If the characters didn't have a backstory they wouldn't be characters. The definition of Character is, "the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual". If these "characters" had 0 backstory, and 0 motivations, then they could not be considered characters they would be considered load-outs.
You don't have to follow the story if you don't wan to, you have all the power here. There is no point in complaining about story decisions, if you don't like it, don't consume it.

Some will argue that a character is just a person in a form of media. This is somewhat true, but have you ever seen a movie, or read a book in which a characater had 0 humanising factors, if you have that 'character' was boring as shit and you wouldn't be able to identify with them at all. If that's what you want from your video game characters, again overwatch doesn't force it's lore on you, just don't pay attention to it.

Well you're kind of right. Acceptance is usually linked to not changing things, but there's a big difference betweeen 'at peace' with your body and dysphoria. Dysphoria is when your body disgusts you so badly it causes mental harm.

After the release of WE WERE ENGINEERS AND SHIT and being 9 years olds I'm starting to get tired of the SJW pandering also.
