What does /b/ think of this show
>>713337752
I quite like it. it's just clean, simple comedy.. and Ilike the romance theme it has, friendship as well
i love it
and remember
"New is always better!!"
Good background noise show. Doesn't require you to focus but if you do there's an ok story throughout the show. People have some issues with how it ended but that's mostly because the story felt dragged out for a couple seasons. I didn't mind, just gave me more episodes.
Decemt series. Main character and Robin were lame af though.
>>713337752
Legen...wait for it...Dary!
I enjoyed "How I fucked your mother" more
>>713337983
Missed that ep
>>713337752
>>713337752
It's millennial trash, but it's still creative and I get drunk and watch it every night.
At least it isn't big bang theory trash
I first caught a few episodes here and there and thought; meh!
On recommendation of a friend I started watching right from episode 1 and was soon absolutely hooked.. bloody brilliant show. Got to watch it from S1E1 though.
>>713338090
Elaborate on the trash side
great show
should have ended at season 7 but oh well shit happens
>>713337752
Shallow jokes on:
relationships
Bro-culture
Life
Nothing exceptional about the comedic terse and or acting
Good idea for a show but in my opinion, bad delivery all around
Tho it does make me chuckle sometimes
No praise for the writing?
Last season is brilliantly written in my opinion
>>713337926
>Main character
so you were an avid watcher well placed to critique the show then...?

Zimbabwe
>>713338149
It gets nauseatingly silly at times, and not silly in the good Seinfeld or Python way. Plus, they're always making references to obscure films and TV shows (part of the pop-culture-reference-on-alt-media cancer mania that really grinds my gears.)
>>713337752
I fucking love this show. I'd give it a perfect 5/7 rating.
>>713338398
Creative, sure, but they clearly weren't fucking thinking.
>>713338772
>i_understood_that_reference.gif
>>713338692
Yeah understandable, i fell as if the silliness does add to the characters though. As an australian i feel as if I'm subjected to a lot of american or european references, and id say i get about 70% of them, i.e family guy humor is extremely celebrity based. So i kind of live with it
>9 Seasons

stats speak for themselves methinks
>>713339085

Lol. Even Dexter has 8.8 and it's trash.
>>713339085
>Big Bang Theory

>8.4/10 (544,947 reviewers)
Stats mean absolutely nothing.
>>713337752
Well, it's definitely a show, and it's on television. Notice I said television and not 'TV,' because TV is a nickname, and nicknames are for friends, and television is no friend of mine.
>>713339290
Very perceptive
i would slam every hole of that canadian girl

Quality of this show drastically decreased with each new season making you happy it ended

I had the most heart-breaking, dysphoric crush on her a couple years ago. That was when I was so crippled by loniness, all I did was watch HIMYM every night and pretend I was living their lives.

Can we talk about jason segal in the first pic real quick, like, wtf
>>713337946
I love that one quote... you know... the one that guy says... you know... Gary. "Get your suit on!" Classic.
>>713337752
It was nice.
Too bad it's over.
I don't watch a lot of TV anymore (especially American stuff), so it would be nice if someone could recommend me something good that's still running.
Also too bad Lily never got her lesbian fantasy about Robin fulfilled
>>713340016
you got it buddy, you got it!
>>713337752
Classic comedy, hit me in the feels a few times but fucking rushed and lousy ending
Starts good, slowly turns to shit
First few seasons were on Seinfeld level
The last few were TBBT tier
Better watch Rules of Engagement
American rubbish with no substance, I swear Americans laugh at anything.

She gets fisted in the vid I posted screenshots of and that's clearly a normal pussy.

Like Friends but with beer (and the logical consequences) instead of coffee.
>Ted, Barney and possibly Marshall are all sitting at a table at the bar they frequent
>Having a beer
>Talking about having sex with women
>Ted still manages to make it gay
I like most of the characters to an extent on that show; but I do not like Ted.

It's a good show to watch inbetween seasons of shows you actually want to watch.

Sorry, were these the shows you chose to prove my point or to oppose it? Just checking.
Why are there literally an infinite amount of these American sitcoms that have that lame watered down humour that you can show at 3pm and they're all based around some cringey pathetic love story.
Why indeed.
Why?
>>713337850
lol

the barney character had the best lines, and basically held the show together.

All rated better than any of that shit comedy that sad pathetic loners watch ie, How I met your Mother, Big Bang theory, Rules of Engagement etc.

stopped watching when charlie died.

>>713340530
ya no one could stand ted. Fall in and out of love, at the drop of a hat.
He was a whiney bitch. Agreed.
I think its' the only tv show where the main character sucked so hard. that the supporting cast was what people really wanted to watch. Not ted hump and dump his 100th girl to find true love.

>>713341827
Ah ok, I wasn't sure from the list...
HIMYM is far superior to BBT and I have no idea what 'Rules of Engagement' is.
>>713342089
>there is no air
>>713341375
Whatever you want to call it dude. And yes that's Bob, hence the reason the show was called Mr. Show with Bob and David. Imagine that.
>>713341969
Practically the same show.
Annoying main character that falls in love all the time, whines about shit,
"Zany Best friend"
All the humor comes from supporting cast of friends.
"Drama" is created by changes in group dynamic.
Very tame humour.
Often when the jokes are lame, the writers use trick of having the characters find it funny, so that audience can laughat that instead.
Swap "science" with "a Bar" and its the fucking same.
>>713342279
Well dont i feel like an uneducated piece of shit. Excuse my autism for the day.
>>713337752
Boring.
>>713342239
There are people in this thread calling Two and a half men "God tier" that its the kind of level this is at. I had MRSA in my mouth once, it was still funnier than this shit.
>>713342321
Hmm well, i dont remember bbt ever planning out as great as himym, or ever having any actual character development other than some autistic wanker being able to talk to girls and a guy caring less about who sits in his spot. Himym doesnt rely on very elementary pop culture references, i.e comic book shit any normie would know. Given himym has lots of pop culture, however its generally classics, i.e 90s 80s films and books etc. Himym has the ability to intertwine with each of its episodes so beautifully and propell each episode with a totally new story, whereas big bang relies on the same lines same references to star wars or doctor who, the same sets, same characters, its just fucking boring, its one giant episode of nothing.
>>713342033
This is true, btw.
Cguck Lorre was so salty at Sheen that he changed the plot to him having been in Rose's dungeon all the time just so he would be able to kill him again.
The last episode is about him escaping and trying to get revenge at Alan (iirc) for some retarded shit and just before he can enter the house a fucking piano drops on his head. The end.
Masterful writing.
>>713341401
>Black books
Yes mein nieger
>>713342554
Two and a half men before charlies death was really good, god tier for SITCOMS of this era. Himym would have to be better though, simply due to its writing
Big bang started out as an original concept (a show for nerds? Finally) but just as quickly sold out to the "who's with who" borderline reality show that plagues modern television. I really do fear that decent contemporary comedy is being reduced to short YouTube and Facebook skits :(
>>713342939
Amen
>>713341781

>>713342939
>>713342844

>>713342353

>>713343329
I meant witty comedy
>>713342681
thank you! See this anon gets it
>>713343329
Curb your enthusiasm isnt a sitcom. And id say arrested development and sunny remain lesser known due to unoriginal content, or maybe ideas, kind of mixed mash of other sitcoms and comedies, actors are what makes a show, id say thats why these wouldnt be considered 'actually funny' over himym. Himym breaks all the boundaries of comedy on television
Watched it like five times, it's great.
Honestly watch the whole serious in order before classifying it on the same level as trash like big bang. Himym is so much more complex and well written. Please, tell me there is a better sitcom/similar comedy show that aired during the same time or near it? Enlighten me

>Barney says suit up
Laugh track is played so loud your eardrums are now perforated.
>Cuts to a scene were Barney and the other one are wearing suits.
Wittiest comedy show ever written.
>>713345674
Eh, im tired, might be a little bit too over bearing, but i genuinely believe himym was a very unique show, with deeper imbedded meanings, the last season completely destroyed the whole classic american sitcom feel with a lot of different ways of looking into characters and their relationship with their surroundings, family, friends etc
>>713337752
Always wanted to fuck the redhead, or whatever her actual hair color is. The one top center.
>>713346177
I feel exactly how you do, but for big bang, himym is so much more than that lazy excuse of a show
>>713346247
The writing was good, absolutely. But the show as a whole was nothing ground breaking. Some really good episodes but again, nothing new.
Breaking Bad was groundbreaking, Sopranos was groundbreaking.
Sunny in Philly was because of how it came about. Really raunchy good humor, but again, nothing new. Just a fucked up Seinfeld in a bar.
Not all of us have the intellect to understand the sometimes complex plots
>>713346339
Anything Chuck Lorre does is a joke. Same formula different situations. I'm not hating on him. He knows what America will consume and he rakes it in
>>713340212
and then watch mike and molly then king of queens then hot in Cleveland
>>713346683
I just think that mimym found a really different category and its hard to classify, is it rom com, is it sit com, theres slapstick, sarcasm, irony, crude humor. Like, its a mash of a lot of different concepts and it just flows so well, you could watch a random ep for example, have a laugh, yet you sit down and watch the last season feeling genuinely moved by it, its just made so well. I just dont think it gets enough credit. I think it wasnt groundbreaking in the sense of breaking bad, sitcoms dont have enough room to be as groundbraking as a drama could, but i do feel it broke a lot of standard sitcom boundaries
>>713347171
Last Man on Earth is great. As far as comedies go. Modern Family is meh. It's BG noise for me. Nor sure there are any really good comedies out there.
>>713347319
>Nor sure there are any really good comedies
Schindlers List was pretty funny
>>713347187
Fair enough. In that sense, yeah, it was great. Again, I liked it. A few seasons towards the end I was like, "c'mon already, let's get to the wife". Then again it's hard to hard more than 4/5 great seasons. Eventually you run dry no matter how talented the writers room is.
>>713347474
I respect that, honestly, i do think it may have been better with a season less, but i enjoyed it nonetheless
>>713337752
its even funnier in german
remember that episode when barney reunited the third reich?
>>713339229
Was amazing. Ended like trash.

X Files was great, but I personally never got super into it. I was never the "procedural" kinda guy though. Probably why I loved Sopranos and Breaking Bad. Atlanta was awesome though not a sitcom.

>>713348594
Haha thanks!
>>713337752
Absolutely horrifically BORING.
My gf would put HIMYM on to binge-watch and I was exposed to the series that way. Not once did I laugh during 10+ episodes. Even Friends got a slight chuckle out of me once in a while, but How I Met Your Mother is just utterly and completely unfunny to me.
>>713348155
You can cut the crap already.
>>713348646
Yes i really need to start watching west world, it sounds as if you're in the business of some show, would i be correct?

>>713348855
Haha yes. Not working on anything now, but pilots will start shooting in Feb, so I'll get on something then.
Not sure if it'll get picked up, but the Sunny guys are Exec Producing (putting their names on it but not having anything to do with it) a new show called Ride or Die with Nassim Pedrad's sister... Or was it her. I can't remember but I thought the script was great. I was supposed to work on it, but the person hiring my position had someone in mind already.

>>713349656
Haha no you just have to know someone. But really, it's not that glamorous. If you work on set you're there anywhere from 10-16hrs a day sometimes 6days a week. Obviously there are shows that are not like that. Anything Clint Eastwood directs is an 8hr day. Plus pay comparatively isn't great, especially at the bottom. PA's make minimum wage, but since they're paid for 60hrs a week, it seems like a lot (about 700/750 a week plus mileage)

I've been getting up at 6am(ish) and coming into work at 6:45 for like 8 years now. You'd think I'd be used to it, but nope. He'll no. I still wake up to this annoying morning radio show (John Boy and goddam Billy... redneck assholes! ) doing their stupid redneck laughing and chuckling--no one should sound that fucking cheerful and happy at 6am unless they've been up all night snorting coke or something-every morning, howling in my ears, and all I can do is ask, 'why?'. More like a growl it really. They do motivate my ass to get up and turn that shit off though. That's probably the only thing they are good for, but apparently they have fans and shit because they haven't been canceled yet. Goddam I hate trailer trash so much...

Good shit, great lulz, didn't dig the whole mom dying, going back to Robin thing. But that was like 3 episodes of the final season.

I agree. I always skip the final season because I think it makes the entire show pointless. We have learned again and again that Ted and Robin do NOT go together. So then they kill off the mother (who actually went really well with Ted)...and it's back to the same old again. They are no Ross and Rachel (whose differences were petty against their attraction for each other), they shouldn't have gone with that solution.
