where they fucking failed was not also regulating insurance companies on rate increases. monthly premiums have shot up because now insurance companies are required to cover people with all kinds of fucked up diseases, and because they can't turn these people down, they have to pull in more money from other people paying premiums.

health insurance is a fucking stupid system anyway, we need to either be a no-insurance system, and people can negotiate price directly with healthcare and pharma providers (people will just have HSAs and either save for catastrophic injuries or die on the table/hope the doctor will eat the costs like they were doing before), or we need to go to a single payor system. this half-ass, in-the-middle system is worse than either of the two.

the only thing the ACA has done is give insurance companies a license to print money because now all americans are required to buy it, but insurance companies set whatever premiums they want.
