I Europe we are paid per month. How is your hourly salary converted in a monthly salary? How much really ends into your pocket, how much is lost to the state?
>>
>>717450653
For me personally, I take home anywhere in between 800 and 1000 a month.

Roughly 32% of my cheques go to deductions.

My hours fluctuate drastically depending on the time of year so it is fucking difficult to plan my finances.

Luckily I'm gonna be doing some under the table oddjobs for a friend and my sister to get a little more.

Just divide yours by how many Fridays there are that month and that's per week. Overall, after all of our taxes (federal, state, local, Medicare Medicaid, mandatory health insurance or fine, property, sales, luxury, vehicle, and others varying by location) we probably lose aroind half or more to the government. More of you're "rich" according to Big Brother.

I know it's a pretty ok income (even if I'm in Paris), it's just that it's pretty low for my studies (did a top end engineering school). I worked briefly in VC and was paid almost the double. The avg income after two years is around 50k.

Not going to happen in my industry. There is no contractor to replace us because of the part of the business I am in. They would have to supply their own equipment, and have such a low rate they could not pay themselves, or even for their machines. I will not even get into the amount of liability insurance they would have to carry as well.
Problem with too many is they choose careers that can easily be done outside of the offices/business. Mine cannot, and that is why I moved into it. Also I am close enough to retirement that I can say so what, and cash in my stock without a problem.
>>
>>717463022
It helps to have a background, mine was being a server at nice restaurants and then the wine guy of a growing package store...

...But you could totally join a small distributor without much experience and then really focus yourself on learning as much as possible about wines, then move up. Realistically, as long as you show up to customers every week with a decent attitude they'll start buying from you

Problem is you have to be super self motivated. I usually am, but today I chose to stay home and watch movies. VERY easy to fall into this lifestyle and get fired fast

Well that is not my problem. It is that far too many make bad choices, or choose to only stay in one part of an industry. I have been in construction my whole life, and through all of the trades. I have never been off of work more than a couple of weeks. So if people are not motivated enough to learn all they can it is their fault.
I grew up in Detroit and learned to hate the unions, and union hacks. They were full of nepotism, and cronyism. Total BS.
