pretty much turning it into a PC of sorts. the modding community for xbox original was lively for a really long time so you can see some cool shit. You can replace the HDD in there with a bigger one which isn't terribly tough to do but you'll want to if you're going to do backups.

This thread just brought back so many memories of Action Replay. I recently found the PC dongle for transferring everything to the AR memory card. I'll never forget playing as an enemy NPC. Modding took over, and writing my own trainers for Halo was so fucking awesome.

Unleash X was my softmod dashboard of choice.

OP, if you plan on softmodding, you'll need a copy of

It's fairly simple. When you get the exploited game saves onto your Xbox, you just load up those saves and they'll exit the game and go into the installation screen. It asks you to backup the dashboard before atempting an install. After that, it'll ask you which dashboard you want to install. Unleash X is great for normies.

i mentioned earlier to have an Xbox Live enabled disc on hand just in case something doe go wrong. Since Xbox games were considered their own Operating System, they check to see if the dashboard is available. When it isn't, or is outdated, the Xbox Live enabled disc will reinstall the dashboard.

Modding is great for reading discs with games burned to them. Default hard drives are only about 6GB.
