Hey /b/ros I just found an antique French lighter from 1082.

The stories and information posted here are artistic works of fiction and falsehood.
Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.

I have no idea op. But it's gotta be worth some serious bank. It's an antique. Even a museum would probably buy it from you.

Worth looking into op.

you win /b/ for today

That's what I was thinking. I just want to know a general idea of price so museum doesn't rip me off.
Also there's this word on the other side. Anybody speak old French that could translate what it means?

hey guy, mike from american pickers here.
i'll give you $2,000 for that. but you've got to let me stick 3 of my fingers into your anus in addition to the money.
>>
>>720925270
I believe that it roughly translates into "where fire/heat comes from" but you know how French is. They words for things that we do not.

I'd take it to an antiques store op.
Someone working there will know a hell of a lot more about its true value. Unless you come across some antique dealer on here.

Good luck op. Don't get ripped off. It's worth more than $2000. >>720925611

>>720924919
1082? This could mean that fire was discovered before the 19th century by liberal democrat African Americans (as currently taught in schools today)

Used some of my special equipment to enlarge the text that was inscribed on the sides. unfortunately the years haven't been kind, as most of it is illegible.

Don't try and use it, as it will likely crumble and fall apart.
>>
>>720925711
May I ask where you studied old French? If I talk to an expert I want to source credible information.

Also there are some numbers and letters inscribed on the bottom, around what seems to be some kind of key hole. I'm starting to think this isn't a lighter at all.

You're mistaken sir, Op's lighter is incredibly old and rare.. if you cannot see and appreciate that, then be gone with you.

try to open the lighter
there could be something cool inside it

It's too bad French is a dead language. Arabic is commonly used in France today.
>>
>>720925270
Old french here, BiC is an ancient pagan godess of fire and hospitality, so it's probably some lithurgic artefact

Kek, obviously you know nothing about handling antiques. He needs to take it to a lab, like Planned Parenthood or LensCrafters.

It still has some dirt left from when you dug it up op.

I wouldn't try to clean it. It may corrode or fall apart.

I'm thinking it's important to something op. Some sort of key or puzzle piece.

Help op find out the answer to this mystery.

This. The patina is beautiful.

Would some kind anon post the bic on a bic on a bic... pic.

Holy shit! Mine is from 1102! France as well!
How did such a thing end up on sale with the rest of the Bic lighters? I hit the jackpot!

Anon who knows how to etch. Impressive.

It's the next step to solving this mystery op. Keep playing with the device untill more happens.

You could have something very powerful in your hands. Be carful lad.
>>
>>720928589
That's the company that produces these types of lighter. Among other things.
Could explain a few of those strange markings you found.
They've been around a very long time too. So we're lucky, me and OP. Finding the antique french ones and all.

Historiast here. In olden times France they mostly spoke Latin. Bic is likely a corruption of the Latin 'bich', meaning 'generosity'. I theorize that this device was most likely offered to the French god Le Garliq in hopes of gaining a generous harvest of garlic and onions.

The figure to the left of the word is probably a depiction of Le Garliq, who was said to have the body of a man and the head of a negro.

No anon. You don't understand. Ops treasure isn't in fact a lighter. It has deeper meaning. It's a puzzle piece or a key. Maybe a message from a prophet.

What you have is a plain ol lighter from tesco.
>>
>>720929133
What's tesco?
Mine says France 1102 on it. It's gotta be a later model of what OP has.
Plain lighters say USA on them. Fucking USA lighters. Made like shit by shit for shit with shit.
>>
Historiast here. Holy shit guys, I don't know how he got it but the Indian guy who runs my local corner store has a whole stash of these things on sale for dirt cheap. Stupid currymuncher probably found them at the bottom of some poo pit in India and has no idea of their value: they look like possibly the best preserved examples of goods traded in the ancient Indo-French trade caravans. Going to buy them all up before some other history expert comes along and recognizes this huge find.

You

A
Lighter.

Op has the key to the universe.
>>
>>720930268
Maybe my key to the universe doubles as a lighter. Because it's the 1102 model. Instead of that gay ass 1082.
>>
>>720929620
Historiast and Futureologist here again.
Guys this shit is getting weird...I was so excited by this post I needed to have a smoke and calm my nerves. I lit up and then I noticed...the lighter was an EXACT replica of the one in OP's post EXCEPT it said "Made in Spain 2102". Is this some sort of highly elaborate hoax, or is it possible that the ancient French had time travelling and portal technology? The technology behind this thing looks like it could only really have been produced by the Future French, and yet there is an exact copy from olden times.

Fuck the thread. I'm going to get to the bottom of these ancient/futuristic artifacts. This is exactly like the De Vinci Code all over again, except with lighters instead of an elder scroll or whatever.
>>
>>720931483
I have one from the future here too.
USA, 3092.
Left to assume the USA manages global domination at some point. Because it's supposed to say France.
>>
Lighter holder here. Shit's getting weird. I'll post once I'm safe.
