Why do people take fentanyl when it's known to kill so many people?
>>
>>717565173
Stop spreading awareness fagget. Its meant to kill people. Population control, basic school textbook shit.
>>
>>717565316
Why would dealers kill their customers?
>>
The majority of people who take it aren't aware that they're doing so - for some reason it's being cut in to random street drugs at a ridiculous rate. It's extremely potent and impossible to measure for the highschool dropout drug dealers. When a batch of a more innocuous drug that's been cut poorly arrives in a town, it usually leads to a big string of OD deaths at no fault off the consumer.
>>
>>717565173
I fucking swear these random xanax I bought a while back must have some fentanyl in it, I'll take a tiny tiny tiny amount and feel it way harder than any other legit prescription benzos I've ever eaten
>>
>>717565668
I live in Canada and recently it's been all over the news like hundreds of people are dying in BC from this stuff.
>>
>>717565316
I remember when I was this edgy
>>
Its usually mixed in heroin or sold as heroin
and a shot of fentanyl is much more potent than heroin.
>>
>>717566087
Here in Hamilton it's being mixed into cocaine which has led to some ODs
>>
>>717566271
Does it even get u high?
>>
>>717565173
I wanna die but I'm not super focused on doing it right now.
>>
>>717565173
Because humans are fucking idiots
>>
Opioids are nice and highly addictive
>>
>>717566571
>Cutting stimulants with extremely powerful opiates

lol what the fuck

I get cutting xanax or heroin with it because at least they are all downers, but cocaine? What the hell is wrong with drug dealers? This some new government ops to murder poor drug addicts?
>>
>>717565173
It doesn't kill many compared to booze and nicotine. Check morbidity and mortality counts for lulz.
>>
>>717565173
it gets you high as fuck you ignorant retard
>>
>>717565629
Because if some dumb nigga od on the shit then it creates a demand for the product
"oh shit this is the stuff that killed Tyrrell. Let me get some of that"
>>
>>717567450
Fentanyl is a pain killer specifically designed for end-stage cancer pain relief. It used to be, and I think still is. specifically only prescribed to people with terminal cancer.
>>
>>717565668
It's because you can get it cheap from China and it increases sales as the other ppl od
>>
>>717565316
Not very edgy myself, but I tend to agree. The weak minded and weak willed will continue to use hard drugs no matter the method of prevention. Allow the shit stains of humanity to use this shit and ban medical response for OD. You want to use, go ahead. Your on your own.
>>
>>717569505
>"Not very edgy myself"
>*proceeds to articulate edgy high school libertarian-tier cringey point of view*
>>
>>717568001
Idk but cops here have radio commercials advising people against using cocaine and heroin because of the chance they're laced
>>
>>717565173
Why do people drink alcohol?

>Just makes you stupid and is highly toxic.
>>
>>717568211
What a retarded post. More people use booze you moron, those stats are incomparable.
In 2016 622 people died in British Columbia, a province of 4.6million people, from fentanyl overdose. More than alcohol and tobacco related deaths combined.

Why should I care more about someone's life more than they do? Why should society pay for their choices? Don't waste resources on locking them up or issuing medical care.
>>
>>717570071
Because it's a public health issue and people who do drugs don't necessarily deserve to die
>>
>>717568558
No it isn't. Doctors prescribe this for lots of different reasons now. I work in a long term care pharmacy.

Side note, we had a patient that would take his patch off after the lazy idiot nurses would apply it, then he'd eat them lol
>>
>>717570071
A lot of people dying aren't addicts though. Just people who made a poor decision and experimented with a drug that was laced
>>
>>717570071
Addiction is a result of a combination of social isolation, a sense of powerlessness and undiagnosed mental health issues, all three of which are nearly always connected to unbearable life circumstances. You place the blame squarely on the shoulders of the addict, as thought it were some form of personal failing of character, which is flatly untrue for most addicts.

Once again, you sound like an edgy autistic high school faggot who has no idea what they are talking about. You've probably been handed everything in your life and feel entitled to it to such a degree you've forgotten that none of it was guaranteed.

Were it not for the lottery of the womb you'd be that strung out bum on the street and he'd be turning his nose up at you because obviously you're just degenerate scum. The logic you use is circular, we know addicts are scum because they are addicts, and why are they addicts? Because they are scum. Even an edgy piece of shit like you can hopefully see how that does not compute.
>>
>>717570190
Asthma is a public health issue. Dosing yourself with this shit, fuck no.
>>
>>717570617
Asthma isn't a public health issue though. Air pollution maybe but not asthma.
>>
>>717570449
You couldn't be more wrong. I grew up in a poor family in Detroit. I wasn't handed shit. I saw it all going on around me. Do you have any more university regurgitation for me?
>>
>>717570961
You mean facts? I won't waste them on you because you clearly don't care about them.
>>
>>717570961
American anti-intellectualism is the cringiest fringe movement
>>
>>717570961
Well that explains why you're so stupid then you dumb nigger
>>
>>717571005
You mean those facts about my life that you already had figured out?
>>
>>717569976
drop seat
>>
>>717571005
I also grew up in a family that had drug issues, and saw lots of friends OD after battling addiction. You are flat out wrong. People like you gave them excuses they latched onto to provide them mental justification to avoid seeking treatment. The only thing I've ever seen work is when everyone this person knew flat out refused to deal with them any more. It forced the person to reevaluate the decisions they've made in their life, and it pushed him to seek recovery help.

People like you only help the problem fester
>>
>>717571158
From where I came from to $150k+ a year? I'll take that level of stupidity.
>>
>>717571250
Irrelevant to the factual points about addiction I made, and you're still an edgy faggot even if your reasons for being one are different than what I originally thought. Once again, logic isn't a strong area of yours.

>>717571298
>"Anecdotes"

Whoopty do. Doesn't make my points invalid, and its not like I was talking about individual addicts anyway. Obviously if you have a friend or family member who is an addict doing an intervention and stopping enabling them is the right course of action. That, however, is not a model for dealing with the issue of addiction on a wide scale.

The thing that keeps people from seeking help is stigma and a lack of resources available. Decreasing stigma and making it easier for people to get the help they need is objectively the best way to help deal with this.

Make a point that's relevant next time.
>>
>>717571731
How do you not see that giving them excuses is absolutely enabling their behavior?

"Aww it's ok johnny, it's not your fault you decided to inject yourself with heroine, get behind the wheel of a car, then crash into a car full of kids, killing them in the process. It's genetics! It's out of your control! It's not your fault!"
>>
>>717571942
>>717571731
Because his sociology prof said so.
>>
>>717571731
I feel like the people that make arguments like this have never actually worked or dealt with actual addicts. Try working in a retail pharmacy in a bad part of town sometime, I'm sure you'll change your tune when you have a gun pointed in your face.
>>
>>717571942
You seem to have confused fully understanding addiction and its root causes and seeking to enact policies that will decrease addiction and its impacts on society with enabling individual addicts. Its an easy mistake to make when you're literally a pants-shitting retard so I forgive you.

I'd rather be correct about the issues being discussed than pat myself on the back for not ending up on hard drugs like an petty insecure bitch, but of course truth is overrated right?
>>
>>717572087
>>717572019
Not actual arguments, proves nothing but that you're unwilling to accept facts.
>>
>>717572193
You aren't correct though. You have never dealt with people like this, it's pretty obvious.
>>
>>717572289
You keep saying that like its an actual point but it isn't. Do I need to get stabbed by a meth-head to understand the facts about addiction? Is that what you're literally arguing? Because you'd be literally wrong.
>>
>>717572238
Well, you can't claim facts without sources. I need some reading material.
>>
>>717572289
>>717572399
Also I have been around plenty of addicts, but once again this is besides the point. It doesn't change anything about whats being discussed and if you idiots can't see that then you need a basic class in logic. Your premises and conclusions are all fucked up and I'm getting tired of pointing this out to you dense cunts.
>>
>>717570449
word
>>
>>717572238
Having all the points in the world might put you on the moral high ground, but lacking nuance of a situation means that your points will go ignored.

Hardline kids like you are never liked... not by addicts, or those trying to help addicts.Stop looking for proof, go out in the world, fuck up a little bit, and learn some compassion.
>>
>>717570190
It's NOT a "public health issue", it's a choice by the individual.

Public health issues are dirty water pipes, a flu going around, the cut-rate Chinese place down the street making people sick, factories upriver dumping waste into said river, that kinda thing...

Someone opting (that means CHOOSING) to stick a needle in their arm is NOT a "public health issue"....

They don't "deserve to die", necessarily... But if they end up killing themselves because they sucked up some fentanyl in their heroin, then so fucking be it. I have no patience and no sympathy for the bad choices idiots make...
>>
>>717572399
You live in a bubble, and you have zero clue what leads to these problems, and why the only thing we can really do is hold them personally accountable for the crimes they commit. No amount of hand holding or social programs will fix the issue. Leave the college campus you've locked yourself in and experience these problems first hand in the real world. You really don't know shit about what you're talking about.

>>

What

Being factually correct doesn't put me on the moral high ground, it makes me correct where others are incorrect. But thanks for admitting you're going to ignore me anyway because you're fucking stupid.
>>717572633
Ok thanks for proving me right, you're thickheaded and don't care about facts
>>
>>717570449
If addiction is a result of all of that, then why am I not addicted to anything?

Stop trying to find some esoteric boogeyman and stick the blame where it lies; on the USER... The person who CHOSE to stick the needle in their arm... The person who decided to give it a go and ended up addicted to it...

I know plenty of people who were raised in alcoholic homes, who are NOT alcoholics, and I know plenty of people who were raised in alcoholic homes who ARE alcoholics...

It's NOT "society's fault", it's THEIR fault. THEY made the bad decision, after being told throughout school time and again that drugs are bad, m'kay? We were all present... They chose to disregard the warnings; it's THEIR fault...
>>
>>717565173
because people are fucking stupid.
>>
>>717572694
Thank for the wiki, but you sarcasm only illustrates your white middle class hipster university only life experience.
>>
Why do people take marijuana when it's known to turn so many people into deadbeat losers with no future?
>>
>>717572863
Firstly, those are the root causes but that doesn't mean every person with these issues will end up a smackhead, just that most smackheads have these issues.

Secondly, your anecdotes don't prove anything. The model of addiction I am using has predictive power that outclasses your stupid dumbshit common knowledge anecdotes. Reducing harm is more important than patting ourselves on the back for finding less lethal vices to get us through life.
>>
>>717573001
Not an actual argument, I'm still right.
>>
>>717572826
I do. You're giving them justification to continue doing what they're doing. Addicts ***DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU OR THE FACT YOU'RE TRYING TO HELP THEM*** they care about how they can use you to continue chasing a feeling. They don't wise up until the consequences for these actions start piling up. You're a fucking naive bleeding heart retard that has zero life experience. I've worked in healthcare. I deal with these scumbags on a daily basis. Have you ever seen what a burned up little 6 year old girl looks like after her mom's boyfriend's meth lab explodes? Coddling people like that boyfriend is pure lunacy. Seriously, quit your job. You're doing more harm than good.
>>
>>717570198
Yep, the patches are TR so a lot of freaks pop 'em and smoke or eat the filling.

Fentanyl-flavored Pop Tarts.

Don't even get me started on the fabled fent lollipops...
>>
>>717573079
How long is your beard?
>>
>>717573001
>university only life experience.
>he thinks anti-intellectualism makes him superior
>>
>>717572863

Can't wait til you lose your job or girlfriend and smoke crack despite what they told you in school cause you don't wanna die and you can't think. Also people don't knowingly takee fentanyl. Go huff jenkem it'll make you smarter.
>>
>>717573159
Look man I can't force you to understand what I'm saying. I've already explained that I'm not talking about individual addicts. I've already explained that I'm talking about designing policies to reduce the number of horrors like that which you just described society-wide. Getting tough on drug addicts has never worked and in fact increases the number of horror stories you just described, so if anyone needs to shut the fuck up and quit their job its you, because you are literally the reason our society is failing at dealing with addiction right now. Your absolute contempt for facts is mind-boggling and infuriating and you can go fuck yourself as a result.
>>
>>717573206
About as long as your list of relevant evidence.
>>
>>717572826
And you clearly are a university kid, coming to 4chan, looking for a debate with people who A) do not care enough about this subject to muster a real argument, or B) have not had a chance to go to a university.

If you want a real debate, find a skeptic forum, take this fight to an open-minded group... or find yourself an echo chamber.

I'm really just here for the porn.
>>
>>717573428
Shit man, you really got him.
>>
>>717573428
You can't really think you are arguing with one person.
>>
>>717573479
I mean, yeah, I literally do have him defeated. He can't respond to anything I'm saying with any substantial arguments, just make petty jabs at my character (which he knows nothing about) so its pretty obvious that I'm right and he's wrong.

>>717573462
As Machiavelli once said, "arguing with these idiot peasants helps me scrape the mold from my brain."
>>
>>717573393
No amount of social programs will ever fix this problem. As I've said, they don't care about how they affect other people until the consequences of their actions start piling up. They change for selfish reasons, not because they actually care about how they've hurt others. Removing stigma just makes it easier for them to continue doing what they're doing.
>>
>>717573621
Portugal's decriminalization of all drugs and making rehab services more widely available has greatly decreased the number of ODs and impacts of drug use more generally. This proves you wrong. Social programs do have an impact and can help mitigate the harms of the problem, even if the root causes are more complicated to deal with.

As for your rant on the character of addicts, that's irrelevant, anecdotal and not an actual argument.

Amend your views because they are incorrect, or admit you don't care about being right and just want to feel good because you're "better" than addicts.
>>
>>717565316

I had a friend from my High School days get addicted to fentanyl... He'd literally score fentanyl patches, cut them open, and lick them clean... He died on his bathroom floor one day, OD from fentanyl.

Tell me again how nobody knowingly takes fentanyl.

Also, I've been in really hard situations. I still didn't resort to drug abuse... Shit, I've been to war and back, and I STILL haven't resorted to drug abuse to "cope"... Why? Because I listened in school; I know there are better alternatives than shooting some bullshit into my ballsack or smoking rocks...

Also, because I never want to be in a situation where I gotta suck a dick just to get some precious substance... I mean, it's only logical - If you don't wanna have to suck a dick for crack, then don't get addicted to crack!! And the easiest way to avoid getting addicted to crack, is by NOT USING CRACK! Amazing how that works, isn't it!?
