Blood Meridian is top 3 best books I've ever read. After finishing it, I reread it immediately. I believe it would be a much better choice for high school lit classes. Its a great expression of the dying American west. Better than that POS grapes of wrath.

I found a recommended reading order of The Entire Robot series that takes into account the book release order but dances around the spoilers that reading in chronological order would have.

From what I've heard I'm really excited to read The Foundation Trilogy, but I think they're near the end of the list. Sounds much more interesting than the nearly modern Earth setting of the Robot trilogy.

I would recommend moderately versing yourself in philosophy before getting into classic literature. You will get so much more out of the classics (which I assume is what you were asking about) and lighter novels in general because any worthwhile literature is almost a roundabout way of discussing philosophy, or it at least features prominently in most if not all of the most well regarded classics of all time. You're not going to understand much of what is going on in anything worth reading until you have a basis of what underlies them.

It's not about reading at all, it's about ego.

So, get an intro to philosophy textbook and verse yourself on the common philosophical debates and ideas if you want to get anything out of reading worthwhile literature. Literature is essentially a puzzle and you need to be able to get some sort of basis for determining how to put the pieces together.
