What D'yall think of the Hitch?
Love him, have yet to find a more preferable speaker.
Excuse my ignorance, what "shit" are you referring to?
Thanks for your response.
Watching this again as we speak.
Nope, just somebody with more than a cursory understanding of philosophy and intellectual history, and who subsequently understands that Hitchens was just a populist whose only real talent was making concepts that are old hat into easily digestible soundbites for the average 'armchair philosopher'.
>His Eminence is claiming to know more than a primate can possibly know and he's showing that he knows much less than most primates probably should.
That’s quite a claim — especially considering that the evidence we’ve seen from Christian media sources suggests that the substantiation boils down to nothing more than “Hitchens was friends with some Christian apologists.”
Who would you trust more? Christian apologists who have everything to gain by spreading a lie that can’t be refuted by the man himself… or his wife, Carol Blue, who was at his side when he died, and refuted this claim.
He was among the wittiest and most well-informed intellectual debaters to grace the last 2 centuries. Of course most of what he stated in his debates were re-hashed arguments already made by others, but he presented those ideas, as you said, in a way that was easily digestible and entertaining, along with plenty of relevant references to world events that most people didn't know or were plain wrong about, doing more for the fight against fanaticism than anyone had in a long fucking time.
As an atheist, I can't stand him and I think he has done great damage to his own cause. Hitchens, Ricky Gervais, and Dawkins are three of the most unpleasant motherfuckers ever. I don't know if it's because they're British or what, but the poison seeps into their discussion of religion to the point that only other hardcore atheists can stand them. They're not winning converts, and indeed they're chasing interested people away.
Christopher Hitchens is possibly the greatest Atheist that has ever lived. He also was one of the most well spoken and possibly intelligent and intellectual human beings that has ever lived. He took shit from no one and accepted his place in the world and understood that he can oppose it.
You must at least agree that Mos Def is a genius with an IQ close to 200, for Hitchens to keep up with him in this debate show Hitch was an intellectual beast. https://youtu.be/ZeXnRE6iizg
Replace atheist with basement dwelling pedophile and you're onto something.
Except you're wrong, faggot.
I used to be religious and was converted by "unpleasant" guys like him. Just because easily ass-mad fags like yourself can't listen to someone cuz you think they're a jerk, doesn't mean there aren't plenty of other people who appreciate a little justified vitriol.
Suck my dick you homosexual dick sucker, you're so gay I'd cum in your mouth faggot. Go be gay somewhere else. That's right, fuck off when you get there fuck off again.OK. (No Homo)
great guy, wish there was someone to replace him
look closer, dawkins is made to look more feminine, while the girl is made to look more masculine, if you look at her chin area you can even see the stubbles that were taken from dawkins.
and look to the eye on the right side and you can see that the wrinkles overlap from dawkins.
He is just too profound. https://youtu.be/wRsMFS8c0O0
>go masturbate to skinny bitches
tfw I've been masturbating to skinny bitches the whole time
He was very articulate, I think his politics game was weak though.
I'm actually a bigger of his brother.
>"I think his politics game was weak though"
>he didn't say things about politics I agree with
His brother is a moron when it comes to religion. Look up any of his debates with his brother or Dan Barker. Not sure about other shit.
I honestly found him to be a wee bit 'tryhard' and 'edgy' at times in his speech patterns/mannerisms, however, he was a wealth of knowledge on geopolitics, especially of the shithole that is the middle east, (muslim world, mostly) and he was extremely entertaining to listen to take apart theocrats' religious arguments and whatnot.
Also, I sincerely wish he had lived longer. I would've been interested to see what he would've had to say about the American twenty-sixteen presidential election, the regressive left, the far right's rise in response to much of it, and all of the political shitstorms happening within this recent decade.
