Trump threatened car companies with big taxes.

Literally throwing a fit about what parts of capitalism he wants.

Last time i checked tou couldn't pick and chose what you like about freedom. This is literally a SJW way of dealing with problems.

Fuck ford how about paying that virtually free bailout back faggots? How about taking a 15 year loan where the interest rate is actually higher than the rate of inflation you faggot ass company
>>
This would have happened regardless. The taxes are not and have not ever been the problem. The public eye was brought to large companies by criticisms from both Trump and Bernie are what scare companies like this. The problem is trump trades tax breaks for companies to stay. The American consumer is as much the problem as the companies. Blind Cheap consumerism is what leads to companies moving. If you don't like companies leaving, then don't buy from them.
>>
Short sighted idiots will applaud loudly and try to throw it your face if you so much as disagree with Trump about anything.

This is not how free markets work.
>>
>>717584969
I think ford was one of the only companies that did not take a bailout.

Why are we trying to save Michigan?
>>
>>717585707
Does ANYONE in that picture look like they deserve work? They all look old and burnt out as fuck. congrats, you kept a group of people working who have the collective IQ of 7 1/2
>>
>>717585266
Well taxes are a problem for them, in a sense. Whether they are justified or not, taxes, regulations, and minimum wage laws are what drives companies out of western countries. If we raised corporate taxes higher, then it makes it harder for them to stay here, plain and simple. Again, that is not to say that they should have no taxes, only that it is indeed a factor.
>>
>>717585873
I live in Michigan.
It's beyond saving.
Our economy was based on Copper and Cars.
Neither of which are a product we produce anymore.
>>

If they build a new plant in Michigan, it will keep the building trades busy for a whopping year.
Then you'll put a couple hundred more to work making the cars.
Whoop-de-fucking-do.
Too little too late.
You can't bring back manufacturing jobs that don't exist due to automation,
>>
>>717586530

>jobs that don't exist due to automation
>implying cars are magically put together with little to no human intervention
>being this retarded
>>
>>717586601
You've never seen the inside of these factories before, have you?

There is little human interaction with the newer assembly lines.
>>
>>717586759

>little human intervention

What are you even talking about faggot. Is this fun for you? Going on /b/ to say complete nonsense?
>>
>>717586530
Automation has nothing to do with it. There are still operators, safety crews, janitors, sales reps, receptionists, administrators, floor workers, dock workers, quality control inspectors, plant engineers, cafeteria staff, security... have you ever been to a factory not run by Willy Wonka?
>>
>>717586334
>>>717584197 (OP)
I think he looks a right arrogant cunt
>>
>>717586870
I've been involved with building these plants.
When one came to town, it used to mean thousands of jobs.
Now, it means hundreds.
They get massive tax breaks to build in specific areas under the expectation that they'll put the city to work.
Instead, they put a few to work and rake in the cash.
>>
>>717586900
Again. A couple hundred jobs.
Hardly the massive job influx it used to be.
>>
>>717587129
In shift work, you're probably looking at 1000 jobs for one factory.

Not to mention the further thousands that building the factory will create.
>>
>>717587129
Like I said, you'd keep the building trades busy for a year to put it in.
Brickies, Tinners, Sparkies, Fitters, etc.

And that couple hundred was counting shifts.
>>
>>717584798
>>717584726
so out of touch...
>>
>>717587129
So? even if that was the case its better to keep all production and industrialization on the US
>>
A lot of plants aren't even running shifts right now, because with wages so suppressed and interest rates inflating, people aren't buying new vehicles to keep up with current production.
Even a low end new car costs more than an average years wage.
>>
>>717587832
Agreed.
But it needs to stop being hauled out as an example of a massive job saving victory.
It's not massive.
It's pathetic.
>>
>>717587862
>Even a low end new car costs more than an average years wage.

I'm curious if the average is actually a lot lower than I thought it was, or if you have no idea what a low end new car actually costs.
>>
>>717586048
But let's not pretend that with reasonable business models that aren't reliant on constant growth that a company could be reasonably asked to pay its share of taxes.
>>
>>717585266
I'm a seamster rendered unemployed by industrial clothing production, want to buy my 100 dollar trousers?

>>717588096
you are right. But the manner in which consumers treat companies who leave the states is also largely a problem. Taxes of course may cause a company to leave, but why would accompany leave for a country with lower taxes if they knew that they would be losing customers?
>>
>>717584726
Capitalism is a broad umbrella. When did Trump say he was all for complete Lesse Fair capitalism?
>>
>>717588314
Because when they started moving production outside the country under NAFTA, it was being heralded as the new dawn of international trade.
It didn't become a massive deal until people realized that we were getting the shaft a decade or so later.
>>
>>717587979

>>
>>717588571
you misspelled "customer and trading partner"
>>
>>717588513
Also true. But there were plenty of people who were talking on the potential negatives at its onset.
>>
>>717588571
Actually, the mentality that made the US a sucker to China was, "We're too good for manual labor. We shouldn't be making this shit. We should be buying it!"

From being told all our lives that we were too good to be doing grunt work for an honest wage.
>>
>>717588108

It's the "instant gratification" mentality of our country. I agree, it's harder to think critically and do actually research than it is to glue yourself to the tv. But people do know how the media is, trust is at an all time low for news media networks, yet people still watch. So it's not simply the media lies or portrays things in certain lights.

Trump was saying that the Dems heavily manipulate stats to make their destructive policies seem to be beneficial.
>>
I'm a socialist with heavy Communist leanings. I voted for Hillary Clinton and I love this. Not even Sanders could have centralized so much power to control corrupt capitolists. Big governement will save us from ourselves. If he institutes libel laws and controls all media in the country American will be great like China like Russia used to be. After he manhandled capitolists he striped the power from our representatives. Not even president and forcing the hand of our corrupt senate and house. Donald Trump is the best thing to happen to Democrats in decades. He gives the president the power they need to control our country and if he fucks up Republicans get blamed. Democrats still get to keep all that big government power.

Part and partial why American car companies can compete with Korea and Japan which enjoys higher infrastructure efficiencies is because some part and at times final assembly enjoy low wage benefits from making shit in Mexico.
