.

But here's what I know:
IP that is attached to the email is enough for a subpoena. Doesn't require an alias/address/any other personal identification.

It's usually Feds that begin the case, and work with whatever local agencies as they close in.

1. Gmail does their weekly/monthly scan
2. Emails are flagged, probably up to a hundred monthly
3. By law, Google is required to report any related content to the feds. "Federal law requires that electronic communication providers like Google report instances of suspected child abuse when it becomes aware of them, "
4. Either Homeland Security, FBI, or even ICE sometimes, all get involved.
5. Federal complaint issued, IP traced, ISP subpoenaed and they will be looking for the account holder specifically and go from there
6. Probably take up to a month, maybe longer. Sometimes up to a year they catch up with these dudes who think they are in the clear.
7. They. will. find you.
8. Face plastered on local TV and tabloids
