Minimum wage: 0.59$ for an hour (22.5 times less than in Australia) Average wage: 509.9$ for a month (6.5 times less than in Australia) *and many other statistics not included*
People are gloomy, angry, stupid and conservative (and very patriotic) Free medicine is like standing in a queue for an hour to visit the doctor who knows nothing about medicine and would be glad to send you home if you haven't a bunch of bureaucratic prescriptions or so. Paid medicine is like: umm, I don't know, I don't have that kind of money
Speaking about money. The iPhone 7 cost starts at 650$ in the US (say hello to tax-free states) and 925.2$ in Russia (I was shocked) so it costs rougly as two months income of a Russian. And I didn't even take to the account that median wage in Russia is much less than average wage. Can you imagine working for two/three months just for the phone? So in Russia the iPhone is luxury item.
Excuse me for my bad English. Pic related is my view from the window.
(I'm from Saint Petersburg, the second largest city in Russia)
Please advise me a good antidepressant available in Russia :^)
it's a shame that through the media people worldwide can compare their own situation to others in other countries. the world is very divided and can't look the same and offer the same conditions to everyone everywhere. it's a slow process developing the standards of living in mst countries. depressing for the ones who want to have a better life too, I agree, but what is "a better life" ? only wealth? my wife was born in SPb too, I am Dutch, where we live now. we still have family there, I see the differences too, but her family isn't depressed or unhappy. they work hard to have a reasonably good life.
>>717191105 the Nazi sympathy kills the conversation for me, only morons promote that kinda shit. don't search in the extreme rightwing sector for answers: their philosophy only leads to hate and destruction.
I would recommend Xanax or another benzo however you will be extremely addicted and need and it makes your memory bad. But if you need it to cope go for it. Anti depressant drugs personally I find to only temporarily increase happiness then makeyou more depressed. Have you tried googling drug types friend? Canadian here
>>717190559 Hello. I am not from Russia but I am from close. Call it neighboring country if you want. I have similar economy and is very tough and depressed shit. I felt always like there is no way out and I can't change things. You have any family members? I hanged out with my cousin a lot. He seem always to get me out of shitty situation and have my back always very loyal. We would also go bowling a lot. Sometimes darts or drinking and sometimes to go see big bouncy titties. This helped my outlook on life to be better.
Also I know it is nice to have luxury items but try and appreciate the things you can have. Morning coffee/tea, walk in the park, vaginas , animals. In life you have to adapt to your situation. Envy isn't helpfull
As someone born in udssr and living in germany, tell me what are some good jobs i could take in russia? I'd love to work there for a while and since I'm like german, I have to be worth something in your economical shithole
>>717191497 Don't be afraid to use that medication when you need it but try not to use it every day. Work on finding hobbies for example working out. Do not envy north american luxurys as they are over rated anyway. At the end of the day we all fill our days the same ways.
>>717191306 my never wznted to leave her home, but we met through our work and wanted to be together. I tried to come to SPb but could find the right work (and salary) so she moved here. because she had a Masters degree, spoke English very well and learned Dutch (and German) very quickly she now has a better job and income than I do. just how life went for us.
don't concentrate on negativity, it's useless and paralyses you. find happiness in family, friends, a relationship. see your countries rich history, see the proud soul of the Russians and try to preserve that before it gets lost. don't concentrate on materialistic things: the millions will never fall out of the skye. I was depressed for a while too and although I know what I write sounds like new age hippy bullshit it did work for me to get happier.
>>717190559 Well it can be worst anon.. but hey just learn how to hack life and you'll be alright.. I mean feel good for the non material things.. like T.a.T.u music and your hot Russian girls.. maybe you're bored of your environment and need to some other countries bro.. sorry for bad English..
>>717190559 Life is not better in the west and why do you want an iPhone 7, materialistic cunt. Russia has almost no debt, while the west and the US have trillions and trillions, once the markets crash your life will be fucking cash.
Atleast you can afford your apartment on those wages. I'm living on minimum wage here in England (aboutc£1000 a month) and my tiny studio apartments rent is £575($710) a month, while your wages are the equivalent of £412($509). So I end up with £425 to spend on Bills and living costs, which are high in Leeds (the city I live in). Surpsisingly I'm not thar much better off.
>>717191931 my wife's sister and her husband live in an appartement in SPb very similar to OP's photo. he was a driver for a company's CEO, didn't earn a big salary, then started to work in his free time as (illegal) taxi, after a few years he legalised it, then started his own taxi business, now he has 8 taxis driving for him. they have a good income now and he has his iPhone. there are opportunities in your shithole, OP.
>>717192635 Partner you really aren't getting this hey? Yes it sucks. Being in prison sucks too but like it or not atleast try to enjoy something. If you stop trying you may as well Rob banks then kill urself when u get caught like my friend did
>>717192635 it's no use starting a whining thread here and when someone from a western country writes his opinion tell him " easy to say for you". what do you want to hear? your life is shit and that's sooo unfair?
>>717190559 Take into consideration the massive population of Russia. Yes your wages are low and imported goods are expensive. But applaud your country for having everyone live and notbstarve to death and have running water.
>>717190559 Also op I have a way you can make alot of money . For Christmas this year I wanted your kalisnkov vodka case but I had to import a case. You should buy the vodka and empty it out and sell the bottles on ebay. If you do this for me I will pay you alot like 100dollars plus shipping
>>717192816 I 100% guarantee you the average woman in Russia is eons hotter than the average woman in America. Obesity is not common in Russia, and being conservative, neither are tattoos, piercings or whack hair styles/colours
>>717193204 Even if so they dont happen coz of frau Merkel which invited masses of peopleto deutschland which then ended being relocated in many europe countries and that can't be check'd for their background history and identity.
>>717193452 They don't happen because there's refugees either. They happen because Europe is a popular destination for a particular jihadist group if it looks to make publicity stunts for the global stage. Or it used to. Nowadays it's typically unconnected nutjobs. They're preoccupied with their actual objective now, settling into northern Syria. Terrorism goes back further than 3 years. It didn't even take landing on the ground to drill a plane into your towers and kill 3000 of you.
>>717190559 Please post a contact email if you are willing to sell me an empty kalsihnkov vodka bottle and what you would charge. I would very much appreciate it. You'll know I'm the real guy cus I'll send a pic of my cat under my disco light that no one else hasb
While no we won't get imprisoned or shot but we can still be convicted of thought crime. I can still be locked up for not having a TV licence despite tge fact I don't own a TV (slim chance but it's still an option, they did threaten fines on their last visit) see in the West we are not free. Our leaders are better at hiding the dictorship bit. You have no real free will here. Just more distractions and shiny thing's. Like iphones.
>>717191931 this is good advice. the only problem comes when family, friends, and gf/spouse don't cheer you up enough. they make life more bearable, but you have to learn to try to cheer yourself up. but sometimes even this is not enough.
hopefully you never reach the point where nothing is enough. I am at that point and I am ashamed because I keep falling back into old patterns. keep trying to climb out. not sure what to do at this point but take it one day at a time.
>>717192635 >they prefer wealthy foreigners Honestly dude, I feel like slav chicks are misunderstood. They're pragmatic. You pride yourself on the WWII legacy that forced them to be. I find they still tend to be romantic though. Romantically idealistic even. But like many slavs they're disenchanted, but once they see a legit good thing and you are open with them about this and get past the bullshit it's different. I mean, I've had them ask me for a green card marriage (Euro, not US) sure. I always make it clear I can show them a good time or help them out, just as a friend, but I'm not going to put up a sham relationship. I swept those bartering chips off the table, leveled the playing field. Its yielded me some genuine, memorable relationships.
At the end of the day they weren't that different to be honest, beyond being very into tradition. Marriage, kids by their mid twenties, that sorta thing. Gets pounded into them from early childhood on, along with expert makeup techniques. I swear to god they're all visagists.
>>717195072 If they had pride they'd expel the incumbent. Most of their economic woes right now are because of sanctions Putin imposes. They don't really affect the outside world. He just wants them in poverty in misery so they will look up to a messiah - himself, of course. "Patriotism" is blindly agreeing with him on everything he says, and ratting out your neighbors if they criticize them on Facebook so they can be hauled off.
>>717190559 wage is a little irrelevant without cost of living, even the united states there is huge disparity from region to region. the cost of renting a shoebox in some of the coastal cities here is enough to be living like a king and making payments on a mansion in other areas.
>>717194668 as far as i've seen that is not common anywhere. the idiots just have different proclivities in one place or another. some places it's general degeneracy, meth and sister fucking, others it's prattling on about diversity, socialism, and their useless college degree or everything in between. it's hard to find someone with both a head on their shoulders and the inclination to use it.
>>717195209 The poverty is a shame yes, and patriotism isn't agreeing with him on everything
Patriotism is being proud of your country and it's people and what it stands for. Say it's blind, even though you're wrong. But patriotism and pride for your people and country keeps some people going. It gives them motivation to work and try because they want to be the best they can be to make their country proud.
Take a look at Germany. You get fucking arrested for being a patriot. The morale is pathetic and they are now a weak cuck country.
american here. anyone here who doesnt make at least 4,000/mo is basically poor. i make like 2,400 and that is literally just enough to live in a 1 bedroom alone, keep my car running and legal, and pay for food, gas, and phone
>>717195520 No that's *your* definition of patriotism. Which I would agree with actually. When I criticize Russia's interpretation of "patriotism" it's not because I want the Russian people to fail. If anything I feel their legacy has been stolen from them (again) by incidentally the same fucking people. Not even the same org, literally the same individuals.
So while we're talking about conspiracy around FEMA camps in the west, in Russia people are being hauled to prison on a conveyor belt because they insult Putin on their FB profile and a "patriot" decided to call it in.
>>717195621 This. I make 1200/month and between rent and the cell phone and car i need for my job, i have no money for food and have to eat lunch at the soup kitchen everyday and rarely have anything for dinner. feelsbadman
>>717195621 fellow amerilard here, will agree that cost of living is high. however >to live in a 1 bedroom alone would be considered a luxury in a lot of parts of the world. I was able to do it on shit wages, but it meant living in shit apartments for a long time and not having room in the budget for much else.
>>717195710 Yes the snitches are bad. This is fact and it shouldn't happen where saying you don't like Putin has serious repercussions.
Once again there's the other side of the coin.
If you live in a shit country in shit conditions you have to have something to hold on to. Pride in your country and leaders, or whatever else. Throwing others in jail for not agreeing is one thing, but it's not right or wrong to hold on to patriotism.
I guess what I'm saying is the view is skewed due to the fact the people have a strong leader and nothing else. So naturally they are inclined to follow and praise him, as he decides their future.
>>717190559 I live in Serbia and the average wage is much less than even 500$. The thing is that everything that actually matters (not nigger phones) costs much less, also housing costs dozens of times less. As I said,i live in Serbia, but I still have a 900$ phone and a 2000$ computer, along with a 800$ "Smart TV". How is that possible? It's called fucking banks and loans, retard. So if OP isn't trolling and actually lives in Russia he's probably some fucking junkie off the street. The thing is,you can't just laze around like a nigger here, why do you think weed is so popular in the USA? You fucking americucks have nothing better to do. Also, buying an iPhone? You do realize you can pay monthly? If a phone costs ~ 600 you can get it right away and then pay 25 DOLLARS per month for a year. Medicine is priced at no more than 10$,mostly around 1-5$,also,free medicine doesn't exist. Also, these are all coming from MY experience, and I live in a country that is in a far,far worse economical situation. Kill yourself OP for trolling on a faggot board.
>>717190559 you sound like a butthurt kid which got no iphone for christmas you dont have to be poor in russia you can be filthy rich but you just don't have the balls for that so you will keep earning 500$ a month and keep bragging about it you piece of shit
>>717196120 can't stand being around people. tried to suck it up but it was just driving me buggy.
took me til mid 30s but I finally found someone I could stand to live with even past the hormone-honeymoon phase of the relationship. we're still poor because times are hard all around, but it's still easier to pay the bills. if it weren't for that, though, I'd still be living by myself.
>>717196010 Patriotism isn't pretending everything is okay when it's not. Patriotism is committing yourself to the well being of your nation and your people. Even if it means going against the leader, or against yourself if you find out you were on the wrong track.
I despise Putin. Not because I have some general issue with Russians, or because I want to outcompete them. I'd much rather see them become stable, lawful partners. I despise him because he has hijacked Russia, punishes the thinkers, silences opposition and imposes artificial suffering on them so he can then preach to them about foreign devils. His entire foreign policy seems so out of left field because it is largely fictional, it is a narrative that exists to legitimize his domestic policy, which has been a rapid descent into totalitarianism.
I also despise his entire legacy for not even trying to keep this under wraps, but culturally normalizing this behavior and poisoning entire generations of their culture. These same methods are used to foster low level corruption so no one can cast the first stone when high level corruption is the order of the day. And then you end up with people living in poverty and being forced into the criminal scene.
And for fucking what? So this oligarch can live like a god? What about the interests of the Russian PEOPLE? They have a cultural proclivity for science and the arts, and they've been reduced to confused and disillusioned rabble by these men.
This all started going off the tracks when the Russian revolution was hijacked by Ulyanov and then Lenin. They were on the right path then, before radicalist opportunists showed up. Could've been a prospering, valuable player in the global community.
>>717194138 why expect your family to cheer you up? maybe they say the same about you? start making it your goal to feel better and cheer them up? it has to start somewhere with someone. don't underestimate the power of pretending: if you just tell yourself something positive in the end you will start believing it a bit and your family, friends gf will sense that and it eill affect them too in apositive way. get up in the morning, look in the mirror and tell yourself every fucking day the same: life is shit and I will see what I can do about that today. pick each day 1 simple positive thing to do and promise yourself to do it; like saying spasiba or kak dela to some stranger, like the shopassistant or busdriver. or giving a bit of food to a stray cat. buy 1 flower for your gf, both she and the poor babushka who sells it at the metro station will be glad. why spend the money on vodka and be like every other alcoholic asshole?
The sad part of Russia is not the poverty but the mindset of people. St Petersburg and Moscow are only 2 OK citys that also have a lil bit of western lifestyle. People are really xenophobic and still live in the past. Everyone who does not agree with them is either a fascist or a russophobe. The majority actually believes their goverment led media which is funny to watch. I understand russian a bit and the things they claim are so pathetic. Also they have a goverment led children camps where they basically brainwash children to their soviet era mindset. Majority of Russians also believe that CCCP or Soviet union was a good thing and that they "freed" Europe. I hated it there and always will.
>>717196443 I hit submit too soon: you should expect that good relationships will bring you some cheer. that is not the same as expecting your family to cheer you up, i.e. expecting them to do for you what you should be trying to do for yourself. (however, if they are worth being with, they will try to cheer you up when they can)
>>717196531 okay, I understand. but you get what I mean in general: don't focus on others but on yourself, what can you do to go to bed and be able to smile about 1 good thing about the past day. why bother about all bad stuff when you can't change that anyway? and a relationship should make you feel better, if that isn't the case; find someone who does make you feel good and makes you smile.
>>717193278 Fucking bullshit I'm in the north east our property and rents are the lowest in the UK no way can you get a grand a week from benefits unless your a Muslim cunt with 15 kids to claim for and a 7 bedroom house. I don't know if you realise but it's the same benefit system for the whole country
>>717195904 you pay 1/4 of your income to your goverment? german here. I thought you could keep nearly all your income for yourself in america. I make 36k per year and with insurance and taxes I get to keep around 24k/year.
>>717196845 that last sounds nicer than real life is: human beings are ants, we need workers, if everyone is the queen ant the system will collapse. capitalisme thrives on the world being unequal: if there isn't always someone having more materialistic stuff than you have why bother to work, buy, loan, etc?
>>717196832 And that's why people are fighting it, because of how much there is.
U.S wants spics out, they vote trump, Germans are cucks, and Russians beat the shit out of non patriots. Or non native Russians.
You act like a lot of these countries aren't trying to keep non natives out. >>717196845 Kim jong un says he's gonna do shit and never does anything, that's what differentiates him. Putin executes what he says he will because he bows to no one, not because he's a pansy.
When it comes to creating leaders
Lions aren't taught to hunt. Leaders are born, not made.
>>717197143 why except me? I am a low life worker, what makes you think otherwise? and your statements are out of what textbook? yes, there must be leaders in society but you make it sound like the whole populations is made into leaders by a true big leader. such crap.
>>717197214 >Lions aren't taught to hunt. Leaders are born, not made. Let me guess which you are..
Seriously though, it comes down to culture and education. The reason Russia veered off tracks after perestroika for one, is because nobody knew what the fuck to do and for 7 generations had been trained to shut up and take orders or else. Western nations meanwhile could rebuild their entire country in 2 years time post-WWII and catch up to economic delay in another 2 years time. Because when you give them a phone and a budget they can make things happen.
Russia's cultural affinity for fascism is artificial. And fairly new, it's a 120 year old addition.
>>717197323 Textbooks sure. And experience. When you empower people to make their own decisions, when they have the necessary skills, resources and information, they become self-sustaining producers. The more of these you have, the greater your state budget and the lesser the burden on your society.
That is why the west is the rich place in the world right now while Russia is impoverished despite field testing this rethoric for 120 years. That's why east Europe is backlogged but has been catching up.
on a side note: I am impressed to have this thread on /b/. you can jump on me by saying this, but I am an oldfag (2007) and despite all differences and asshole statements this thread is meaningful. saved the general idea of /b/ going to pieces a but, on this last day of the year.
>>717197688 >If nobody knew what the fuck to do then there must have not have been a strong leader according to your logic. Stalin was a strong leader, cruel or not he got shit done. Your logic is flawed. You're right. There wasn't a strong leader. Because they only had one (figuratively) and he left. While other societies that were more self-sufficient had no problem replacing the leadership and carrying on. They have failed, spectacularly, over and over again. And you keep saying that all they need to do is give it another crack and go extra deep on the fascism this time.

>>717198141 6%? That must be wrong. In brazil let's say the minimum is wage 300 dollars, the boss has to pay in taxes almost that amount for the government to have the employee working for him. So the businessmen has to pay "double" the minimum wage. Without counting other taxes.
I have a question for russian if you guys fight and won against the nazis and millions of russians lost their life why there is so much russians claiming to be nazis nowdays? Are you guy xenophobic by nature?

>>717196715 >If the people don't fear you, they will push you around and call your bluffs
This is a warlord's attitude and part of the problem, it's how I remember 8th grade. A leader should provide stable conditions and opportunity for all to prosper, fear should have little to do with it outside of fear of the consequences of breaking the laws meant for everyone's safety
>>717197735 uh, i didnt list all my costs. i mean gasoline for my car is like 80/mo. it seems i average damn near 100/mo just in car maintenance/repairs. but yes if i am careful to eat cheaply i have a little bit of money to spend on toys/entertainment, but very little

>>717198846 Well they're all over. And bleeding partially into some former USSR states, notably Ukraine. Kavkaz aren't restricted just to the Caucasus. Russia is an ethnic melting pot on par with imperial Rome. I guess you could say "local" groups are known to be higher up but also more covert. Probably because they're higher up, can't have cops busting you on shooting off some happy-rounds at an intersection when you have a trafficking operation on the line. But they subcontract consistently and follow very long term partnerships. The thugs are their gunmen.
>>717198358 Look for Duguin e Eurasianism, Duguin is the mentor of Putin. Basically he wants everything that's bad in the country to make it has an even more socialist atmosphere. High criminality, prostitution, drug trafficking, increase in alcohol comsuption. So the population live in fear, that's what all socialist countries do.
>>717199463 I believe there are. I'm from neither of the two cities so the difference is a lot more striking. People from spb, on average, are a lot more engaged in politics and tend to be more liberal and leaning towards western ideals. While being seen as more polite and cultured, they seem to have a bitter obsession with their presumed intelligence and also tend to think that they 'know better' than any other people in Russia.
>>717200770 Dugin's version of Eurasianism is a combination of four points from communism, Nazism, ecologism and traditionalism. While Communism's opposition to free enterprise was adopted, the Marxist commitment to technological progress was dropped to appeal to Luddites and other anti-technology environmentalists opposing industrialism and modernity. Traditionalism was derived to surpressing free thought. Most of it comes from Nazism. The end result is what Russia needs, according to the author himself, a consistent fascist fascism, and Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine shows his regime adopts such ideology.

Your rent is probably cheap as fuck, so is food and mostly everything else except maybe electronics but do you really need the latest phone made by western companies?
