Ive been in the US my whole life. Question to people in different countries, is everything about money there? The only thing I can think of doing right now that doesnt cost money is riding my bike on a shitty trail, but id still have to drive to get there or spend another hour riding there dodging the psychotic drivers on a bicycle.

It's sad but true, and it's only getting worse. It's bad enough I've considered moving to another country.

I'm a pretty normal guy. 5'11". 140 ish pounds. Thin, muscular. I run a lot, lift a lot, in fact most of my life I've struggled to gain weight. The reason for this is because I am allergic to some foods that prevent me from eating extremely unhealthy.

Every day I look around me and see the "average" american and it makes me sick. Most people are what other countries would consider "obese", but over here, they aren't "obese" until they're morbidly obese.

The biggest change has been in the last 20 years. When I was a kid, there were some chubby kids and adults, but for the most part everyone was pretty fit. Even the chubby kids found their place in football teams or other sport, and then they grew into young adults who were just big, muscular dudes instead of big, fat dudes.

Now, our culture promotes being obese. You can't turn on the TV or Facebook without some asshole telling you to accept obesity and be proud of it. People are trying to re-shape minds about obesity, telling people to be proud of it when they don't understand the long term effects.

Two of the biggest culprits are sugar and dairy. Sugar is literally in everything we eat from condiments to bread to burgers you name it. Dairy and cheese is heralded as some kind of next coming of jesus - the more cheese you eat, the "cooler" dude you are. Heh heh, duuuuude, I totally melted a whole block of cheese on my burger last night! duuuuuude!

The dairy industry spent a LOT of money over the last few decades on marketing because they had an overstock of cheese and the only way to get rid of it was to convince people that cheese was the next fad. That fad has stuck, and now people are obese.

Real conversation I had last week with my overweight friend when we're at the gym:

I know I'm thin, which is why I stated that. Trust me, being 140 ish isn't my end goal. I said muscular because most people think i'm 160+ when they guess just due to muscle on my figure. So in comparison to obese people, yeah.

I grew up with a bunch of health conditions and used to weigh like 105lb at like 18 years old. Around 21 I weighed like 110.

No joke. But one day I decided I was fucking sick of the way I looked and health conditions or not, I was going to get as big as I can for my own self confidence.

Bulking has been a long road cuz I can't eat dairy, or tree nuts without dying (deathly allergic) and that limits a fuck load of bulking food. I have some other allergies and stomach issues that prevent me from eating some other stuff too.

So for me, I've made tremendous progress. It only continues to get easier. Every 10 pounds is easier and easier for me.
