>>720692460
That stardust sidequest was bullshit though. All you got was a hidden boss that was either impossible or ridiculously easy depending on what gear you had, you didn't really even get anything worthwhile for winning I don't think.

Help me finding a game, it was on Snes, you were a ninja fighting some aliens or something, i don't remember anything but one level was named elevator of time or something like that
>>720693824
You're damn right. You ever play Second Sight? Less awesome gameplay, but a better story.
>>720693693
>you didn't really even get anything worthwhile for winning I don't think
This is pretty much the same in every RPG though. Secret/hidden boss, unlockable only by doing a difficult/lengthy series of quests and item farming/gathering. Difficult boss fight, results in being given items that aren't any more valuable/better stats-wise than what you already have. Look at Ruby or Emerald Weapon in FF7. You get items for beating them that give you stuff that you will almost 100% likely already have/need in order to beat the bosses in the first place.
>>720692796
Vaguely remember playing this a long ass time ago. I think I got stuck at a save point before a boss that didn't let me backtrack to do any grinding, so being underleveled as I was pretty much made it impossible to progress. Sort of like that boss in FF Tactics. I think I wound up just getting pissed and sold it rather than start all over.

>>720693972
You do make a good point, especially about the hidden bosses in FF7, but at least in most other games you usually get like a game-breakingly strong weapon or armor or something. You literally got nothing from that fight except for the experience points and a trivial amount of gold though.
Didn't you at least get something decent from Emerald Weapon though? I remember Ruby only gave you a gold chocobo which kinda sucked because most of us had entire stables full of the things by that point, but if I recall correctly defeating Emerald gave you one of each master materia which was way more useful if you lost the one in the space ship like I did.
>>720694426
Shiiiiiit son. Loved that game growing up, I really can't keep track of how long I spent on it on the demo version alone. Shit got hard as fuck.
Hours and hours exploring the solar system over countless nights during summer vacation. The hum of the computer's fan was the only noise in the quiet house, and that would let me immerse myself in far away places and galaxies.

>>720694705
Lol I kept trying to shoot Gia at the beginning cause she was annoying as fuck and she'd always blast me away.
>>720694563
The Earth Harp Emerald Weapon drops gives you a set of Master materia - command, magic and summon I think. Which is nice, but like I said, chances are you already have a full set (at least) before fighting it.
>you usually get like a game-breakingly strong weapon or armor or something
Yeah true, but the thing is most of the hidden bosses tend to be more powerful than any other enemy in the game. So what's the point in getting a game-breakingly strong weapon/armor - by that point, if you're able to kill the superboss you're able to beat the final boss/any other enemies no problem.
In FFX-2, Trema is RIDICULOUSLY powerful and hard to beat, requiring the bets gear and tactics. If you can beat him, you can almost literally one-shot the final boss. So again, pointless. Superbosses only exist for the bragging rights for beating them

>>720695698
One Friday night my mom went to Blockbuster to rent some movies and thought she would surprise me with a game. She had no idea what she was doing and I suspect she picked it up based on the name alone. She rented this, and brought it home. Being the 11 year old spoiled ass shitlord I was at the time, acted kind of shitty about it because it didn't look like anything I would enjoy based on cover art of the cartridge. I ended up trying it out since I was bored af anyway and holy fuck it was amazing. Bought it the day it had to be returned. That game and my Mom's random gesture of kindness stick out as a highlight of my young life. She ended up dying of cancer a couple years after that. I miss her.
>>720691728
Played it. That one sucks though the original is wayyy better.
>>720696201
Lunar 1 had one of my favourite game lines. "Why do you want a dragon diamond, don't you know it's my shi--- never mind."
>>720696201
Was this one and Lunar Silver Star Story the games where the collector's editions had a cloth map and a soundtrack and all sorts of cool shit?

>>720696387

used to play this in the arcade it was the best times now that I think of it, still arcades are awesome used to use this clich with kim in kof I almost got lynched but mom came and saved the day, also killer instinct.
>>720696590
Yeah man, those are the ones. Their Omake boxes or however the hell they typed it. They were amazing games at the time, I'd imagine they feel a bit dated now. My buddy and I discovered that if you had a second controller plugged in, that it could move in combat menus, so we each took control of a couple characters and played "co op"

>>720696556

>>720695207
Used to rent it like once a week whenever my parents brought me into the movie rental place near us. Forgot about it and remembered it one night. Spent like 30 minutes googling details I could remember. Downloaded the rom and played it again. The story is fucking asinine. The game play however is pretty fun.
>>720696963
I found this one at a pawn shop for 2 bucks. I saw that Working Designs developed it as well and it reminded me of the Lunar games. Were they good enough games to track down either via actual ps1 discs or emulators? I miss old rpgs.
Weird War, anyone played it?
