Pros: Overwatch is a great fucking game, it's extremely well made and it looks great and feels great. There are tons of heroes with unique playstyles, the majority of which are fun as hell to play with. Cons: massively high skill cap means the majority of players are absolutely terrible, so if you're planning on queuing for matches solo, prepare to lose most games you play due to constantly being placed with retards. If you get placed with bad teammates and lose every game, you start at the bottom of the barrel, and it's impossible to get out because you will just be placed with bad teammates over and over.

It's honestly barely a shooter. Maps are small and linear, and your weapons are more like a collection of abilities than weapons like you're used to. There's a character who's a play on traditional shooters, with an assault rifle, and one of his powers is that he can sprint. This is one of those games where different characters having different set-in-stone mobility options is part of the game.

The idea is that you learn to play these different characters and figure out how to best apply those skills. There's no such thing as a sniper jumping on the point and taking out a heavier class through skill. The different characters are kind of rock paper scissors at times.

You are also highly dependent on your team, which frankly fosters some real salt from players, and can make it incredibly frustrating. No healer, or a shitty healer? You ded. No tank or a shitty tank? You ded.

A lot of people compare this to TF2, but having played the shit out of TF2 and having become proficient at it, I don't echo that. This game is nothing like TF2, in terms of "game feel". In TF2, you can outplay any class with any other class. In Overwatch, you can't. In TF2 you can play independently from your team and still contribute. In Overwatch, you can't. In TF2 each class can be played in several different ways. In Overwatch, they can't.

Pro's:
-Lots of different characters with different roles and abilities
-Visual design is top notch
-Matches are quick and action-packed

Cons:
-The least shooter-like shooter you'll ever play
-Simplistic maps and game modes without any real personality of their own
-You will get salty, and there's nothing you can do about it

Pro's: It's very polished, There are events that could make you go "hey that's kinda fun".
Cons: You can only win in this game. You can't play for fun or else you're trolling your team. No community support. Lootboxes are absolute cancer. Arcade is just pure shit that they don't know how to make fun in the slightest. You're pretty much forced to have certain classes. It's a 'press q 2 win'.

All the characters have different weapons, abilities and personalities which makes it really fun, the only dlc is for the box drops which aren't important so everything they add to the game is FREE! And blizzard do their best to help you if you are having technical problems.

And I guess the cons are that you can't choose the game mode and it takes a while to level up

Either way, Blizzard actually did diversity right. These characters work as characters, and not solely as another box to tick off on some SJW's checklist. The characters have a bunch of different traits that define them, and race and heritage are only a part of that. A SJW iteration of Mei would be twice her size. A SJW iteration of Lucio would be a literal 19th century black slave. Reinhardt would be Merkel, and his power would be to let in the enemy team uncontested while he locks his own in the spawn.

Just get garden warfare or some shit. That has abilities, no ults, pretty good character customization (both cosmetic and gameplay wise), the healers aren't forced, the 2 teams are very different from each other. The only downsides imo are: it's quite unbalanced, the survival multiplayer has a part pay2win and it takes long to unlock other sets which you could also buy (on top of it being a payed game).

Great game would recommend. Every character is different and fun to play but there is a lack of game modes which sucks.

I get what you mean, and if that's what you enjoy, Overwatch has it in spades. But it's an incredibly "narrow" game. You get that, but nothing else. It's obviously the way you ought to play it, but even with me coming in a few weeks later than my friends, the gap is noticable. Very few of my regular "gamer" skills apply. So as a game, it's very dependent on the players themselves having that communication.

And often I've found the more fanatical players to be annoyingly devoted, and incredibly salty and accusatory when you don't manage to read their fucking mind and do the right thing at the right time.

For me, Overwatch is just not really what I like, to be completely honest.

At the same time I appreciate there not being a grind to Overwatch. You get the game, and that's what you play. Even TF2 became a grind with all the different weapons. I only ever dropped the requisite first purchase on it, and I couldn't keep up with the newly released weapons. It's one of the things that finally made me check out of that game.

The other was, as you describe, that I realized I put 1016 hours into something with nothing to show for it. The best thing TF2 ever did for me was that I got my dick sucked while playing it, but I could have done the same bloody thing with Skyrim. I wouldn't have gotten Overwatch if I didn't have this many friends who all play it. Literally every regular friend I game with has this thing.

In the end, games are just diversions, so if you enjoy yourself, it's not really wasted time. But when you turn off the computer, games like this stop having an influence. You don't notice yourself a week later still thinking about something you did in Overwatch.

con : meta is completely dead right now. at high levels of play, you can't win without playing 3 tanks/solider/ana and another healer or even 4 tanks and ana and another healer. this is because of how overpowered ana is right now, the fact that she can full heal 4 tanks pretty much constantly makes it so that all other healers are irrelevant (apart from lucio, who is useful for pretty much only speed boost). all the fun heroes i talked about therefore have no place in high level games (genji and widow are almost useless against a tank/ana comp)
