Cringe bread time
Nothing personnel, kid.
I am a historian who specialises in the subject of medieval edged weapons.
Research papers I've published have been printed in peer-reviewed academic journals.
I've handled 1000-year-old viking swords, cataloguing the details of the construction.
I'm on first-name terms with the curatorial staff of half the world's major museums.
... but its photos like these which are why I refuse, outright, to ever be photographed holding a sword. I dont think its possible to be photographed with one without looking like an utterly pathetic fucktard.
spent many years doing HEMA, particularly German longsword (Ringeck), but also Italian Rapier (Ghisliero and Di Griassi), a little sword and buckler (i.33) and a fair bit of sidesword (William Hope), plus some modern sport fencing, and a tiny bit of Kendo, though I dont do much with oriental arms.
So, yes, I know how to use 'em - you need to study that to understand better the design intent of the originals. Imagine being an academic writing about racing cars, if you couldnt drive?
Even with all that, though, I'm still certain its not possible to take a static, posed photo without looking like a total mongoloid perma-virgin.
Is this a cringe or gore thread?
Met a blacksmith in a little village in Irkutsk when I was there a couple years ago who made swords/bucklers/small melee weapons.
Dude was a fuckin boss. All the girls swooned over him, and he was cool as hell. Sword looked natural in his hand. Russian-Swedish though...
Having fun without giving a fuck about others opinions is cringe apparently. Its only cringe if he thinks he looks cool. So without the subject's perspective of what's going on. this isnt cringe.
>1/3 of the people in that photo have never had sex
>1/3 of the people in that photo never will have sex
>1/3 of the people in that photo never have and never will know romantic love
>1/3 of the people in that photo have no dreams, no hope, and they shouldn't
>only 2 people in that photo are employed
>only 2 people in that photo get out of bed before 2:00pm
>only 2 people in that photo are within 24 hours of taking a shower
>the list is endless
...I think I know which is more cringeworthy.
