Has religion done anything for you personally?

Has praying worked for you?
>>
>>724833497
Yes. Praying works a lot for me.

I've prayed for things I thought were never going to happen and they actually did happen.
>>
It has greatly helped me understand how to deceive and manipulate people. The application of this skill has been beneficial to me in life.
>>
>>724833497
Praying works. But not always. Magically it works at about the same percentage anything happens.

God is real

religion is not

I will Pray for you.

God forgives all that are misguided.
>>
I like to think that "God" is just some guy like us, and probably didn't ask to have people constantly ask for things from him and he didn't ask for people to blame him for every mistake they make.
>>
>>724833497
No and no. I've found that actually doing something is a far better solution than prayer.
>>
>>724834081
>God
who?
>>
Religion has encouraged my parents to abuse their children.
>>
>>724834150
The creator of heaven and earth.
>>

Such a person does not exist.

>"God has answered my prayers"
>Pray for something again

>implying everything just existed

wew lad

You're gonna cut yourself being that edgy
>>
>>724836308
>implying eternal bearded white man in the sky created everything in 6 days

you can't be this retarded. Likely trolling
>>
>>724836284
from my understanding prayers are requests. You pray for mercy, or health, or whatever, but ultimately it's like asking your parents for something when you 6.

Hence the "all God's children" line
>>
A girl once prayed a job for me. Didn't take many days till, literally, my boss came to my front door and asked me back to work.
>>
>>724836308
No that is not at all the implication. I can't stand people like you, you intentionally misrepresent your opponent's position because you care more about winning than being right or honest. Fuck you
>>
>>724836419
>implying the human representation of God is fact
>implying the Bible wasn't ultimately written by man who has a track record of fucking things up

My understanding of God is that which will never be understood or known. It's only really by ease of use I use the term "God"
>>
>>724836481
You married this girl, right Anon?

RIGHT?!
>>
>>724836611
I just don't understand why anyone would believe in a God/Gods/Eternal being/Whatever when there is literally zero evidence of such a being.
>>
>>724836673
Well, I love her and she likes me very much as well, but she's kinda nitpicky and super against alcohol. She wouldn't have one single bottle of beer in her fridge :C

I'm praying for a pancreatitis for myself.
>>
>>724836724
There has to be "something"

Where the fuck did everything come from? That's what God is to me. God makes sense of what you can't make sense of.

idk, maybe it's just me because even in my edgiest most "fuck God" days, I never stop believing in "something more"
>>
>>724834081
Thankfully, you have the right to believe in any mythology you want. Just realize that just because most people in your society believe in the same mythology doesn't make it truth.
>>

Dude, are you kidding me? Alcohol is not worth a wife with a direct line to God. Get sober faggot and have some kids

Your life must be pretty fucking easy if you actually believe that.

They're pure cancer. Being religious isn't enough for them, practitioners need to shove their religion down everyone else's throat.

your prayers are a point of attraction for energys

When you pray you dont get what you want , you get what you deserve.

ppl do this all the time unconsciously,

>simplified

You are the center of the universe
(your universe)

and you are calling forces to you.
>>
>>724841181
I don't think it's THAT bad compared to all the isms that people are forcing on image boards, for example.
>>
Yes, prayer has worked for me. I hate putting in those terms though. It's not like "I pushed this button and made someone do my bidding."

Saying it "worked" is more like it brought me closer to God, I think it helped me understand God better, and although I believe God knows my prayers I accept that what I ask for isn't always the best outcome. And when prayers aren't answered in the way I wanted, I have an easier time seeing why they weren't.

On a side note, through prayer I have found myself in a position to help answer other people's prayers - sometimes anonymously, sometimes not. But I am definitely more aware of ways I can help someone else.

I don't imagine my comment will change anyone else's viewpoint but it is my experience.

I have another.

"Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God."

I read that once and prayed my hands to be instruments of righteousness for God and next week I was asked to play in a praise band. That was pretty cool.
>>
>>724841485
It's true that there are worse things, but that doesn't make semitic religion good.
>>
>>724841381
Technically you're the center of your own observable universe, but the entire cosmos lacks an observable or quantifiable center from our human perspective. Any center that exists is either beyond out sight or beyond our current technologies to track and find. But its the thought that counts, I guess that's part of the whole religion thing.
>>
When I was like 10 I wished for an n64 with all the games. I eventually got an n64 a few years later but not all the games. Now 17 years later I have an n64 emulator with all the games.

So I guess yes if I ignore the logical part of my brain that lets me know this was all a coincidence.
>>
>>724842177
Nice dubs, but I don't really see Christianity as a semitic religion. It's grown past the tribalistic desert religion thing that makes Judaism and Islam double-faced and brutal etc. as they are.

Our One Creator Which Flies and is Spaghetti and a Monster,

I believe Thou art the Creator of Goodness and Nourishment, and of Sustenance. I thank the Pasta, and the Sauce, and the Meatballs, for they provide me all my needs.
I thank Thee for the Many Beverages that Thou provides, for they engender true fellowship, and I will quaff them heartily, be they Beer, or Wine, or Sweet Iced Tea (in the South), or even Milk or Kool-Aid, for it is not good to withhold fluids, and I need to take care of my Body, as Beneficiary of Thine Holy Goodness.
I thank Thee for the giving of healthful Green Salad, the Yummy Garlic Bread, and the Blessed Cheese for the top of my Spaghetti, and also I am most thankful that If I eat All my Dinner, a Dessert of Extreme Chocolateness will surely follow, preferably Dark Chocolate, for it is Good.
I believe that Thou are neither Male, nor Female, but are instead beyond the reaches of the gender confusion of Man and Woman Kind, yea, thou are ageless, timeless and all-encompassing.
I most humbly thank Thee, oh Noodly Appendaged One, for Touching me with the mental capacity to adapt the mythologies of This Universe to aid and comfort me here, until that day I am able to join together with my Pastafarian Brothers and Sisters at the foot of the Beer Volcano, and enumerate my specifications at the Stripper Factory, so that happiness and contentedness and good cheer be present for all, forever and forever,
RAmen.

Jesus consistently failed me. Loki has about a 90% success rate, but he's not an egotistical faggot like Jesus, and so you'd best not go groveling like a weakling to him. In fact you're better off trying to solve your own problems, and if he deems you worthy of his aid, you'll fucking get it.

>It's grown past the tribalistic desert religion thing that makes Judaism and Islam double-faced and brutal etc. as they are.
True, but its still just as invasive. I will admit that its by far the least terrible if only because its not quite as violent nor is it taken seriously in political discourse anymore. That said the jew god is still a dick no matter which iteration of it you follow.
>>
i really don't understand how grown adults can believe in a man in the sky who can make and do anything. along with noahs ark and splitting the ocean or whatever the fuck happened. shits literally a fairytale.
>>
>>724843408
Just as invasive? Like Islam that seeks to dominate the world by terrorising and killing all non-believers until they all convert to Islam? Or invasive like the Zionists who seek to dominate the whole world with their capital?

>>724843549
God is not a man in the sky who can make and do anything.
>>
praying works if you are not a selfish cunt
>>
>>724844585
I did say less violent, didn't I?
>>
grew up in a militant athiest household but finding God now im independent. Haven't figured out which religion or denomination just yet though.
>>
>>724844585
Zionism is secular. It's gone to great lengths to be, and it's why some of the more hardline conservative Jewish sects loathe it so much.
>>
>>724844824
You noticed any Christian violence around lately?
>>
>>724833497
My mom didn't buy me an iPhone 5 on my birthday, so I prayed that Steve Jobs would die a horrible death.

Always believe in the power of Christ.

No, that's precisely why I said less violent, are you reading what I'm typing?
>>
>>724833497
Never been baptized. Never opened a bible. Only time I've stepped inside a church was for a funeral or a wedding. There's times where i want to believe there is a god but i feel like he's just not hearing me out. All i pray for is to be happy and to live in peace. living next to my neighbor and his 5 loud ass dogs doesn't help at all. i tried talking to my neighbor but he's an entitled redneck that doesn't give a fuck. I've left it alone because if it comes down to it im gonna fuck him up till he's snoring with his eyes open. I keep asking god to help me. im rambling and im not going anywhere with this but all im saying is i want to believe but im having a hard time
>>
>>724846096
If you ever decide to believe, actually read the bible before you commit.

Another answered prayer of mine: I prayed for humbleness once. I can't remember why I wanted to be more humble or what happened, but next week I was like just falling to pieces. I don't know how to explain it, but something happened that made me feel like utter shit. God likes humble people, I guess, so He likes to answer prayers like that.
