I looked into that too. Best I could gather, the ringland issue isn't really an issue so long as you don't fuck with the tuning and go shoving in mods.

2002 WRX here - took delivery in Nov 2001, has a few rust bubbles here and there (Minnesota fag) but only 115k miles, pulls strong, fun in the snow, and the only car payments I've had for the last 10 years have been insurance, gas, and tires. Also, my BMW actually has two modes to the blinker - If you push it one click up/down, it'll blink for a short period and automatically cancel (for lane changes, etc), and if you push it two clicks, it'll stay on for a much longer period, for signaling at intersections and red lights and such... And yes, they work.
