Half-Life 2 was a big disappointment, but the real kicker is just how awesome this game clearly thought itself was.

The gravity gun is a stupid gimmick and they had to design pretty much all the levels around it.

Alyx is a cloyingly annoying programmer's sexual fantasy. Do you know a single real life woman is even remotely like this?

DOG is a classic untrained screenwriter's mistake. He is so ludicrously overpowered compared to the other characters that they keep having to write him out of events. Not only that, but if the resistance have access to this kind of sentient one-man army, and can in theory make more DOGs, why do they need Gordon?

The outdoor sections - and there are a lot of them - looked completely ridiculous. Fake polygony trees, fake polygony hills, fake polygony grass.

The AI for the human rebels is so terrible that it actually yanks you out the game.

Don't know why but it just didn't feel like the other games for some reason.
There were some cool bosses like pontiff sulyvahn and the princes but it just didn't give me the same feeling as dark souls 1 or 2 or demon's souls and bloodborne.
