Prove you're a real cinephile and not an idiot, cultureless, middle school edgelord by recommending a film. Pic related.
Fuck off back to /tv/. No one gives a shit. "Cultureless" is a matter of fucking opinion. You're literally smug that people don't like what you like, you fucking hipster.
Also, Winnie The Pooh's Adventures.
fuck off tard - inb4 <3 poobear.
>hard to be a god, singapore sling, stalker, gogo second time virgin, valerie and her week of wonders, eraser head, etc - drive gone atm - all nicolas winding refns for the casuals.
Aww, that's cute. "I'm so very offended, oh no! What ever will I do?"
Nah, you're a snob for missing the entire fucking point of entertainment and asserting that the only values a movie can have is if it makes YOU PERSONALLY entertained. Here's a surprise for you: DIFFERENT people like DIFFERENT things. If someone is entertained by entertainment, it has done it's job. Period.
Adding colour to something like Night of the Hunter would be like adding 3d effects to Starry Night to make it "more realistic." In other words: you're a mouth-breathing, spray cheez-gobbling clod.
implying every movie you've ever seen hasn't gone through a dozen committees of business fags and focus groups just to make sure you think it's good "art". All movies are garbage anon. read a fucking book and quit being a corporate american tool.
This movie is great. If your becoming more open to great films that aren't necessarily based on comic book characters, car chases and explosions (or all three) try watching this, M, Lonely are the Brave, Rashomon, Paths of Glory and others. Look for films with meaning that are directed by recognized masters of thier craft. You wont be disappointed.
>START READING BOOKS YOU SON OF A FAGGOT - I RECOMMEND WALTER BENJAMIN'S "THE WORK OF ART IN THE AGE OF MECHANICAL REPRODUCTION". SO YOU CAN DEFINE HOLLYWOOD AND CINEMA OR FILM / MOVIES AS TWO ASFUCKED DIFFERENT THINGS!
There are even masterful action films if you know where to look. I'm thinking of Das Boot or Enemy at the Gate.
Me and my brother went see it recently itss really good you should check it out
Kiss of Death(1947)
Richard Widmark in one of the greatest film villain roles in history, and the greatest slap ever recorded. Also an old lady in a wheelchair goes sailing down a flight of stairs.
There are a surprising number of cinephiles with cultured taste on /b/. What the actual FUCK are you doing here?!
Das Boot is the intimate study of a group of professional submariners under unbelievable stresses that normal people in normal times will never experiences. It is not an action movie. Sorry.
>playing the tendies card
>as an insult
Oh, I'm sorry. I thought this was a thread for high and mighty snobs who think their opinions are better than anyone else's, in which case, it would still be an insult because it's dragging them back down to the level of the board.
I'd like to see The Great Leslie try that one
>intimate study of a group of professional submariners
eeeeyyyyeee wouldn't really use any of those words. It's a (fairly accurate) depiction of what serving on a Uboat in WW2 would be like. I've been on the one they have displayed in chicago. It's not pleasant to think about. I also got the impression that a few of the sailors in that movie were vets but the majority were young lads that just signed up and didn't know how harsh it would be. A fine film none the less. long tho.
>not an action movie
The greatness film ever made on the subject of revenge. It's messed up.
Eraserhead, if you like surrealism. If you've never watched a David Lynch film before though, you might find it unwatchable.
Not even close. Lucky Number Slevin and Cape Fear -- both versions -- are worlds better.
Then there's this ching chong Hong Kong bamboo flying masterpiece.
Even trips can't make that better than The Third Man
Ever seen Dead Man? I like both, but Dead Man is the best of the two. One of my favorite films. Jim Jarmusch is an underrated director, period.
John Carpenter's The Thing
Best movie ever made.

Movies with Chat 24/7 MOSTLY HORROR with some Sci-fi/Gore/Cult/80s/Weird Films
Now Playing: CURSE OF THE QUEERWOLF
It's exactly what you think it is.
This movie channel doesn't play everything under the sun. You won't have to sit through pablum like Avengers 2 or Batman movies. There are no cartoons, no musicals, no music videos, no TV shows... just movies. Specifically, It's mostly horror movies. Tons of stuff you have never heard of or seen. There are some sci-fi movies, 80s movies, cult movies, and just bizarre off the wall crazy shit like you have never seen, all mixed in to the horror movies. Over 700 movies that play randomly. None of that polling/voteskip shit, that shit doesn't work - because democracy doesn't work. No safe spaces here either. You can make rape jokes and insult minorities until you run out of edgy things to say if you want. The admins only police things that actually matter. Filmclub isn't here to have broad appeal or as many viewers as possible. It's here as an alternative to all the tired repetitive BS you get from the average vanilla stream. 24/7/365 movies most other streams won't play. Even classic XXX. Check it out.

Best. Movie. Ever.
A real cult classic, totally under the radar masterpiece of resistance
You're so pussy! Only classic movie, come on! Show some modern films!
this movie sucked but it was kind of interesting. I wanted to see thier take of the human head soccer game the azteks used to play but they just decided to make it a cheap murder scene.
No. And not Grave of the Fireflies either. Fuck off, weeb.
And La Blue Girl and Fist of the North Star and Eiken and Lucky Star! Kawaiiii, amirite senpai-san?!
Didn't like Porco Rosso very much. Nausica was was a good adventure. Howl had some great imagery. Laputa was decent.
But Totoro and Spirited Away are better. They appear to be children's films, but they're really about the universals of childhood.
Lost Highway is great. Eraserhead is unwatchable
Spirited away really kind of grew on me. It's not a ground-breaking film, but it's immensely well crafted.
And I can see Porco Rosso being fun, but I never really connected with it.
The ending was about not being afraid to smash the machinery of capitalism, that it's not all death and doom and despair like the capitalists would have you believe. There is life -- and lots of it -- beyond capitalism, as evidenced by the polar bear.
Probably 2. 2>4>1>3.
1 did a really great job at show not tell, character development, and setting the foundation for the next two. 4 started to stray from the expected, and from what I know, it continues to do so from then on. Still really well rounded, just different. I heard someone say "JoJo part 4 is the only anime that starts out slice of life and has the villain wishing it'd go back by the end."
Yeah, but two kids with no experience trapped in an arctic hell doesn't sound like a very hopeful scenario. If anything I think it encourages belief in the system- it might not have been perfect in the train, but it was better than the outside. I can see where you're coming from, but I think that it encourages belief in the system, or wants to stress that there's a time for everything, and that group moved too early. If they'd waited a few more years, they'd have had a much better shot at survival outside.
Yeah we get the joke like when the other guys made it. Its funnier on a nonporn board tho
I didn't mind the first half, I was more behind the character than the film itself and then it felt as though it wasn't ever really going to come to a conclusion..
also whoever mentioned chinatown if you're the same faggot that made me sit through that I hope you burn in hell. I guessed everything after the characters were introduced then sat watching nonsense play out for 2 hours.. FUCK
Dead man is a bit self-consciously artfart tho a great film. My favorite Johnny Depp. I think its one of the most realistic western ever made.
Have a Harold n Maude
this austin power's movies always had me giggle
Superb drama right here. Modern classic
I threw out about a half dozen recommendations. Here's my last- a date movie from France (You will be fucking afterwards) Its considered bourgeois in France tho you may find yourself haunted by it
can we swap this wannabe the coolest hipster thread into a god tier comedy movie thread
>thinking having a good taste in comedy is plebian
top kek good sir
lot of children here so i guess if you haven't seen the man with no name trilogy you should (fist full of dollars, few dollars more, good bad n ugly)
im a child too, gonna watch the eiger sanction now
Get rekt, shitlord
Good comedy looks like Horse Feathers or Young Frankenstein or Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex (But Were Afraid to Ask) or even Peter Sellers' The Party. But then, I suspect you're more an Adam Sandler kind of guy.
Adam sandler got some ok movies but most are just money grabbing shit, but thanks for the suggestion my man, will watch.
Also I suggest you to stop being such a faglord
Every Lord of The Rings.
el topo is good, that film is not (but it is funny)
