Trump is a piece of shit, but I was happy that he won. He's done well making money for himself (he has) and ran an incredibly effective campaign, but will ultimately be a terrible leader. Half of the country already despises him.

I was happy he won because the liberal smug had gotten too much for me to handle. I live in NYC, make good money, and so do all of my friends. They are so fucking sanctimonious and simultaneously out of touch. Their white guilt, male guilt, etc. is nauseating, but they don't think twice about looking down on the downtrodden who lie outside their narrow concepts of misadvantage. "Saying you like him because your factory moved over seas and he promises you jobs is just a roundabout way of saying that your are racist." These people were the loudest Clinton supporters.

Maybe if I lived elsewhere I would have been exposed to terrible Trump supporters, I don't know. But the air of superiority that surrounded Clinton's campaign, along with the idea that I should vote for her simply BECAUSE she was a woman, really turned me off. I anticipate being privately embarrassed by my satisfaction (although I voted third party, to be fair), but my hope is that Executive powers get pulled back to pre-Obama levels, and the Legislative/Judiciary branches can keep the country running as normal. I do think there is a fair level of hysteria at this point, which only furthered my initial and growing distaste for the modern left.
